    Ripchord is a free MIDI plugin for creating and remixing chord progressions. You can create custom chord presets from scratch, load community presets or expansion packs, and also import any MIDI file that contains chords and Ripchord will automatically create a preset from it. Once you have a preset loaded, you can quickly and easily compose progressions by playing single notes to trigger full chords.

      Thanks for coming through and checking out the video family! So as far as the setup in Studio One under instruments you should have a folder called Trackbout. You first drag over any instrument that you want and then drag over ripchord (from the folder) underneath the instrument you selected. Connect to your midi input in the instrument and select ripchord.

    Is there anything better about this than the chord track and chord pads in Cubase? I'm looking at trialing Reaper from Cubase so I'm looking for something to replace the chord track in Cubase. Would this be a good replacement?

    • @PULSEMusicGroup

    Pretty sweet tool. I'm using it for a really niche purpose though... I'm creating an ear training preset containing all the chords relating to one key including triads, 7s, 9s, modal interchange 7th chords and few chords from harmonic minor. so I can randomise the input and test my self on my ability to recognise chord progressions. Don't know if anyone is likely to want such a thing but if anyone is curious I can link my preset.

    • @PULSEMusicGroup
      @PULSEMusicGroup  2 года назад +1

      That awesome. The great thing is that you can do awesome chord progressions in Cubase and it has the circle of fifths and all that to help in those areas. But yes, it can do that and then some. As far as randomizing there are things you can do in the tool bar in the top to change those midi to random. It's a great thing.

    • @PulseCodeMusic
      @PulseCodeMusic 2 года назад +1

      @@PULSEMusicGroup Yeah I use Ableton and its got loads of midi processing tools. I've got it outputting one of 36 different chords/voicings (+ occasional randomly changing the octave up one or down one) every beat. I then record the output so I can identify it by ear and then check my answer.

    • @PULSEMusicGroup
      @PULSEMusicGroup  2 года назад +1

      @@PulseCodeMusic WOW! Didn't know Ableton did that. That's is pretty dope. If I didnt use Cubase I would have probably started on Abelton. That's would have been my next go to.

    • @PULSEMusicGroup
      @PULSEMusicGroup  2 года назад +2

      Funny you should ask that family...... As much as I love Cubase Chord Generator and the ability to do alot of things, it only does simple chords and if I have an idea that needs a complex progression or multiple chords more than just the standard three notes, then RipChord is it. Prisms not only gives you a theme of chord progressions bit it shows you the notes and in theory on RipChord. For beginners it is perfect. But for the record I do use both it all depends on what I'm doing at the time. Great question! Appreciate you check out the video. Blessings! 💯
