More information:
The biggest thing I should have mentioned is that VIZ Media handles both anime and manga. When they are saying they are still exploring the future of the franchise, it means we can't assume RWBY will continue as a show or that it would be 3D animated if it is. It may be a manga or something else. But a manga does still leave the door open for something animated in the future since that's how many Japanese anime are produced.
Kerry Shawcross is the only former CRWBY member who we currently know will continue making the show, but that doesn't mean others will not be there with him too. There is no further information right now, but there may be in the future.
Kerry wrote a thread thanking the community for the positive reception to this news. He credited the Head of Licensing Geoff Yetter for "giving RWBY the support it needs." Source: twitter.com/kerryshawcross/status/1809382406291415397
Casey Lee Williams reinforced that RWBY's original soundtracks will return to streaming platforms soon. Source: twitter.com/caseylwilliams/status/1809400712968679710
Multiple former Rooster Teeth employees stated that Kerry and Barbara's announcement video about VIZ Media was "one of the last things" they made while at the company, meaning the business deal was in motion when Geoff Yetter gave his statement on the final RWBY crew livestream. Dillon Goo said he was in talks to acquire RWBY, but "things did not align," so he and his studio *will not* be involved with RWBY. Source: twitter.com/DillonGoo/status/1809355835988165059
Well, Dillion at least seems happy it will continue even if he didn't get it. Awfully nice of him.
i suspect Shane Newville is the reason things didn't align for Dillon Gu, he probably didn't want Miles and Kerry continue the story
WE'RE ALL BACK BABY
I already heard about Viz claiming RWBY but I have been wondering for weeks whether or not Tyrian's VA would return since RT is no more. Thanks for including that in the video. That just made my day.
Grelle has always been with Crunchyroll and Sentai Works. Viz has good connections with them. So, I can high predict that Grelle would come back.
She did say she would like to reprise the role, so I see no reason why they'd refuse to bring her back when the time comes.
I'm so freaking excited to see what VIZ dose with RWBY in the future.
Thanks for coninuing to keep us updated about RWBY, Robin! You're a real one!
My pleasure!
I think ViZ couldn't be a better fit, but I'm 100% expecting RWBY to take on a new format--likely either in manga format, OEL manga now that English-creator-made manga isn't as frowned upon as it is as it was a few decades ago, or even in light novel or novel format. ViZ kinda has anime industry connections as a publisher, but I'd be gobsmacked (happily so) if we got any kind of animated continuation.
8:08 Really appreciate finding out about this! Even when I think I've heard all the RWBY news, I always learn something new from your videos. Thank you!
I didn't know what Viz Media was until this news update. This company has so many anime projects, rwby will be just fine. And welcome back ❤
RWBY entering the Viz Media era ❤
Viz has Sailor Moon as well so they cater to all genres
Glad to know the RWBY soundtracks are coming back, tho im really gonna miss the RvB tracks.
oh boy is this good news. the RWBY void has me in a dark place.
thank you Wiz!
When I saw this. I am excited for this info.
we're so back
Still gonna be a long while until it’s actually back.
@@mauriceisaac3646 Of course! My current uneducated guess is at least 2-ish years before we see another Volume, but I'm personally willing to wait however long it takes for them to deliver a quality product
@@SmallerSoul “Quality” is a broad concept when it comes to RWBY, but hopefully, this partnership leads to some kind of improvement in production, if that route is taken.
I'd prefrer and like to think it would be cheaper to keep the same art direction as 3D and carry it over to the new studio with the same engine and new animators but also since Volume 9 ends with Team RWBY going into a literally Portal back to Remnant it wouldn't be that far of a stretch to see the rest of the series as a 2D anime inspired by Ice Queendoms art style. And for the manga side we could get side stories for lore and world building beyond the show Either way it's a blessing that it's a continuation
RWBYs back baby!!!! I can’t wait for more RWBY content😄😄😄
RWBY is back baby!!!
Hopefully we get some smaller news like where it's going to be streamed from. My take is Crunchyroll.
*Hero Hei Angrily Punching Air*
Someone like him would be happy to have more content to farm ragebait with.
Also other reactors have had to just contact Rooster Teeth in the past to get the unblock. But now that It's Viz, it might be Viz that you have to contact and/or showrunner Kerry.
I want to see Rwby volume 10.Because I want to see them together again with their friends and their families
YES THERE BACK BABY!! 😊 now they find a way to wrap the series without cancelling it
Thank gosh this series is saved. And Viz media is a good choice
We win baby!
We're back baby!
It’s been eleven years?!?!?
That is correct! Congrats, you're old /j
RWBY Volume 1 Chapter 1 premiered on July 5th, 2013 to RTX attendees.
HELL YEAHH!!!!!! WE ARE SOO BACK IN BUSINESS BOYS!!
Hope Volume 10 continues after Volume 9 event.
And the animation hopefully will still be the same.
I hope they will bring back the focus on weapons and action from the early seasons. Let's face it, that's what drew us to the show in the first place.
