Composers: Michiru Yamane, Yūzō Koshiro.
Arranged by: David Soria [DavSound AKA DartzSoryu]
This is the second album from a series of six that will feature my remastered renditions from all the Castlevania Games from the NDS and GBA, next comes Order of Ecclesia, subscribe and like to be notified when I upload it.
As many of you noticed, my skills have improved a bit if we compare this work over my Dawn of Sorrow Remaster treatment, so maybe in the future I will re-do that album as well, you can have a peek of that if you listen closely to the last bonus track on this album.
I have added some extras in some tracks, for example, in the second loop of Bloodlines Bequeathed, there's a subtle change that I'm sure you will love, also I have added Reincarnated Souls as a bonus track (both arranged and DS-stylized) because this is supposed to be a direct squel from Bloodlines, but we never got neither Jhon or Eic as post game playable characters, that could have been one of the coolest moments in the game and with these tracks I imagined how it could have been.
I hope you enjoy this as much as I enjoyed doing it, it took a very long time to be fionished compared to Dawn of Sorrow, so maybe the next volume, Order of Ecclesia, will take more time as well, so expect an update in the upcoming months.

Jonathan and Charlotte are back in action!
You don't know how much this means to me, man. Reliving the childhood in a more modern way, after just finishing the Netflix series. Castlevania fanbase, please don't die.
" Castlevania fanbase, please don't die." that ain't happening :P
The Castlevania fanbase is a stubborn bunch! Konami hasn't been able to kill us yet.
Even if we die. Every 100 years, when the Gods forget about us, we shall rise again
Same thing for me choi
Well obviously I love Castlevania still but with all the unwanted derivative pachinko nonsense I'm migrating to the non Konami Bloodstained games and the Netflix show now.
In 2006, Castlevania celebrated its 20th anniversary with its second DS instalment, Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin (aka Akumajo Dracula: Gallery of Labyrinth). Michiru Yamane intended the score for the title to be one worthy of the series’ grand legacy and even invited legendary composer Yuzo Koshiro to make a few guest contributions. A few months after the game was released, Konami released a two disc album for the score, making it the first time a portable game in the series received its own release.
As with most Castlevania soundtracks, the main highlight of Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin are the various stage themes. “Gaze Up at the Darkness” 57:43 for instance, continues Michiru Yamane’s tradition of creating powerful rock-orchestral anthems. It’s up there with “Dracula’s Castle” with its catchy melodies and dramatic effect. Those looking for more subtle depictions will enjoy “Silent Prison” 22:09 which is a somewhat slower and darker twist on the series’ typical anthem, while “Behind the Gaze” 1:27:32 and “Chaotic Playground” reflect Yamane’s strengths in creating ghostly neo-classical dances. Other highlights include “Sandfall” and “Hail from the Past”, which blend Middle Eastern tonalities with Yamane’s personal stylings. While a peculiar addition to the series, the latter is especially entertaining with its rhythmically compelling electronic beats.
Beyond the stage themes, Yamane continues doing what she does best in “Name Entry” 1:18 blending the influence of Baroque composers with a dark fantasy aesthetic, and also inspires a tear with her expressive woodwind writing on “A Small Prayer”. Less impressive are event themes such as blaring “Operation VT” or generic “Faraway Days”, though these tracks are still effective in the game and there is little real filler here. Yamane also references a few series’ favourites during the course of the soundtrack. “Iron Blue Intention” is a suitably punchy rendition of her most famous theme from her debut series score, Castlevania: Bloodlines, while “Bloodlines of Heaven and Earth” is a blistering rock rendition of the Dracula: Rondo of Blood anthem.
