  • Well it's summertime here in North Texas and the its hot as you know what. Its also been slim pickins as far as classics in the yards lately so I haven't been posting as much. I actually seen this 1972 Ford LTD come arrive on a flatbed last week but didn't think they'd put it out for parts this quickly. I actually thought they might try to sell it whole first. Here it is now one week later and she's being parted out. Its kind of a shame as this one is essentially all there and not too bad as far as rust on body damage goes. The interior was all there albeit some if it sun baked. The only rust i could see was the trunk floor or lack there of as well as a little around the back window. Even though it was a vinyl top car, it actually fared fairly well in terms of roof rust. Under the hood she waa all there as well with a 351 Windsor 2 barrel. All in all nit a bad car with plenty of good parts to be saved before it. ultimately meets the crusher.

Whoa Nelley, three for one and it's done. To use your term, "It's hot as bolanas" all over the country. I have to go to Ohio for work. No real relief there. First thing I packed was my bathing suit as that's how I'll cool off after a day's worth of work and after dinner (as well as get some exercise).
1967 Falcon Futura with the VIN for the win: 7 for 1967 model year, K for Kansas City, MO assembly, 21 for Falcon Futura four door sedan with bench seat, T for 200 CID straight six with one barrel and the rest is the production sequence. The Kansas City, MO plant aka known as "KCAP" or Claycomo Assembly still operates under Ford today. We got the tag, we can brag: 54B for Falcon Futura four door sedan with bench seat, 6 for Light Beige exterior paint, 4U for Parchment/Black interior trim, 05D for Wednesday April 5, 1967 production, 62 for Houston, TX sales district, 2 for 2.83:1 rear axle ratio, non-locking and W for C-4 automatic transmission. I believe this door might be from another vehicle because the paint on the inside of the trunk is blue, not tan, but who knows.
1990 Ford E-250 Van with the VIN for the win: 1FD for US made Ford truck, incomplete, G for 8,001 to 9,000 # Gross Vehicle Weight Rating, S24 for E-250 cargo van, H for 5.8L (351 CID) V8 with EFI, 4 is a check digit, L for the 1990 model year, H for Lorain, OH assembly and the rest is the production sequence. The Lorain, OH plant operated from 1958 to 2005. No tag, can't brag, but possible code EF Bright Currant Red exterior paint. The Lorain plant produced over 8 million vehicles in the time it operated.
1972 Ford LTD: That company name is just the sticker company. The person that owned that Ford was a golfer. The dealership is Helm-Lary and was owned by Yale Lary for about a decade. He was a football player as well. The dealership is long gone and you can make out where it was, but it appears it's a strip mall now. We got the VIN, we win: 2 for 1972 model year, G for Chicago, IL assembly, 62 for two door LTD hardtop, H for 351 V8 with two barrel, and the rest is the production sequence. The Chicago, IL plant still operates today. We got the tag, we can brag: 65H for LTD two door hardtop, 5J for Medium Ginger Bronze metallic exterior paint, DF for Ginger interior trim, 2 for 2.75:1 rear axle ratio, non-locking, X for FMX automatic transmission and 52 for Dallas, TX sales district. The 351 V8 like the bigger 400 V8 (VIN code "S") brother was another sloppy engine with awful carburetion and ignition. The 1972 version of this 351 (which was rated in net HP) was about 177 HP.
Whoa Nelley, LTD and it's over for thee. It's a van and it needs a hand. The Falcon 'bird became a turd. That's it, time to quit. 351 and it's done. Motorcraft needs a life raft. Futura made in KCAP will soon be flat. Van made in Lorain and nothing but a pain. Going to be flat and that's that. FMX is a big mess. C-4 and soon to be out the door. All going to get squished and perhaps some here, the FOMOCO faithful, I think Benny, but ya guessed, nah, not the Google Man are going to be pissed.

Holy cow! Does anybody remember the movie Gator with Burt Reynolds? He had a Ford with a 428 or 429,same color except it was a 4 door. I'm a Chevy guy but always loved that Ford 2 or 4 door! I am truly passionate about old cars and I hope someone saves it 🙏👍👌😍. By the way, I love your videos, but sometimes they are unsettling for me😢. Keep them coming 😊

This LTD is very close to the one that my grandparents bought in the Fall of 1971. Same color inside and out. Their car did not have the bumper guards, but it had the remote control mirror on the driver's side and the matching manual passenger mirror. Their car also had the 400 V8 instead of the 351. You can tell an early production car because there is no fasten seat belt light on the passengers side of the dash. I remember the car could seat six people with no problem and was so smooth and quiet.

I bought a 1972 Ford LTD in 1991. 2 door, 400 cubic inch engine. A very solid car, nice big car ride. By 1991 it seemed like an antique compared to the jelly bean front wheel drive cars that dominated the roadways. It was like a gas guzzling dinosaur. I loved it.

This is the reason I love watching all the old classic tv series like MeTV and FeTV. Classic TV series like from Perry Mason to Barnaby Jones. Like there was an episode of Barnaby Jones where this female was driving a 75 or a 76 Black 2Dr Mercury Brougham Grand Marquis LS Park Lane. The car had every option you can think 🤔 💭 🧐 of you name it it had it, right down to the highly buffed, highly polished aluminum dish mag rims. Like I said before and I’ll say it again if I ever hit a big huge jackpot lottery like the mega millions or power ball i would start my own Antique, Classic and Vintage Automobile Collection. With all the Big 3.
    Sincerely Yours Truly

Wow, what a complete *WASTE*. *SAD* The yard should've tried to sell it because it seems like it was in decent condition!
There's a ton of savable interior pieces, doors, hood, front end, decklid, and motor as well! I hope they all get saved! What's amazing is you finding the Build Sheet of the car, even though it disintegrated. Texas heat & sun wreaks havoc on cars.
The front end is desirable for many Ford guys because it's before the "safety bumpers" were implemented in '73. Save the front end!
I think Benny would too have been pissed that the LTD is going to waste.

There's a shot in that movie or one of its sequels where you can see Burt Reynolds shift the column shift up into the park position before getting out of the car. I don't think those sedans (Custom or Custom 500 model) used in the movies really had 4 speed shifts. The only manual shift you could get in a '71 Ford was a three speed manual on the column and I believe it was discontinued in mid-year.

8:42 I hate how ppl will be rough with the cars and damage them just cuz they're in a scrap yard. why damage something or be super rough with the cars and trucks? Especially if they are classics. someone could be looking for that bumper and not be able to use it cuz some f@ckt@rd decided to dent the sh!t out of the bumper! I just don't see the point of destroying something unless its heading right to the crusher anyway! this is what makes me hate my own species!
