Iam 44, I grew up in the same town as Nihal Sarin. Chess became a thing for us kids, thanks to vishy, had a few friends who carried around chess boards on their cycles instead of footballs, news papers started carrying chess games clippings and so on. Looking back, iam amazed how vishy pulled it off born in India as opposed to say russia - he would have been a world champion much earlier. He just had his family and their faith, nothing else when he started. it's just incredible.
He was so dissapointed with his performance in classical. He knew it was so winning and yet he somehow drew it ,, I don’t know how he composed himself for the Armageddon ,, this is usually the stuff that leads to tilt
Well not only him, but every GM in the world would call it that, as armagadon and classical are totally different, Anand wanted to win in classical, not in armagadon or bullet, in classical the players are at their strongest mindset
I feel like, not only had Gotham improved as a commentator for matches like these, but he's still finding new and interesting ways to keep on improving. The amazing thing about the Vishy match is Magnus was pretty much dominated, only saving a draw in the long game with a beautiful sequence with the pawn and queen. As an older guy who finds his mind doesn't work as well as it once did I find Vishy's play lately to be truly inspiring.

Magnus defended pretty well but Anand had almost crushed him. It was Anand's couple of inaccuracies that allowed Magnus to come back. After Rb6 by Anand the Stockfish (NNUE 15 at depth 34) gives him an advantage of +3.0 After that he played Rc6 which was an inaccuracy but still even after Qd3 by Magnus, Anand had to find Qg4 and would still have the advantage of +1.1 But a few inaccuracies in a row and he had to settle for a draw. Afterwards he also said that he was very disappointed as how could he not win such a beautiful position.
This whole Chess GM's matches feels like an anime Magnus as our protagonist, Hikaru as best friend or rival , Vishy as the elder of all , Giri as the character as of challenger, Nepo as the friendly guy but strong , and Ding Liren as antagonist ( Not as a bad guy but the main guy who can take down Magnus) And Gotham as Narrator

The video could literally be titled "Magnus plays kick-the-can with Arkady Dvorkovich after Magnus and Sam Shankland lost a tag-team crossword puzzle match against Robert Hess and Dmitry Andreikin"... and I would expect analysis of 3-5 chess games from a given tournament, and nothing else.
Shak has quickly become my favourite player this year, would love an in depth review of some of his best games as we don't get him highlighted much, even though he's always a competitor in top 10.

26:15 in Europe they use laser guns and you can't detect them. With the old radar you can just slow down rapidly when you see they aim at you and there is a chance it will show measurement error
Although Magnus 'escaped' with the draw, the way Anand was slaughtering him is definitely a wake up call to the world that the old tiger is not dead and can take on anyone in the world.
I find it hard to watch these videos because I get a sudden urgency to play chess like a grandmaster. But I usually end up re-signing after move 5 when the queen falls.
Former World Champion from India ❤️ but now I realize his importance as none of the Indians other than him are able to get even into the top 10 😔 while he is one of the greatest forever 😎
The future of chess lies in India, and you can thank Anand for creating said future. He inspired an entire generation of young Indians to take up chess. I won't be surprised if at least a third of the top 50 chess players are Indian 10 years from now.