Just proves despites the shows flaws its got a committed fan base
Also I think can hear the seething from certain creators and corners of the internet
We won baby! Let’s gooooo!
Always keep moving forward.
Great News indeed!
I actually didn't know VIZ media did any animated content until today (thanks to the MurderOfBirds video), but now I'll have to look into it. Because if they don't animate anything in house and they want to save money, then I assume they'd go with 2D animation. And if so, their best bet is Studio Mir, the animation studio known for The Legend of Korra, one of the better episodes of Star Wars Visions season 1 (and they came back for season 2, as well), and many other shows. And their animation quality is honestly the best I've ever seen out of any 2D animation studio. Not one other name comes to mind that even rivals them. And their fights are amazing. Ice Queendom's animation let me down in basically every way, and not even the two or three fights with any actual budget put into them impressed me much, but Studio Mir can do no wrong.
They don't.
They exclusively deal in licenses. It's best to think of them as a publisher then an actual studio. They will license out the IP and a bag of cash to an actual studio to animate and produce while they handle all the marketing, PR, merchandising, legal stuff, media sales (books and dvds) along with licensing to actual streaming services.
Think of them to CRWBY or whatever studio produces RWBY as you would EA being the publisher to Bioware for Bioware titles. (The baggage and reputation notwithstanding.)
Originally Viz is best known for the licensing and translation/localization of giants such as DBZ, JJBA, and Sailor Moon to the american public.
@@graveyardshift6691 Well then I still stand by my opinion of Studio Mir being the best studio to animate the show if it continues in 2D.
@@compareandcontrast9833 I'll concede the point with the caveat that those are some pretty niche IPs against the actual giants in Viz's library.
I HAVE heard of them but your average mainstreamer will not likely have.
I don't know..... who did Solo Leveling? The fight choreography and animation are amazing! They'd totally treat rwby well!!!
@@sparxmaiden841 Quick Google search says A-1 Pictures. But I haven't seen Solo Leveling or its fights, so I can't actually say much about it.
Im so damn happy!
Im really hoping they at least keep it the same kind of style. I've grown pretty attached to the current style of the show and it always makes me smile when you see how far it had come from volume 1 to 9. So excited this show will continue. It's a favorite and honestly a comfort show for me
Yay! The story is safe!
OH YEAH!!!
I think rwby is gonna have the one piece treatment having a remake while having the show continuing
I highly doubt it. RWBY is very expensive to produce. It'd make more sense to finish the story as it is first before even considering to reboot it.
@@user-mu1os7me8s giving the full metal alchemist treatment
So excited
Not guaranteed that it will tkae that long if they have done some of it under WB? We do not know how much it was completed or even started at?
nice, one peice and ruby, viz is great!
Huh… I honestly thought they were going to do a Reboot, I would have been interested to see how a Reboot of the RWBY series under Viz Media would look like, like how of it will stay the same and what all change and what additions will be made to the series, but that’s just me I guess
Would be a waste of time to reboot it. Do you know how many years it's taken to get to volume 9?
Looks like I need to bolster my portfolio because I just graduated and I SO want in on this project. Is anyone aware of which positions they'll be hiring for in the art side of things or is it too early to tell?
I can't wait for V10!
LONG LIVED RWBY!!!!!!!! YOUR SPIRIT IS INDOMITABLE!!!!!!!!!!
YES we are here ❤❤❤❤
yay

So exciting!
Awesome!
Seeing Team RWBY being under the same place as some of my favourite anime and manga icons of my teenage years fuels me with intense joy
Seeing Ruby alongside Ichigo Kurosaki, Naruto Uzumaki and Monkey D Luffy.. it makes me giddy
If viz midia is rwby's new home when will they announce the 10th volume
@@EdwardMontanez-kq8hu That's tough to know. From the way things sound so far, they don't have any definite production plans for it yet, so things have to develop further behind the scenes before any announcement can be made. I wouldn't be surprised if we don't hear any news on this for another year. If Volume 10 happens in the way we'd traditionally understand it, it wouldn't be released for at least two years in my opinion. But a lot of different outcomes could happen.
Honestly out of all of RT's former IP, RWBY was the one I was least worried about. Between brand recognition, multimarket deals, and a large and loyal fanbase, RWBY always seemed like the best bet to get picked up by a different company.
Still, good to have confirmation
❤❤
I just….i just want a HAPPY END for once
Enough with 4 volumes of despair
And even if animation cannot continue or soemthing else
I just wish that please….let the good guy win for once
That’s why I want it to continue
Yessssssss helllllllll yesssssssssss hellllllllllll yesssssssssss let'ssssssssssssss gooooooooooooooooo
I prefer if they turned it into a full fledged anime, and maybe make a full reboot.
Viz is the perfect fit for RWBY. They done plenty of anime projects in the past including Naruto, Sailor Moon, Bleach, Zom 100 and Hunter X Hunter.
