The fact that he was a musicologist, and "re- discovered" the old guys, and helped them into new careers speaks volumes about his dedication to the Blues. A real Mensch.
One of the best interviews ever! Covering the South side of Chicago, the blues scene, Expansions into psychedelic rock scene , with such honesty And freaking clarity!
It would be great to have a transcription of these interviews attached to the videos so all Michael´s fans from other countries (Spanish talking) would be able to enjoy all that he says!!!
Wow...once you get used to the tone and bluntness of his opinions ...he is very honest. Tells it like it is. Very interesting comments about Janis Joplin. Also about his own heroin experiences. Did he ever write a book before he passed? That would be very revealing to read.
@@jamesbond4633 yeah, i got mine back in the day, somebody needs to reprint it, or maybe release it with a cd box set or something. That's about a dollar a page.
Tampa Red was my hero since I read Chuck Berry in an interview say he was influenced by him-Carl Hogan and Charlie Christian. Tampa was the one I never heard of. I think he lived till 1985!
I adore Bloomfield but I would like to say even setting the other members of the Grateful Dead aside all of whom are talented Jerry and Pig certainly need no one to defend them. What they put down on wax speaks for itself
Great musician but he pushes aside Roger McGuinn as someone who was a folkie who had no business with an electric instrument XD. That guy taught him how to bend and McGuinn said he had a punk attitude and was sorta jealous. I think he was more of an electric blues player, but the roots blend in with folk music. You had Blind Blake and stuff. As far as lead work for those folk bands, they had some tasteful stuff. Jorma Kaukonen I wish didn't do lead work with the out of control vibratos XD
I don't know the whole story however he says he was never physically addicted to junk, yet dies of an overdose less than 6 years later, sounds like BS to me. Loved his playing, RIP Michael.
@Nathaniel Birthurth for sure not meth. bloom was already adhd and bipolar, and meth would only increase that. he shot junk to relax and to calm his hyperactive mind
@Nathaniel Birthurth I heard that he O.D.ed on heroin, and valium at a party. Supposedly he was shot up with meth, and coke to try to bring him around.

Mike was the sweetest " most alive" person I ever met...he was a brave man, right to the end. Paul Butterfield also died way too young ..miss them💔

Did Bloomfield think he was hot shit when Hendrix "cut him."

Billy Boy Addicts rarely admit their addiction. They believe they can walk away from drug use at anytime, if they choose. They rarely do.
yep,Crazy
I believe him over you ‘
