I am a former member of GAEREA, blackmetal from Portugal.. GAEREA played with batushka twice in Portugal: RCA club Lisbon and Hard Club Porto while I was still a member. This sounds exactly how it should assuming it is the same composer, so IMO, Krzysztof Drabikowski is the true composer here.

One thing is arguable and it is costumes -Drabikowski says he is behind costumes, Bielemiuk says, that Krysiuk is behind them, so not sure about this... But about other points of the post I'm certain. I think it is not really important who booked the concerts, who popularized Batushka etc. It is not a boy band :D Only thing I think is important is who made the lyrics, melodies and whole atmosphere and that is Drabikowski for sure - you can hear it for yourself if you compare this album to Krysiuk's song Btw, I fully agree with Drabikowski, that shows are not that important.

Metal needs more bands like this, bands that challenge musical boundaries and deliberately try to break the mold. Batushka, Ruins of Beverast, Clouds, and Dragged into Sunlight are unorthodox blessings upon the scene.
I'm assuming you're familiar with Cult of Fire? If not you'd probably appreciate their art. I find them incredibly talented and interesting, drawing upon Aghori Hindu spirituality and having a uniquely melodic sound, they certainly don't fit the typical black metal mold at all in my eyes.
@@willrfrench There's a legal battle going on right now about who owns Batushka and the copyright. Krzysztof kicked Bartguy out of the band, then Bartguy kicked Krzysztof out. Bartguy has control of all the old official social media and the band, and they are signed to Metal Blade Records who, in spite of legal documents saying that Bartguy isn't allowed to release shit under the name "Batushka", is releasing the new "Batushka" (which, tbh, sounds pretty fucking crappy going by the music video). Krzysztof is fighting to get back what is rightfully his. He did fucking start the band, it's his fucking idea. That's one side of the coin. The side I'm on. And listening to this just made me even more sure who the actual Batushka is.

Olive Mule The hired gun vocalist Bartłmej Krysiuk copyrighted the name of the band and tried to kick Krzysztof out of the band even though Krzysztof wrote literally all of the music. They're currently having a legal battle of the rights to the name Batushka

В точку! Для меня самого "Батюшка" - один из редчайших проектов на металл сцене, поражающий своей "серьёзностью" и уникальностью. И каждый из альбомов шедеврален по своему. И Панихида оправдала все мои ожидания. А всё происходящее вокруг проекта - весьма печально и возмутительно. Действия Metal Blade Records и Крысюка - это более чем неуважение и плевок в лица всех фанатов Батюшки и слушателей Блэк металл. Там где существует коммерция, нет места творчеству.

This was an amazing thing to wake up to. I am so happy. Litourgiya became one of my favorite albums and I am so glad to hear its energy and life continue into this record unfiltered and unbastardized. Glory to the REAL Batushka!
It's a shame that this album was surrounded by the band's conflict, i think is truly an evolution from the first album: it's angrier, more dramatic, sadder... As someone in band's bandcamp said: "A soundtrack to gain faith, or lose it."

One of my favorite parts of Batushka is how it's ambiguous whether they are antichristian or actually religious, and I like how this iteration of the band preserves that.
The lyrics are pretty religious... if you can call them that, it is black metal after all. The entire album circles around themes of death and orthodox church burial rituals and rites.
After hearing the difference between the two, I'm in awe of why the other guy even tried that bullshit. I never thought I would see the day when a band would split in two and have both release an album under the same name at the same time. What The hell is going on? Remember the days when black metal was simple and the biggest things happening were a few murders, suicides and church burnings? Those were the days! Lol

Przesłuchałem cały album i muszę przyznać, że jest rewelacyjny. Od razu słychać kto całą robotę odwalał w tym projekcie. Dobra robota Krzychu, a Pan bart zamiast podpierdalać znowu komuś zespół to powinien zacząć czyścić Panu buty. Pozdrawiam.
Delas czytałeś wypowiedź perkusisty który nagrał partie na Litourgyię? Prawda że Drabikowski skomponował cały materiał i to on stoi za wyjątkowym brzmieniem, słuchając pierwsza płytę czuje się jakbym uczestniczył w jakiejś czarnej mszy w średniowiecznej cerkwii. Natomiast wizerunek sceniczny i w sumie wszystko co związane z występami na żywo, trasy sprzęt itp to dzięki pracy i zaangażowaniu Krysiuka, Drabikowski nie chciał żeby Batushka się rozwijała i odnosiła sukcesy komercyjne. Bardzo jestem ciekaw rozwoju sytuacji, mam nadzieję że zakończy się jak najkorzystniej dla słuchaczy :)

