- Join me as I tackle a monstrous rat`s nest on the road to recovery in this 1977 Ford LTD Station Wagon that I saved from @AdventuresMadeFromScratch
RUclips definitely needs smell-O-vision, but for now, just take my word for it....this was not a job for the faint of smell.
I am ecstatic on how this car has come out so far! It literally sat in a junkyard for 17 years until 1-month ago.
Thank You again for taking the time to watch my videos!! - Авто/Мото
She's a real beaut, Clark!
When you clean the critters out the engine bay save the necks for me Clark. 😂😂
You think you hate it now , wait till you drive it
I don’t know which is more impressive, the mutton chops or how packed that engine bay was.
Looking good. I wouldn't be ashamed at all to drive it..
No joke on that comment! I was thinking the same thing - pulling it out, buffing it up and taking it for a Sunday drive. These are so few and far between now that they are nearly classic!
Beautiful! I grew up with a baby blue '76 LTD wagon. I would love to find one of them.
We had a baby blue 79 growing up
We had a '78 LTD station wagon light blue, and a had the fake wood trim and wood looking glued on vinyl or something. Wish I could find one again.
BEAUTIFUL job! I had a '65 Country Sedan Wagon. Man do I miss it! There's NOTHING like a full size Wagon! Have fun with it! God bless.
I think the paint is coming back quite well overall. And this car without the plastic wood grain looks quite attractive overall.
When i was raising kids in the eighties i would buy these old wagons. Cheap they were awesome. Then came the Mini van.
Nice, i currently own a 78' LTD wagon, Dove Grey with dark red vinyl split bench seats, manual windows with the power rear window and power rear lock on the drivers door.
The first car was a 1983 Crown Victoria Country Squire station wagon. We called it the "Love Wagon"😂😂😂
A whole generation of critters was living in under that hood! 😄
What a nice old Ford. My family had a 1973 Ford Torino ( not Gran) in that color - I remember learning how to detail cars on that and could make it look like showroom new for the 10 years we had that car. Ford wagons were bullet-proof and were so good. It is amazing at how far Ford has fallen with the garbage they've made over the past decade. I was a loyal Ford buyer for nearly 40 years and finally gave up on them when they killed their car lines. Thanks for saving that car. Can't believe how good that car looks after being neglected for nearly 20 years.
Looking great man I’m glad ya saved it brings back memories!!😎👍🏻🇺🇸🦅
Yeah I wish it had the rear seats though like our childhood one lol
Before I bought my 78' LTD wagon from North Carolina, I looked at a 78' LTD wagon in Glendale, CA, it was Champaign with a dark brown vinyl interior, no luggage rack and every available option, it also had a working power moonroof, which seemed to be factory, it is the only wagon I've seen with that option, it needed a lot of body work and interior work, it was faded from the sun, the seller wanted $3000 for it, it ran with current tags, if only it was in better condition I would have bought it in a heartbeat, the other owners didn't know what they had.
That is a very nice rust free car, which in itself makes it valuable and worth fixing.
Like 99.9% rust free... but yeah, close enough for me
Cool wagon, I love the fan in the cargo area!
That car most likely has the tow package with that hydro boost set up. Sure way to check is behind the drivers taillight inside of the car behind the trim panel would have a bunch of relays for the trailer lights. Old school trailer mule!
That's what I was thinking. It has a hitch on it, and a battery isolator. I assume someone towed a camper with it originally.
those poverty caps are mercury caps. thats the mercury logo. surprised the ford ones wouldnt. thank God you put white walls back on her. love those mid seventies ford/mercury wagons.
I'm pretty sure they are Ford and correct for the car
Nice save man and it cleaned up good
That's a very rare find. It was nice to see you go thru it. It looks great I would drive it everywhere. If you wanna drop it off at my house that would be fine.😊
Beautiful wagon, Sir! Congrats!
,Real nice car . clark
I grew up with the very same wagon in the very same color. Was a reliable car for our Family for many years. Brought back a lot of memories.
Been waiting for this one! Nice score from Silas. Those clay bars are handy. I won't buff an old car without clay barring it first.
Hi Clark. here is a little trick after you clean up the motor compartment to remove the water, you can use a leaf blower to help you dryed up.
We did, that clip didn't work unfortunately. Was having camera issues that day.
It looks amazing.
