What a consummate professional and a great personality he had! He had perfect cadence, great fills and a certain swing to his playing. Started listening to the Stones 42 years ago when I was 8 years old and been listening to Let It Bleed, Sticky Fingers, Exile, Black and Blue, Some Girls and Tattoo You all on loop since I heard the news...I focused on the drumming this time and heard new things, as always, from Charlie that I didn't catch the hundreds of times before. What a gentleman!! Actually, by all accounts which I have read, it wasn't Charlie who was drunk when he hit Mick. Mick was & said something like -- you're MY drummer. Charlie immediately left hotel room, went to his room & dressed in Saville Row suit, complete with cravat, returned to room, punched Mick and said, "you're MY singer". Love it!!!
according to keith . charlie was asleep in his room around 2am when a drunk mick rang charlie and said hows my drummer , charlie then gets up and around twenty minutes later walks into the room immaculately dressed and clocks mick along with the famous "your my singer" reply, Keith claims he grabbed mick to stop him falling over a railing into a pool and calmed charlie down , according to keith the fact that mick was wearing keith's wedding coat and he didn't want it ruined was the reason he grabbed Mick and stopped charlie from giving him another smack , if you can believe that last bit.
Thank you Charlie. Thank you to his family, his friends & everyone who helped & supported him so he could bring his work & playing to all of us. The Rolling Stones convinced me to BE a musician, singer & songwriter in 1981 when Tattoo You came out. Me & my friends talked our 5th grade teacher into letting us borrow the phonograph player from the school library, we put on the LP & air banded the whole album for the class on a rainy day for indoor lunch recess. I was Mick. I was never the same after hearing that record. What a unique drummer Charlie is & was. He sounds & seems like an interesting & special person, and a regular guy. This is not the end of a wonderful thing that will go on forever, but it sure feels like it for a terrible moment, and will certainly be the end of the opportunity to see greatness like this & his on the earth in person. Every passing day & soul I yearn for heaven & the afterlife more & more. Thank God for that. I used to be scared to die. Now I'm actually quite excited to see, be with, and hear them all again. Rest peacefully, Charlie...a little anyway...and then get back to what you do up there. We'll miss you for now.
Charlie is a treasure. I'm on the verge of 59 and I've been a Stones fan since I was a kid. Please take care of yourself Charlie. We love you and thanks for being a classy individual. Congrats on being married for over 50 years to the same woman. True and solid commitment to marriage vows in a career with so much temptation.

You know how strong of a personality you have to have in order to balance out the outrageous and flamboyant personalities of Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood? Charlie Watts is an absolute titan of a man!
An unassuming, decent gentleman who always had the perfect beat for every Stones song. He never overdrums but he plays in a way that you know he is there making an important contribution to every song.
I could listen to Charlie for ever... such an unassuming guy considering he is in the band he is in???...I love the fact he goes back to his everyday life after historic record breaking tours!!!...and one of the most understated drummers ever!
I';ve been drumming since '67 and Charlie and Ringo were my biggest influences at that time. The best groover that seemed to be timeless.....it's a sad day, RIP Charlie Watts
Doug Barde-Mac. Actually there are quite a lot of Charlie interviews these days, on YT. There's a good one with him taking us through his beloved drum set up ( on stage), and a very good one called 'If it Ain't got that Swing' talking about his style and influences. Well worth looking up. Also look up 'ABC & D of boogie woogie' with his life long friend, bass player Dave Green. Recommended!!
I really enjoyed this interview. He's a true gentleman. Charlie was my first musical influence as a young drummer, I had their 12x5 album hot off the press before it hit the radio waves, thanks to my father working in distribution of London Records in Detroit, Mich.

Charlie’s always been so sweet and modest. He’s held those clowns together like glue. Thank god. I don’t know how he put up with half the shit. Love them all. Nice to hear him compliment Brian on his hustling.
" Charlie's good tonight ain't he " Jagger 1966. It seems like yesterday when I was 19 and talking to my beautiful girlfriend Kathy in 1969 about how much longer the Rolling Stones would last it was almost seven years already, and here we are 49 years later and they are still performing and all alive, after all the sex and drugs except for Brian (God bless).
Literally watching this with chill bumps all over. The man. The myth. The legend…thinks of others first, sits in humility, recognizes his scope and reach without superiority and realistically balances the fame with what matters most. It’s what I do not who I am. And that is his pervasive charm. RIP Charlie
I use to think "Charlie" was the weird one! Seriously! He was just so, mellow and in that lovely suit and tie playing his drums! Then when my dad told me about his being married to the same woman for so, long,(like child hood sweethearts), and he added, "The Stones" probably would not have survived if it weren't for the stable genius of Charlie" ;) My parent's, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousing, all devoted marriages and great till' deaths. That to me more than anything else! Thank you for being such a prime example of what human's can be and do with the right partner and love!!!!! Kudos!!!!!!!
I've never heard a bad word about anybody from this man. If only the rest of the world would listen to him for five minutes. God Bless him and his family.
Poor Charlie, that chair looks so uncomfortable! Who's idea was that? As far as leaving the band? Keith has often said that if Charlies goes, the Stones are done.

