- Fox Sports' Joel Klatt joined the show to talk all things college football:
- where does Texas rank in the new SEC landscape?
- which teams are capable of winning the national championship?
- Klatt's conversations with CFB coaches - which one surprised him the most?
- the TV network draft process
- where does Alabama fit in in the Crimson Tide's first season under Kalen DeBoer?
- and more!

These Texas captions being #1 in the “new” SEC is totally laughable- good lord
Didn't texas beat sec championship last year?
What gives texas fans all this hope and giddiness coming into this season after watching what they did last year?
By "watching what they did last year" mean go to the CFB Playoffs and have two shots in the endzone at the end of the game to play in the Championship? I would think that plus this years roster has quite a lot to do with it.
College football isn't just a sport; it's a narrative of rivalries, strategies, and the pursuit of national glory that keeps fans and analysts alike on the edge of their seats.
agreed. Live and breath football
@@wizarddragon Thank you
Horns down😅
All these Texas on top takes will have a short shelf life. The grind is real but you have to experience once to find out.
11:44 This applies to our current Govt! Feeding us a line knowing the masses are too busy paying the bills to think for themselves.
That was Baylor that went in to Norman and blew out Oklahoma 48 to 14. That was the height of the Art Briles era and Bob Stoops' biggest home loss.
Edit: Actually, Joel did the 41 to 12 game in Waco the year before that one.
That's old news. Bob Stoops has championships.
@@ROUGHNECK75 Jeez, you are sensitive.
Idk why media members act as if Texas doesn’t have questions along the Defensive line and in the secondary. There have been serious losses in the draft along the DL and in the defensive coaching staff. The secondary has proven to be vulnerable.
Texas has also not yet proven that they can “reload” the same way other elite teams have. One 12-2 season in the big 12 and everyone is acting like they are a new titan of the sport.
Deboer is 2-0 playing Sark at Texas and he’s won his games with lesser talent. Now he has equal or more talent. Same with Lanning and Oregon. Idk how you don’t at least put Deboer at Bama in the same tier.
FTR, Texas couldn't even dominate the Big 12 on the field consistently. Good luck taking over the SEC any time soon.
Thank GOD somebody besides me hears this bullshit
Texas is gonna run through your weak schools 😂
Washington was actually more talented than Texas. Better QB, wrs and secondary than Texas. But Texas is pretty good still better than people think. Most people are just UT haters tbh. Media has it right imo
First. How many people did UW get drafted in April? Sure, you dont know because you're talking about lesser talent. Two. Yeah, they lost some talent up front, but who hasn't lost talent? Bama lost both corners and one of the best safeties in college transferred. So there's that too.
Texas' secondary gave up yards yes, you know why? Of course you don't. No one could run on Texas last year; teams gave up running after the first quarter. There was no moving the ball except by doing what kids?? Passing the ball. I don't like calling people casuals, but your opinion is that of someone who either didn't see Texas play last year or you're just contrary because you think that's what you're supposed to do. Deboer had a top 12 QB in the draft and 3 WR get drafted. They threw the ball on everybody except for the National Champion. I know what you're trying to say but, you missed on that one.
Texas is loaded this year and will be excellent barring major injury. Not saying they’re better than GA or any of the other top teams, but they’re in the same tier. May the best team win.
I love the story about Bob Stoops. Also I don't believe it would have been 2008. Maybe 2009? Because Oklahoma beat the piss outta Texas Tech in 2008. Texas Tech was like #2 in the country. Texas Tech beat top ranked Texas and was a pretty good team that year. OU vs TX tech 2008 was one of the loudest home games I've heard. Haven't heard a Norman crowd that loud since.
Ohh because Joel Klatt is never wrong lmao
Joel Klatt is wrong more often than not.
Not sure how the new Bama assistants aren't a huge question mark and why everyone ignores it, including Klatt. A bunch of Hoosier retreads.
Bama fan. Texas will be damn good. I think they'll be even more explosive on offense and wins 10 or 11 games.
Georgia is the new Bama. Georgia and Ohio State will play for the natty
The are #3, 4 or maybe 5 if they have a great year
They cant lose ewers and coast for 3 weeks in the sec. But they do have a favorable schedule and good players. 8-10 wins i say. Lose a couple they should, then some they “shouldn’t”.