The most impressive contributions of the entire soundtrack are provided by Yuzo Koshiro, who was pleased to serve as a guest contributor having enjoyed the series since its inception. “Invitation of a Crazed Moon” continues the series’ tradition of having rocking first stage themes, but is somehow fresher and richer than its various predecessors, thanks to its slick synthesis and rhythmical idiosyncracies. “The Gears Go Awry” is also a tremendously catchy track, blending rocking melodies with harpsichord continuo. Among Koshiro’s other contributions, “Destroyer” and “Banquet of Madness” stand out against other boss themes, thanks to their more polished orchestration and explicit avant-garde influence. However, “Dance of Sadness” is more outwardly pleasing with its gushing romantic orchestration and piano-based interlude.
Note that each disc of this soundtrack release features identical music in two different versions. The first disc features the game’s music once it has been downgraded for the DS, while the second disc features the original versions of the music. Suikoden’s Norikazu Miura did an excellent job overcoming the technical limitations of the DS and often improves upon the originals in terms of balance. However, the sampling of the original versions is generally better and will be most people’s disc of choice. Note that the arrangements of “Simon’s Theme” closing each disc are distinct, one a fitting homage by Miura, the other a somewhat less impressive arrangement by Yamane. It’s therefore worth listening to both discs given the subtleties in their sampling and the exclusive arrangements.
The soundtrack for Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin is a fine way to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the series. Yamane’s music continues the stylistic tradition she established on Castlevania: Symphony of the Night with enjoyable new melodies and several classic reprises. However, Koshiro’s contributions are the most impressive of all with their rich construction and individual touches. As probably the best of the series’ portable scores, this soundtrack is highly recommended for fans of the Castlevania sound.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I praise the quality and work they both poured to make this soundtrack. But when it comes to personal tastes, specifically about Michiru Yamane's work, i still like Lament of Innocence better.
Can't wait for the remastered OST for the GBA games, those really deserved a better treatment, specially Harmony of Dissonance.
Invitation of a Crazed Moon just made me "oh fuck", man.
Unpopular opinion perhaps. But I think this game has the best OST on a castlevania game. I love most of these songs compared to other games. I even come back to hear them from time to time.
same here!
That's the sheer power of Michiru Yamane and fucking Yuzo Koshiro collaborating
I even dare to say it is the best one in therms of gameplay. Everything fits so well. Also the history is simple yet good.
@@MadsonOnTheWeb Also true.
Ehhhhh, SotN first and then this one. Pretty close tho
Pitch Black Intrusion 2021 god damn
BEST IRON BLUE INTENTION I'VE HEARD IT!
Banquet of Madness sounds sublime!
Boy am I glad I stumbled upon this. It's Showtime!

Lloré con el último toque que le hiciste a Dance of Sadness.
THX !
Holy shit, the way you closed out Dance of Sadness, brilliant. Also your rendition of Reincarnated Souls is fantastic, I was always surprised we never got that track in the actual game (would have been perfect to replace Invitation of a Crazed Moon if there actually was a John/Eric dual mode instead of Richter/Maria, perhaps if the game had more development time...). Excellent work!
There's something relaxing about the name entry theme ngl
Super me encantó . Saludos desde Cuba :)
Delicious. Thank you.
dude wtf this is perfect
Masterpiece
awesome
This is really great.
I even love the updated game cover.
My favourite of your remastered tracks was the hidden curse; Simply put, you nailed it, I loved it.
I was listening to this again and had one of those moments where I forgot how amazing a certain part of a song was and 15:49 blew my freakin socks off. I love this ost so much omg
Sir, you're talented.
18:28
i love your interpretation of Iron blue intention
this is fucking amazing
I love that you used the Akumajou Dracula XX guitar riff for Bloodlines Bequeathed!
Awesome, dude
몇개는 취향이 갈리지만 원곡보다 괜찮은 점도 있어 새롭게 듣는맛이 있음
great job
Good Work !!!!
dope
Dance of Sadness is argubly and probably my favorite track in the album, love that rearrange in the end )
Incredible work.
This music is like the “Painting of the soul!” Excellent work!
Silent Prison sounds just as beautiful as the original🥰 thank you so much for this!
