Is the $800 pistol optic as good as they say?

I had the pleasure of shooting the SIG SAUER Romeo M17 and the Sig M17X with dots mounted. I enjoyed that so much I kitted out a replica of the gun. It's an amazing red dot sight - but it also costs $800 on a proprietary cut.
