I had the actual unicorn then.... 71 sedan delivery two door with the 400, an a console shift... get this, the old guy on haggerty has this car as a four door wagon with a 429 and .... AND.... a four speed from factory with the build sheet and the original owner lives near you there. He drives it all over the usa. Mine had the buckets and haggerty one is tool... It was one of one only built so it is a treasure. I owned way too many fords in my day as they were the cheapest to buy and bad ass cars. Yours is exceptional

I believe Ford offered bucket seats, console and floor shift on the LTD convertible and 2 door hardtop through the 1972 model year. It was the last of what used to be the XL.

That's a cool car, and I love the buckets/console. I imagine you guys aren't selling that one for cheap, and nor would I. Years ago I went and looked at a rusty '71 LTD 2 door coupe sitting in a guy's front yard--wouldn't turn over, so I passed. The next day I drove by, and this fool was underneath of it replacing the starter with only the bumper jack holding the car up...and that front bumper was rusty, too

@Jay Smart Hope whoever gets it does not drive it during the winter at all. Anyway, if you've a set of the H4/H1 5.75" round conversion headlamps, I'd pop those in there. Better beam patten than the old sealed beam units. I'd also get a set for your Cavalier in the 4"x6" format. It'll help a lot on the backroads in your area.

    • @69Dartman
      @69Dartman 4 года назад

I put a Hella set I found at a garage sale for 10 bucks in my Dart. So much better all around than original style headlights. I also put 80/100 bulbs in them. Nobody flashes you, they don't blind people on low beam because of the cutoff and your can see so much better. On newer cars find a set of decent aftermarket projector headlights and you get basically the same beam pattern. I put a set in my 95 Neon and they are also so much better than the fogged out originals in every way.

2V does not stand for 2 Valves. It is a 2V head. A 4V head also sports 2 valves but the intake and exhaust ports are bigger.
Wikipedia: The biggest physical difference between the 2V and 4V Cleveland heads is the huge intake and exhaust ports on the 4V heads. ... Since all Cleveland blocks are the same, you can swap 2V heads for 4Vs and vice-versa, but you'll also need to make sure you have the right exhaust manifolds/headers to match.

I have a 1972 Ford LTD Country Squire for 15 years. Original olive green paint with woodgrain. Also 400-2V // C6. No console, but same AM/FM radio. ;)
There isn't even surface rust on the frame, suspension or brake lines.
Looks like off the assembly line. Interior still smells new and R-12 AC blows cold. Full size wagons are awesome, but I always liked the taillights Ford used on the LTD sedans / convertible.

yep, that's a rare one, alright. By '72, the bucket seat/console option isn't even mentioned in the brochures, so it looks like this was the last year for that option. Too bad there's no a/c though!
The 'stirrup' style shifter was a thing from about '68-72 and you'll find them in various Buicks (Rivieras and Skylark/GS models) and Chevys (Monte Carlos, Chevelle, Malibu, etc.) as an option about that time. Loved them!

My father saw it as well and we had one in about 2 weeks. At first I thought it was the new Thunderbird, because the styling was very different from the former Galaxie/LTD series. and dad thought it was the new Mercury. Very rare car. Clint Eastwood drove a similar car in one of the Dirty Harry movies, it was Harry's own car and the unmarked police cars were Custom 500 4-doors, so the Ford product placement team were big in that one. There is a scene where he parks it in the car park at his apartment and has a run-in with the bad motorbike cops. His had the bench seat and column shift, though. The bucket seats, centre console and floor shift has got to be a super rare option on a convertible. And the story attached to the car and the pink bear is just wonderful...

Awesome car. Very well kept car. Not many of those vintage cars left that have NOT been modified. I say only sell the car to someone that will not tear it apart. I think the pink bear accompanying the car it neat. It gives the car more character with its history. This car could be at least a 3 figure vehicle especially that it is all original.

What a awesome car with a awesome story. Please make sure the new owners that buy it know that the bear HAS to stay with it, even if it's in the trunk, it is not to LEAVE the car in anyway shape or form! (besides to clean it or clean the car, something of that nature, etc! Great find, wish you could tell us what you paid for it and what your selling it for... Maybe update us after that happens? That's always my FIRST question and it KILLS me not knowing! Lol even a "close" estimate would work!
Why the job change? Surprised you didn't talk about it... If it's something personal, no reason to indulge anymore, but we care about you and your choices, etc we would love to know! Would make a great video with lots of views if you told us about that, how the mobile home is coming, what else is new, etc perhaps a "complete update on car fleet, mobile home progress and what's new in life!" what do you think?!? Lol you can use the title boss.. Just checked and wow 94k subscribers! Awesome I remember when you were at 15k! Keep on going up my friend, add more ads to the videos, normally I'm not surprised to see atleast 6 in a video this length, get that money bro I have no problem watching them, not skipping to support you in any way possible my friend!

Those 71's with buckets and console are rare cars! It was an option in 71 and maybe 72 but the option was gone in 73. Not too many made that way!

2:46...Love them wall to wall taillights on the 1971 LTD's. The Galaxies did not have that large taillight in the middle.

Wow that’s awesome you should keep it man that’s super rare👍👍. I know kind of off topic but I was at a junkyard back in the 90’s for parts for my two old Monte Carlos and found a 73 with three on the tree (an extreme oddball) impossible to tell how many were actually made because they grouped the numbers with the Malibu. I kick myself for not grabbing it (even though the body was rotted - New York). Wish I could grab that LTD. was that a gray 77 Ltd or merc grand marquis in the background?