Están brutales tus remixes bro, espero con ansias el del order
Pitch Black Intrusion 2021 is now my alarm clock. Now surely every day starts epic (or I get baited by a 3 man cult) Btw, thanks for remastering the Ds games :)
Someone who remastered the OST I was looking for, with timestamps AND download link included, plus working on OoE next? Take my subscription and my heartfelt blessings, thank you!
Good news, OoE is Out now!!! ruclips.net/video/QWSUccAvVEg/видео.html
Amazing work!
Those Reincarnated Souls remixes are soo cool, I was also blown away with the Pitch Black Intrusion 2021, great work!
Kojima-Jonathan is gorgeous!!
1:30:58 Eric Lecarde : Ah......Good Ol Times.
Sounds great!
Awesome.
It´s a masterpiece!!! i was looking for something like this :D :D :D
masterpiece
SECOND CASTLEVANIA GAMES
Crucifix held close fuckin' slays dude! Nice remixes, I love what you're doing with all these amazing classics!
Thank you so much for remastering what is essentially my childhood. I genuinely believe that no track here is worse than the original. It's all either as good as or leagues beyond what the DS could produce. I think your best ones here are The Gears Go Awry, Bloodlines Bequethed, Iron Blue Intention (my favourite version of the song now btw out of all versions and remixes, official or non-official yours takes the cake), and Reincarnated Souls. I can't wait to hear your magic on the GBA games!
the entire ost is awesome
Omg this sounds really good!!! Cant wait for order of ecclesia😍
Wtf bro, you're amazing. Finest piece of art right here
Please do Order Of Ecclesia
This is exquisite!👏👏👏
Bloodlines bequathed is amazing!!! True Power!!
One of my favorite OST. I think it's great to find this complete remastered OST of a not very popular game so many years after its release. I like a lot your version of "Small Prayer". You are awesomeness!
I love it! I keep coming back to listen to this. Right now on my way to work. And "name entry" is very relaxing for this morning
update: I'm still coming by :)
things have drastically improved since last time. Getting married on 1st of June. Name entry is still my absolute favorite. makes me think about the past now and how everything started and evolved. we're a couple since Nov 2021 and last year on June 18th, I proposed. so many things have happened within those 17months.
Magnificent
Phenomenal work! Love your stuff
This is absolutely fantastic!!!
I appreciate when in need of some awesome work bgm, it's there awaiting. Thanks for the great work and may you have a good life!
I am so glad I found this! Amazing work!
this is AMAZING!!!! keep up the good work
WOW!! So amazing!
They used Lydie Erlanger's portrait for Stella, and Tera the Nun's portrait for Loretta.
The team behind these artworks (A C:PoR Restoration Hack) have updated their designs with original portraits, so take this as outdated.
Congratulations, great remixes 👏🏼👏🏼
I loved this! They have a special feeling between them, you did an amazing job here ;w;
Simplemente brutal y excelentísimo trabajo.
Well you certainly made Chaotic Playground and Behind the Gaze sound better. Behind the Gaze especially made me feel uncomfortable playing. Dracula's Castle was like Princess Peach's Castle compared to those circus-themed hellscapes (only ones I like being Krazy Kremland and Witchyworld). I digress; I love this remastered OST.
Hearing reincarnated soul just made me annoyed that this sequel to Bloodlines featured everyone from Eric to Richter to Simon to Juste yet somehow it didn’t feature John Morris...
That aside, this is a really amazing album and my new go to for this soundtrack. Thanks a lot for making this!
I completely agree, that's precisely the main reason I have included that theme on this album. really glad you are enjoying it :D
@@DavSound KONAMI ITS ALIVE?
@@DavSound something about to POR REMASTERED IN NINTENDO SWITCH?
I honestly would've really liked a John and Eric mode instead of the Richter and Maria mode they had.
