  • Get ready for an epic journey, folks! The Wind Ridge hike in Bow Valley Wildland Provincial Park, Alberta, offers an adventure-packed experience that promises to be both a bit challenging and deeply rewarding.
Starting from the Three Sister Parkway Day use, you'll ascend through a lush forest, which gradually opens up to reveal spectacular views. The trail is fairly steep and demanding, and as you climb higher, the breathtaking scenery of the surrounding peaks-Windtower, Lougheed, and the Three Sisters-comes into view.
About 1 km below the summit, you encounter the scramble section. This part of the trail is not recommended with a dog (unless you can assist it) and requires some hands-on climbing. However, if scrambling isn't your thing, and if you dog is joining you, there's a way to bypass it by taking a less direct but safer path around the roughest sections. Just stick to the worn path on your right to avoid the scramble and reach the summit without the extra adrenaline rush.
Once you conquer the ridge, you have the option to venture further along it, treating yourself to a spectacular panorama of the stunning Canadian Rockies. From here, Wind Ridge offers unparalleled views of the valleys below and the majestic peaks that surround you, creating the perfect backdrop for unforgettable photos.
This hike is suitable for seasoned hikers with a good level of fitness, and while it can be challenging for some, it’s totally doable with a furry companion. My dog Maverick joined me on this adventure and handled it like a champ. So, pack your water, snacks, and camera, and don't forget to hit 'subscribe' to catch all the action. This is a must-watch for anyone craving adventure in the great outdoors! 🌄🐾