Charlie the reluctant Rock Star . But what a simple man . He does not live in the fast lane , ones cars and does not drive and is not caught up in the modern world too much and seems quite happy to be where and what he is . Amazing drummer , very humble and honest about the band the music and interviews . I love watching him and hearing him when he does speak.
It’s interviews like this that restores my faith in digital media, and its ability to store these great personalities for us all to enjoy. Saw them live once, Charlie was fantastic.
Charlie and Bill the ultimate bottom. I can distinctly remember hearing Stones live 1964 tour. The bass and drums were a cut or two above the norm. Solid!
Charlie Watts and Ringo Starr are very similar. Human metronomes. Perfect senses of time. Very under-rated drummers, very under-rated styles. They don’t indulge in all that over-the-top flash, they keep the beat solid with some subtle, often complex stuff. And personalities to help keep a band glued together. No Charlie, no Stones. No Ringo, no Beatles.

David Glowacki Thats more the case. You are absolutely right. You can sense it on/in/from the reactions to his death by mick and keith.
In fact, I've spent more time listening to the Stones than to my own family and friends. Rest in peace, Charlie!
Charles Robert Watts. One of the gentlemen of rock.
The “Wembley Whammer” as I heard Mick reference once.
Yes ....one woman since 69 ....or much earlier. ...
Almos lived normal. ...
As it was possible. ....
Because he is a rolling stone .....lol
Hello Chris, how are you doing and what is the weather like? I wish you a happy weekend.
@@allysonhanks9159 Hi Allyson, I am fine thanks. Where I live in California the weather is cool and mild. Getting a nice breeze. How about you?
@@chrisbacos Hi Chris. I'm in New York now to see my godmother. I live in Long Beach CA, nice to meet you here. It's cool here in New York too about 20 degree outside. I hope you don't mind us chatting sometimes to get to know each other? Looking forward to talk to you in the morning goodnight.
R.I.P. Charlie Watts we''ll miss you :(
Keep on drummin`Charlie. God bless you all.
Oh he has. God took good care of those British lads.
I do always love an interview with Charlie Watts. Thanks for the one's you give Charlie!
Hello David, how are you doing and what is the weather like? I wish you a happy weekend.
All the superstars of the rock world could learn a lot from Charlie nice man amazing personality
Charlie is my darling. Class man, great drummer, effortless style.
If the Stones called it quits..each and everyone of us would lose a part of us...they are so interwoven into the DNA of most of us.
Irreplaceable kind, humble and pleasant gentleman of Rock Music for the Rolling Stones, a big loss for them and also to the world . R.I.P. Charlie All Fans miss you alot !!!
Absolutely terrific interview, thank you Charlie. And thank you for your fine work.
Hello William, how are you doing and what is the weather like? I wish you a happy weekend.
I could listen to him for hours. Hes a brilliant and totally unpretentious raconteur
This is what we needed is to hear his story and we need to be focusing on him, not the rest of the band. RIP Charlie Watts🙏
Sorry to hear that you left this planet you will always be in our hearts you great 👍 drummer 🥁
Charlie is a fine gentleman and excellent musician.
Great interview. Charlie top man. It makes a change to hear his take on things
rest in peace to the absolutely amazing pioneering man: The Charlie Watts. You will surely be missed❤
Great interview, NME, and I happened to think: that's the most I've ever heard from him, in the zillion years I've been a fan.
Hello Doug, how are you doing and what is the weather like? I wish you a happy weekend.
Charlie has always been my favourite Stone. He is very down to earth and shows no arrogance in his interviews.
I really enjoyed this interview. He's a true gentleman. Charlie was my first musical influence as a young drummer, I had their 12x5 album hot off the press before it hit the radio waves, thanks to my father working in distribution of London Records in Detroit, Mich.
I bought your album used at Sams Jams about 30 years ago. Maybe? Its Mono. Just jivin'.
We knew this day would eventually come, but silently hoped it never would. The man is gone but his legacy lives on.
R.I.P. Charlie. Thanks for the memories and the music.
What a totally cool guy. An absolute gentleman.
He is such a gentleman. Always so good to hear him speak.
How humble....he cannot be replaced
RIP Charlie. Thanks for all the music!
what can you say about a man with such a career? you are truly the best drummer in all the songs you have contributed in the stones. nobody holds a candle to you. I love what you brought to music and may God bless your life.
Hello Mark, how are you doing and what is the weather like? I wish you a happy weekend.
Fantastic interview! A true artist.
He leaves you and you want to listen to more he's so good to listen to
As far as what I know, and what I've seen over the years, just a great musician, no scandals professional percussionist, will always be remembered, not a rockstar but I great Rockstar English gentleman!
Hello John, how are you doing and what is the weather like? I wish you a happy weekend.
Hello Gerald, how are you doing and what is the weather like? I wish you a happy weekend.
Keith has often said that if Charlies goes, the Stones are done.
pac401 it’s his chair in his house
well, he is used to drumstools, so it should be makeable to sit in this one quite a time. 😋
The chair looks fine.

THEN I GUESS ON

R.I.PEACE CHARLIE AN
BRIAN... NOW YOU TWO
can REMINISCE 2gether!
🇬🇧💔🇺🇸
So much class! The classiest rockstar in the world if you ask me!
Tim Tibbitts 70
it always the drummers
Tim Tibbitts! You're describing a back-up musician. No Noel Redding, no Jimi Hendrix Experience.
Well Said. Absolutely Amazing Mr. Watts ❤️
I agree with this 💕
I could listen to him talk for hours! What a great man
We will never ever replace you Charlie, I hope you're enjoying your new gig dear one.
Charlie always spoke most honestly about Brian, I appreciate that. 8:41
May he REST in PEACE...brought rock n roll joy to so many of us! ALL RESPECT to you sir!
