    Nice mod! Planning on getting a K4V2 and some AKKO switches per the recommendation of a friend. This does sound good though. Unfortunately, I don't know if I'll have the time to lube each switch by hand.

    • @gaziaOG
      @gaziaOG  2 года назад +4

      Haha totally understand. I treated the lubing of the switches almost as a meditation activity rather than a chore, kept up with it for many days although it's only a few seconds on video haha. It kinda enhanced the satisfaction when I finally finished the board. It wasn't something that I wanted to finish fast so I could use it. It was something I wanted to take my time, so I could eventually appreciate it. : P

    That usb type c cable is ace, love how its magnetic. Could the link where you got it from?

    • @gaziaOG
      @gaziaOG  2 года назад +4

      Haha glad you noticed it! It's actually just a normal coiled aviator cable that you could get anywhere from customs to cheap ones on aliexpress. I just attached a L-shaped magnetic head to the USB-C cable I bought separately. I like the idea of hovering my cable around the area and let it snap on, than stabbing my keyboard to death before I align the insert without looking. : P Just google for 'magnetic usb c', it should show up anywhere from Amazon to any local online shopping platforms.

    • @gaziaOG

      It's a weird thing, I had these baby fence for the bed and there were these white foam beneath the cloth of the railings to prevent the kid from hitting his head against it. When my kid grew up and stopped using the fencing, I kinda extracted the thin layer of white foam.
      You can find the switches by searching for 'Gateron Ink Blacks V2', and also 'this is plastic keycaps' for the keycaps on Shopee.

  • @darkangelo
    @darkangelo 2 года назад +1

    Where did you get keycaps? I'm having a hard times getting keycaps for k4 keychron. The packs i've been getting always missing something like small 0 key or whatever.

    • @gaziaOG
      @gaziaOG  2 года назад +1

      Mine are clones bought off Aliexpress, which are as good as the original ones in terms of print, and material used. I really love the look of it but the original one keeps getting sold out. It also really depends on what profile keys are you looking for. This particular one is XDA profile. Before purchasing any keycap sets, do check the number of caps that are actually included: eg the alternate versions, different versions for different types of special keys for various keyboard formats.. etc. Look out for a keycap map that displays all caps included in the set on the product pages when browsing just to get a clear idea.

      I'm French and ISO-FR Azerty layout keycaps are a pain to find on the web ...
      The best you can do for now, is to create your layout on WASD Keyboard by uploading your own file.
      You can customize each key with any sign, color and size.
      But this is cheap plastic, and for some colors they are glowing if you have leds on under the key

      The sound and feel of switches, tactile or linear, are hard to justify with youtube reviews and sound test videos. If you have a local store, try going down to get a feel for yourself. If you're feeling generous, you could order a switch tester, and or buy a small amt of each switch that you are interested in and test them first. It really comes down to your physical preference. Other than that, all other tutorials are freely available with a search.

    • @gaziaOG
      @gaziaOG  11 месяцев назад

      Hey Ziponin, these caps arn't original, they are clones I bought off Aliexpress and the quality is superb as well. Go to AE and search for 'this is plastic' keycaps and you'll find it. You really don't have to pay for a lot of money to get some branded caps.

    • @gaziaOG
      @gaziaOG  2 года назад

      I do feel that its spring is a little on the stiffer side. But it’s up to my personal preference after I tested a range of switches. I like to type fast and hard so it doesn’t feel too different from other keys. I suggest you get one or two samples to test before you commit to it. For me it’s perfect.

    • @gaziaOG
      @gaziaOG  2 года назад

      You only need to lube the ends as they are the only contact points with the internals of the switch. Some people lube the whole thing by throwing it in a bag of lube and shaking, it's to save time, but IMO I just want to be optimal haha.
