- This single was released in 1985, in-between Thomas Dolby's "The Flat Earth" and "Aliens Ate My Buick" albums. The 7" in Japan featured the first two tracks in this video (London Version- short and Tokyo Version- short). The 12" in the UK included the London Version- long, and the B-side track "Exhibition" (a 15-minute instrumental solo track not featuring Thomas). The long version of the Tokyo Mix was only released in Japan on 12", and later on a compilation of EP remixes by Sakamoto called "Steppin' Into Asia". Here, I've compiled all four versions of "Field Work", the 7" is lovingly ripped from a mint, previously un-played specimen direct from unsold store stock in Japan. The 12" versions were taken from the CD EP mentioned above.

A complete FAVOURITE of mine. For me Dolby's and Sakamoto's most perfect track. All versions are just incredible *
All 4 versions are available! I wanted to hear it. Each remix has a different unique taste. Thank you.
Sakamoto is a genius, and Dolby a perfect match for cross cultural music..
Though I am writing from Miami, I thank you for your post and detailed description from Ostia Lido (Rome), where I grew up to this song on local radio. I still have my home in Ostia. This was everyday radio at Radio Dimensione Suono, throughout the city of Rome. It's amazing, radio declined as it became less local.
Excellent job bringing us great audio of these hard-to-find versions. Thanks!
Truly Unique … Mr. Dolby is an Outstanding Artist.
Many Thanks Mr. Sakamoto…