Well, you know, at least we got to play as his son XD
Adorei isso! Mano! Perfeito Akumajou sempre !!!
omg
The divine bloodlines beautifull combinacion

Buen trabajo con el OST! (Nice work with the OST!)
My favorites are Simon's theme, Invitation to a crazed moon, and Bloodlines Bequeathed (very cool the change in the second loop.)
Also, this is just an idea, but it would be cool a complete remastered version of the "Bloodlines" theme, with some parts of Rondo of Blood, Symphony of the night, Portrait of Ruin and ending with the final part of the "overture" theme from Rondo.
Anyways, your albums are really good!
I love it, thank you so much
❤️
Would it be possible to have an extended version for each track, please ? ^^
I have plans to do that once I'm finished with all six albums :)
@@DavSound this will be a mix of Gameplay
It is so nice that you have made a remastered version of this game's soundtrack, too, DavSound. I do not consider it as strong as the other two NDS Castlevania games', but this version is a clear improvement over the original, both in sound quality and instrumentation. So, once again, nice work!
Now I wait eagerly how the third one sounds, since you seem to have made that, too.
Compare to your other albums, this one has a large filesize, each songs would boast 20MB+ I wonder...
Phenomenal work, It's great to see these songs getting remastered, thank you!
I noticed the same, I will check if this has something to do with the bitrate settings in my music software, so I can make an update. Thanks for the heads up!
This is REALLY good, I’ve been playing through the GBA and DS entries over the past year so hearing your renditions is super fun! I do have one critique, I think that Piercing Silence feels a bit too fast with the snare being on every beat.
Una verdadera obra de arte este remaster sensei.
Gracias!! :D
i love you so much
I realy love it ! badly for me, i can't download it because it's to big and PC Crash when i try to... i'm so sad.
I will fix this issue soon, it's because the cover thumbnails are bigger than they should be, sorry for that!
@@DavSound Realy thank you ! i'm realy fan of yours arrangments !

if kojima ayami had been in charge of the charactor draw POR would be the best castlevania but the truth is that some otaku drew those charactor instead of kojima ayami
Remember how Rondo of Blood was also anime? I do. Conveniently forgot about that, eh?
narrow minded westoid
Brilliant work! I guess you just should mention the original composer
Done! forgot that, the original composers were already included in the music files metadata that I provided in the link found in the description :D
toss that salad
This game is my first ever castlevania game! I love the series after that.❤
a great rendition of the Soundtrack as with the rest of your work , can i ask ? could you split the tracks on a playlist later on ? i'd love to see one for each NDS Title ! 🧛🌙
I'll do this since YT removed the chapter timestamp feature :D
@@DavSound Thank you lmao what the fuck , why the hell would they remove this , the longer it goes the dumber they get , and again really appreciating your work

It's incredible. Do you have any intention of doing "Into the dark night" from dawn of sorrow?

Hey!
I am thinking of remastering the Castlevania games on PC, what do you say, can you do the music?
A remastering sounds epic, if you do the project let me know and if I have to pay to play it, no problem
@@angelzxa2023 i am going to build a standard lightweight engine in OpenGL with multiplayer support and a higher resolution. I first need to make a prototype with the old graphic, when it works I'll try to get people to help me upscale and enhance. Like the AM2R
@@5P3C73R
It is an epic project, I tried several times to remaster any Castlevania but I just couldn't, if you need my help I will gladly give it to you, I can do Sprites, pixel art animations (like when the character attacks) And other things, or when you finish the project let me know, I've always wanted to play castlevania Portrait of ruin remastered
@@angelzxa2023 i suck at art, I can handle the engine. I want a proper castlevania with either xinput or multiplayer support . I don't want to make a half-assed attempt, but a proper one. Once i have started the project, I'll peovide links. I want to start with the x68000 or super castlevania as their engine seem simple enough, no rpg elements there
Count me in! ;D
can you remaster call of duty 4 ds?