@@tomaraya3366 Z całą tą sprawą staram się być na bieżąco. Oglądałem oświadczenie Drabikowskiego na YT, czytałem wywiad barta i komentarz perkusisty. Moim zdaniem najlepszym rozwiązaniem tego całego sporu dla nas - fanów, sprawa w sądzie powinna zakończyć się przyznaniem praw do Batushki Panu Drabikowskiemu. W pewnym momencie sam się pogubiłem i nie wiedziałem po czyjej być stronie. Po publikacji tego albumu w sieci nie mam już z tym problemu. Miałem okazję zobaczyć Batushke na żywo w Warszawie w 2018 roku. No nie powiem, ze show zrobiło na mnie ogromne wrażenie. Wizerunek sceniczny to raz, ale i nagłośnienie w Progresji dawało na tyle radę, że cała Liturgia brzmiała lepiej na żywo. Kto nie miał okazji zobaczyć Batushki na żywo to będzie miał czego żałować. Cytując komentarz perkusisty " Etap pierwszej płyty jest zakończony, materiał z tej płyty według mojej wiedzy nie będzie grany na koncertach". Więc jeśli te słowa się potwierdzą to już wolę żeby w ogóle nie było przyszłych koncertów., tym bardziej, że nowy repertuar Hermhushki zapowiada się tak słabo, że nawet komentarze i ocenianie zostało wyłączone, nie wspominając już o usuwanych komentarzach / banowaniu na "oficjalnym" FP zespołu. Mam nadzieję, że Krzysztof wygra proces i znowu za 4-5 lat zaskoczy nas czymś nowym, a jeśli stwierdzi, że na Batushke przyszedł już koniec i nie będzie kontynuował tego projektu, to cóż dostaliśmy dwa świetne albumy więc nie ma co narzekać :) Amen

In my opinion, this is the best opening I have ever heard to a metal album, the wall of emotion and the sheer atmosphere it sucks you in from the very beginning is unlike anything I have ever heard before. It’s been a long time since I’ve actually listened to something that actually moved me to my foundations. GOD DAMN THAT FUCKING GALLOPING RIFF THAT RIPS OUT IN THE 1:30 MINUTE MARK IS SUCH PRIMAL, UNBRIDLED RAGE AND COMPOSURE.
Exactly why im here again. I heard this album the first time when it was released, on Midsummers eve, something we nordics celebrate. It was a good midsummers eve.
Such a perfect progression from the first album. This is exactly how a follow up record should sound like: Keeping true to the established sound while exploring different facets of it and delivering the same level of quality. I really like the more varied vocal arrangements, it absolutely fits the the music and the concept. The composition is also more intense this time around, but without sacrificing the original atmosphere, which is quite an accomplishment.
The reason why I love Batushka is for sure He production, it’s the perfect sound for a band like this, especially with all this controversy happening, Metal Blade Batushka just doesn’t have it. At least from the single I’ve listened to

But I'd instantly buy a Batushka patch and a military backpack to put it on and would take the patched backpack with me every day to support them! Since 1992, since "Samael" published "Blood Ritual", there was no music that got me Like this one.

So am I the only one that had just eargasm after eargasm. Usually the second album is not as good as the first because you know what to expect. But this album came really really close to the feeling I had the first time listening to litourgiya.
After listening to Hospodi i started to look for the 'other' Batushka, and WOW!!! THIS is just brilliant!! Although i enjoyed Hospodi I personally think this sound (for me) is the one we all know as Batushka. I was a fan and fell in love with your style when i saw you play in Bristol Thekla in 2018.