While I normally don’t LIKE when people just JUMP for excitement. We need to be critical in this important time when RWBY is going through these changes. I’m listing of my own predictions but I’m being hopeful, yet honest with my predictions. Don’t keep your expectations too *high*
1: Viz is exploring new things for RWBY so we might get a 2D animation of the new chapters (Like IQ.) I hope we get more manga discussing some of the cut scenes from RWBY. (I.E the final bits of volume 9 hopefully that extend the more emotional scenes.) They have connections to Shuisha and Jump and RWBY was on a Jump Magazine so getting IQ together with RWBY original would be fucking nuts as home release. I just hope it would be as a affordable as the previous RWBY releases on DVD and Blu-ray.
2:I hope Viz guts some of the former staff. Because Viz has so much time and effort they can put into RWBY (pay your damn animators. Please.) Viz has always had plenty of good teams putting effort and time into bringing the shows to the best potential.
3: decent Casting: Now for casting, since Viz is good spirits with most VAs (don’t get me started on crunchy’s shitty abuse of VAs.) Viz has some extremely good connections and well good spirits with some VAs. I.E Johnny Yong Bosch, Michelle Ruff, Erica Mendez ETC. The studio that Viz usually contracts has some decent casting skill and will likely rehire the entire former RWBY cast and that includes Tyrian’s VA hopefully. Grelle is extremely vocal about things, and Viz is usually pretty chill about things. (I mean look at the One Punch Man anime, Hunter X Hunter and Bleach.)
Onto, the not good things.
1: Viz becoming a contractor instead of assisting and making the show better: Since Kerry is coming back as Show: co-creator. I’m hoping that Viz brings in some better writers to hopefully make the show at least somewhat connected to the high action spirits of Monty’s animation.
If they continue with what Kerry and Eddy had in planed for each season/ redundancy. It’s going to the be the same without any form whatsoever and that includes the story and people being critical of it. We need to keep our expectations low because RWBY as of right now, has some bad blood between former fans and super fans of the show.
2: Bad.. casting/ scripting/ localization: contrasting to the 3 good point. Viz over the years has gotten.. sloppy with the localization and scripting part of things (don’t remind me of the OPM manga/ Old (that was funny tho) Salior Moon Dub. God, that was fucking awful. ) The whole wendee Lee shit with Another actor going absolutely batshit crazy over a fictional character and the fans being.. well, fans. There has been some controversy in regards to localizers as of recent, and if they do RWBY manga the Same. It’s probably not going to effect it. Tbh but it’s still a point I like to make. More recently, the former voice of Kenpachi stated Viz didn’t pay him enough money to come back to TYBW. So, if they can’t afford a contract between original casting. It’s going to be a *bad* time for fans. Viz has a shitty history of not doing a *great* job with casting and direction, but they do pretty good for other anime such as Sailor Moon and Hunter X Hunter.
3: Shilling. RWBY as of a right now is in some bad blood; but hopefully. However shilling is one of the biggest things I’m afraid of, businesses tend to do that when the fans need more or when they put specific things together. I mean, look at bumblebee; a fan created ship that the creators 100 percent did a business decision.
Now, I don’t think it’s bad or anything. But shilling can ruin and destroy stories. I mean, look at Star Vs/ Steven Universe. Fucking awful. If Viz follows through with Shilling, we can definitely say for sure it’s not going to end well.
That’s my points I like to make. We need to be concise and honest with ourselves and hopeful that this show brings the best.
I recently join the community. It is good to see the show will be soon in the future, though the thought of it been off the former website got me me sad not to watch the original show.
The next Volume will be announced soon?
It's forgot with anime and Japan looks like this Volume!? think who knows here I'm coming back
That is not confirmed right now.
Viz blog stated *specifically* that is in the works with not only future projects but alternative works.
Hoping for a total reboot, but glad to see this world again in general. Now we wait for Death Battle!
I'm hoping for the opposite, a vol 10 as less change from the previous volumes as possible...
RWBY needs no reboot, as it is perfect the way it is.
Yes pleaseeee Rwby needs a reboot!!
No reboot. Please
So Volume 10???
@StrawHatCloud4116 that isn't confirmed yet. It's something to be excited for, but it'd also good not to get one's hopes up. Even though they are poised to do something like that, they don't seem to have made any deals yet, so it's not a guarantee.
YIPPEE
Viz doesn’t produce anything; another studio has to be the one to produce the show
Yes, I dedicated a portion of this video to discussing this fact.
Is it true viz midia is r w b y home
@@EdwardMontanez-kq8hu yes it is!
I'm so glad RWBY was saved. I would've been heartbroken if such a good show ended while it is getting so close to the end. Cheers to the future of RWBY!
How come Male villains in this show don't seem to get a redemption arc but the female villains do?
Hazel.
@@theseafaringtaco I've been told he's dead.
Cinder's Volume 8 arc was about choosing the opposite of redemption and doubling down on that choice. Mercury has yet to receive much screen-time, but redemption seems to be a very possible outcome for him.
@@robinrising_ Someone feared he would be redeemed only to die.
Men are not the center of RWBY. They are important to the story, but ultimately the story of the female characters takes the most focus unlike most works of fiction. Not saying redemption is not possible nor unwated for the male characters, but that is how it is. If that bothers you, why do you still watch it?