The stock wheels and hubcaps just work great on this old school wagon. Keep em with the white stripe walls.
Great jobb that car is happy now 👍🏻
Greatings from Sweden
Replacement carpet is an affordable upgrade. This car deserves to finish being brought back to occasional driver enjoyment status. It would be super cool to get everything working on this car. Lights, windows, turn signals, ac, cruise and maybe radio. I thought these cars were so uncool back when they were new. Now that I am officially an old guy, I kinda enjoy these big old boats of cars. Roomy, floaty and comfortable with a ride well suited to the really lumpy roads we have all over now days. Have forgotten the benefits these old cars with 10inches of suspension travel and 70 and 78 series aspect sidewall tires had vs today’s cars with only about 5 inches of travel and low profile 45 and 55 series aspect sidewall tires.
As a kid growing up in the 70's my Godparents had a 71 Country Squire with a 429 4V that boat would haul if you got on it.
When I was a kid, I so wanted a dark green 1971 Country Squire. Our neighbors had one that was new and it was simply stunning to look at and to ride in.
That is a very nice car Ihad a 1972 LTD Two door with a 400 in
Nice rig
Love your channel had to subscribe. Keep it comin. Please
That 99 cent deal was a good one!!
This is fantastic!
That is crazy to see it in the junkyard to just about on the road awesome
Great save ! I owned a 71 country squire back in the late 70's and was the family car. It stayed mostly at home but on wknds was used alot. Took on many family trips and had a row of decales on the drivers side long window. Kids loved it. Unfortunetly it blow a head gasket one day and i trades up to a 81 caprice wagon which I loved and ran that for many years . subbed
Maybe some narrow beauty rings ?
Never was a trim ring kinda guy I guess
Not a Ford guy but had a 78 custom 500. 351, auto and it would just float down the highway. Just had to put a finger on the steering wheel to turn that car. Won't be them that solid ever again.
Custom 500 is a rare find today
@@fomocopowersgarage7103 I wish I still had it. I'm still watching this awesome video and going to check out more of your channel, this may sound absolutely ridiculous but mine was dark brown and the clear had faded like this wagon and I used to hit the paint with WD40. Guarantee you'll love it! It pulls contaminants right out of the paint and leaves a shiny waterproof finish. My T-Bird looked fantastic!
Keep it
Reminds me of Michael Myers stationwagon.
That solenoid on the carb is for idle up when the AC is turned on.
Thank you!
Love the wagon. Good on you. For saving it. Thanks ❤❤❤❤❤
On the carb….. that’s not for cruise control. That’s the a/c kickup. When the ac turns on it kicks up the idle to accommodate the extra drag of the compressor to keep the engine at a more favorable idle. When ac torn off it kicks off and the. Idle drops back down.
Our neighbor had a blue wagon just like that with the same hubcaps ! It was a former state car. How many miles on the wagon ?
Not sure
Good video I just got finished driving my Ltd wagon around on the country roads. Put my arm out the window and enjoyed the drive. Can’t beat dual exhaust with red devils coming out the sides lol. I’m wondering if you can buy pins for the rear door in those cars the back door is sagging. It’s really hard to open.
Never understood what determined if they got hydro boost or vacuum power brakes. Had a 77 lincoln mark 1234 what ever the hell roman numeral it was and it was a 460 with hydroboost. Couldn't tell the difference in that and pneumatic power brakes.
The zip tie was on the the kick-down linkage for the transmission. There should be a groove to accept an 'e' clip to retain the kick-down rod.
Yeah, I know, I used the wrong terminology. It's already been replaced with the correct clip
Thank you though
Car lovers need a lot more FoMoCo. Too much chevy ls, yuch.😊
For sale ???Thank you
351M ?
With wheel covers, the wheels are mat black, not body color.
Correct. But I like em this way better.
One must never ever use the armrest for a door pull or as an aemrest. Consider them decorative. They are the worst part on the entire car. They are also rare to find in one piece. The cheap model with out power windows lasted best. When looking for replacements do not discriminate based on color. They can be painted.
Since the car sat the water pump will most probably fail. At that time replace the retarded timing set with the nylon over aluminum top gear with a non retarded 3 keyway double row timing set and use the advanced keyway for 30 more HP.
Also inspect rear bumper for rust out on the support. I would only run non ethanol gas in that.
Yup.
