"Three young actors". Harrison Ford was almost 35 at the time. Everybody seems to think that he was like 20, since footage of the 20 year old Harrison is so rare... still people wouldn't talk about their mid 30s when they say "when I was young..."
Harriosn Ford speaks of anonymity in 1977. He is still that way today and chooses to stay out of the limelight of Hollywood. He rarely does an interview now. Very good actor. I you'd like to see some early work of Mr. Ford, he played a hippie, in a film called Luv (1977) with Jack Lemon. He punches Jack Lemon in the nose after a small fender bender.
+brian whalen i think 35 counts as young and thats coming from a 54 year-old... look at him...his whole career was still ahead of course hes a young man. not a kid but a young man.
Not a perm, but epic! We were used to seeing this guy. And the hair was a style from the 60's, 70's - 'fro. It is coming back. Ethnic people following the Afro with the Jewish 'fro, the Latin 'fro, and so on. Check out the movie Hair. Great soundtrack and clips on You Tube. Remember Art Garfunkel when his hair was long? And the kid on Welcome Back Kotter where Travolta started out?
Mark Hamill had facial reconstruction after a car wreck before the filming of The Empire Strikes Back.. It may have sidelined his career. Fantastic voice actor, I have a lot of respect for him.
"Harrison Ford, the only movie star named for two presidents!" Which is why he WAS President in a nice film called Air Force One. Gene Shalit, when you pick em, you pick em!
The onscreen chemistry between the original characters and especially these 3 was the secret sauce for the trilogy and once they were gone the sequels NEVER regained the magic of the early episodes. Harrison and Carrie were also living together and the whole main cast were then and thorough out their later lives great friends. I remember everybody thought Mark would be the breakout star but Ford was the surprise Darkhorse that became a MEGA-STAR.
It seems that Mark and Carrie earned a lot of money so they didn’t bother going for auditions or pursuing new movies to be in as that is such a mental process. Carrie died with $50 million value.
I wish Gene would have let Carrie and Mark say something as well. I don't know if they edited the Interview. I am not a Spring Chicken any more so I remember Gene Shalit hosting the Today Show when I was young. They also had the former Baseball Player Joe Gargiola- who was Bald. I think Gene Shalit did Film and Entertainment interviews. Now, all the Morning Hosts have to be Pretty Boys or Pretty Girls.
This clip is highly edited. There were answers from Carrie and Mark. You can see the whole interview somewhere on RUclips I think. The title is just clickbait “Harrison Ford’s first tv interview.”
@@RyderDavis I love how these millennials always say, "the interviewer," when it's some legend. I saw that on a different video where "the interviewer" was Johnny Carson.

Say this was good interview but it's chopped up horrible.. I wonder what happened to tht Star Wars picture in the background I'd say it be worth bout €60g now
At the very beginning of the video, "It is not unusual to meet a 9 or 10-year old kid who has seen it 5 or 6 times." Why does everyone today disagree with me when I tell them Star Wars has always been targeted at kids? It's the same people who don't like the new Star Wars stuff because it's not "adult-oriented" enough. Newsflash, Star Wars has NEVER been geared towards adults. It has always been for kids. Btw, in 1977 I was one of those 10-year old kids who saw it at least 5 or 6 times. I remember admission for kids 12 and under was $1.

Harrison Ford is so smooth. It's hard to imagine that was a bit of dork in high school who was bullied, and picked on day-to-day. Inspirational guy.

They were probably jealous.
He was? I didn't know that aobut him. I thought he would have been a Tough Ladies Man even in High School.
@@HoldenNY22I never took him as a ladies man but as a man who ladies want to be with.

Way to spoil the movie, there! Still a fun interview.
Harrison was so hot !!!

Amazing to see them at the beginning unaware of the impact Star Wars would have on their lives.
Mark Hamill was so handsome! He’s very cute. And Harrison was amazing at his prime. Especially that deep voice! 😍
Mark Hamill looks gorgeous and so does Harrison!

Is Carrie flirting with Harrison at 1:33 ?
They had already had an affair at that point, according to Fisher.