Я уверен, что после видео-обращения Христофора, большинство русско-язычного населения начали переживать за него, и выход этого альбома - как камень с души, мол все хорошо, Христофор не пал, смог издать! И мы искренне рады, ведь подобного материала уже давно не видать на металлической сцене.
В точку! Для меня самого "Батюшка" - один из редчайших проектов на металл сцене, поражающий своей "серьёзностью" и уникальностью. И каждый из альбомов шедеврален по своему. И Панихида оправдала все мои ожидания.
А всё происходящее вокруг проекта - весьма печально и возмутительно. Действия Metal Blade Records и Крысюка - это более чем неуважение и плевок в лица всех фанатов Батюшки и слушателей Блэк металл. Там где существует коммерция, нет места творчеству.

This was an amazing thing to wake up to. I am so happy. Litourgiya became one of my favorite albums and I am so glad to hear its energy and life continue into this record unfiltered and unbastardized. Glory to the REAL Batushka!
It's a shame that this album was surrounded by the band's conflict, i think is truly an evolution from the first album: it's angrier, more dramatic, sadder... As someone in band's bandcamp said: "A soundtrack to gain faith, or lose it."

Przesłuchałem cały album i muszę przyznać, że jest rewelacyjny. Od razu słychać kto całą robotę odwalał w tym projekcie. Dobra robota Krzychu, a Pan bart zamiast podpierdalać znowu komuś zespół to powinien zacząć czyścić Panu buty. Pozdrawiam.
Delas czytałeś wypowiedź perkusisty który nagrał partie na Litourgyię? Prawda że Drabikowski skomponował cały materiał i to on stoi za wyjątkowym brzmieniem, słuchając pierwsza płytę czuje się jakbym uczestniczył w jakiejś czarnej mszy w średniowiecznej cerkwii. Natomiast wizerunek sceniczny i w sumie wszystko co związane z występami na żywo, trasy sprzęt itp to dzięki pracy i zaangażowaniu Krysiuka, Drabikowski nie chciał żeby Batushka się rozwijała i odnosiła sukcesy komercyjne. Bardzo jestem ciekaw rozwoju sytuacji, mam nadzieję że zakończy się jak najkorzystniej dla słuchaczy :)

Moim zdaniem najlepszym rozwiązaniem tego całego sporu dla nas - fanów, sprawa w sądzie powinna zakończyć się przyznaniem praw do Batushki Panu Drabikowskiemu.
W pewnym momencie sam się pogubiłem i nie wiedziałem po czyjej być stronie. Po publikacji tego albumu w sieci nie mam już z tym problemu.
Miałem okazję zobaczyć Batushke na żywo w Warszawie w 2018 roku. No nie powiem, ze show zrobiło na mnie ogromne wrażenie. Wizerunek sceniczny to raz, ale i nagłośnienie w Progresji dawało na tyle radę, że cała Liturgia
brzmiała lepiej na żywo. Kto nie miał okazji zobaczyć Batushki na żywo to będzie miał czego żałować. Cytując komentarz perkusisty " Etap pierwszej płyty jest zakończony, materiał z tej płyty według mojej wiedzy nie będzie grany na koncertach".
Więc jeśli te słowa się potwierdzą to już wolę żeby w ogóle nie było przyszłych koncertów., tym bardziej, że nowy repertuar Hermhushki zapowiada się tak słabo, że nawet komentarze i ocenianie zostało wyłączone, nie wspominając już o usuwanych komentarzach / banowaniu na "oficjalnym" FP zespołu.
Mam nadzieję, że Krzysztof wygra proces i znowu za 4-5 lat zaskoczy nas czymś nowym, a jeśli stwierdzi, że na Batushke przyszedł już koniec i nie będzie kontynuował tego projektu, to cóż dostaliśmy dwa
świetne albumy więc nie ma co narzekać :)

In my opinion, this is the best opening I have ever heard to a metal album, the wall of emotion and the sheer atmosphere it sucks you in from the very beginning is unlike anything I have ever heard before. It’s been a long time since I’ve actually listened to something that actually moved me to my foundations. Such a perfect progression from the first album. This is exactly how a follow up record should sound like: Keeping true to the established sound while exploring different facets of it and delivering the same level of quality.
I really like the more varied vocal arrangements, it absolutely fits the the music and the concept. The composition is also more intense this time around, but without sacrificing the original atmosphere, which is quite an accomplishment.
The reason why I love Batushka is for sure He production, it’s the perfect sound for a band like this, especially with all this controversy happening, Metal Blade Batushka just doesn’t have it. At least from the single I’ve listened to
