I’m in the same boat bro had two come over both didn’t do full diagnostics never touched the start relay they both just touched the compressor barehanded said it was too warm and gave quotes to replace it $990 and $1400 😂😂 I laughed them both right out of my house as I would buy a new fridge before giving them that for 19yr old fridge
Even when I told one of them it was clicking ever few mins but the compressor wouldn’t start he then plugged in the fridge heard the clicking and at still wanted to say the compressor needed replacing
Anyhow I order a new start relay and cap kit from Amazon and will be doing it myself using this video I hope it work for me too. Thanks so much😊

I just did this fix and 2 important things to know. First of all I bought the part at at a local supply house and he said I didn't need capacitor. That never goes bad and you can save a few bucks. Ok so I installed the starter part and NOTHING! The whole fridge was now totally dead. But luckily I had left the new part in and plugged in. As my wife and I scrambled scouring the internet for a solution the fridge just came to life after about 15 minutes. Maybe the mother board needed a few minutes to reboot? Not sure but it works perfect now. Was ready to toss fridge in trash and get new one than spend 300 to fix older one. Patience prevailed

When my refrigerator is plugged into the electrical outlet behind the fridge, the fridge starts up, runs a few minutes and then the compressor shuts down. I change plugs on the same outlet, same thing. I take an extension cord and plug the fridge into an outlet in another room in the house, and the refrigerator works fine. I tried going to the electrical box and resetting the power and the outlet behind the fridge worked about 15 minutes and then the condenser shut down. Why would the fridge work fine using another electrical outlet in the house? Thank you.

I sure hope you can help me! I have 22 year old fridge. Works like a charm. Then yesterday I turned manual Temp Control nob to Defrost and when I tried to turn the nob back to cool the fridge doesn´t turn on (does that mean compressor does not turn on?) and in intervals I hear click sound and the motor starts for a few seconds then turns off. Question 1/ is that the relay that is busted? 2/ or the compressor busted? 3/ are relays generic or will it be real hard to find a 23 year old model relay? 4/ I have never fixed anything mechanical -- do you think I could do this myself without calling repair man? 5/ I am FRANTIC about this, having a broken fridge and no $ to buy a new one. Can you please advise me?? Do you think it is a simple relay issue my mechanically inclined super can fix this or even me? Thanks a gazillion.