Go back to the start of the BIG12 Texas has finished in the top 10
how many times
Won the BIG12 how many times
Beat OKLAHOMA how many times
Beat Okie State how many times
TEXAS IS NOT THAT GOOD
Other than beat Alabama in Milroe’s 2nd start. What has Texas done?
Lost to OU. Lost to Washington, again.
Miracle needed against K State and Houston.
Struggled with TCU.
Just say you don’t know ball and move on
Just answer the question. What have Texas done in 50 years? Beat Alabama and beat usc.
That’s their two biggest accomplishments in 50 years.
I am sorry texas. You can't explain the grind of the sec until you experince it. You will be awoken.
Texas floor is 9-3 ceiling is 12-0.
As a realistic Texas fan im betting on 10-2 and playoff birth. Hosting a game in DKR in first round.
Pretty good assessment from a Texas fan and fair.
I actually want to say you guys go 11-1 but Texas does have recent history of losing at minimum one game during regular season they had no business losing.
You guys do get a relatively cake sec schedule this season unlike OU theirs is brutal (probably4-5 losses) and you do kinda have the luxury of being a “coming together” program while many are trying to find their feet, IE Florida, LSU, SC and ole miss. Even Bama has a lot of questions that have to come together to find success.
TN is probably one of the biggest benefactors from this new conference setup, they no longer have to vie for the east from UGA and they are right on the cusp of breakout.
Good luck to you fellas this season and welcome to the SEC! Go Dawgs!!!
Sec fans don't wanna hear that Joel 😂 #hookem
I predict this will age well, thanks Joel, 🤣 specifically Tx in the NC game.
They win 8 maybe 9 games and finish 3rd or 4th.
Yeah I agree they do talk about Caleb downs like he was Jesus definitely was not, Alabama had not one but two touchdowns called back legitimate call backs or not can be argued but that game is a loss if they were to stay but the scores were thrown out so whatever but don’t act like they came off n there and dominated and ignore the reason they won. They would not have beaten that later Alabama team.
Texas may have the easiest schedule of any SEC team. Texas may have the hardest schedule in program history. Let it play out.
OU>tx
OU will have a better defense and the offenses will break even. Tx’s DL won’t be better than last season. They are overhyped yet again
🤣
Well one thing's for sure, people have a stick up their ass for Texas. You have to understand, for years the media has propped Texas up, and pushed "Texas is back" only to be let down and made fun of by Texas ultimately failing. For the first time in a long time, Texas finally did what it was supposed to do (the bare minimum) and made the media look smart. Texas schedule looks easy, but I'd actually be worried about the second half of it after Georgia. The first half will be exciting, but that second half is filled with trap games every week, and that is a dangerous problem for Texas.
@@zophix-5741 Oklahoma consistently gets downplayed by the media around this time of the year while they are quietly recruiting and building up. I have not heard much from Texas about their defensive recruiting, but I have heard much from Oklahoma regarding their offense and defense recruiting. People in the media prop up Texas as a sleeping giant that will awake from its slumber and torch the conference, but here's the question, who dominated the Big 12 most years? The answer is Oklahoma.
The Sooners are a blue-blood program with competent leadership at the helm going into their inaugural season in the SEC. I don't think Oklahoma will be a world-beater right out of the gate. The only reason Texas got the better of Alabama last year was because Alabama got plagued with penalties, which cost them yards on crucial drives to win. Yet, Texas lost to Oklahoma, which had a defense. It was not a great but a decent one, but it has gotten more profound, if not better, this offseason. Texas sure has a world-beater in offense; guess what? Oklahoma had that under Lincoln Riley; look what happened there.
The media is all over Texas as a contender for the SEC champ and in the national title conversation. Yet, they must address the elephant in the room when offensive-minded teams win a national title over teams with great defenses. Case in point, Michigan played Washington in the Natty game, and who won?
A good texas team generates tons of cash and everyone hypes them up. The defense will not be as good, their QB is a system QB. They lost more than most teams. Yeah they have a good year recruiting and portal depth but unproven. Sec better join in sooner land in its hate for Texas or they will irritate the hell out of you. Boomer!
A Texas team that has gone 28-17 vs Big 12 teams in the last 5 seasons is coming into the SEC and expected to be one of the best teams? I think Texas is good and has a pretty easy schedule but the SEC grind is real and we have a lot of Data to prove its real. The only teams that have been consistent at surviving the grind lately are Alabama and Georgia. Texas might be good but they are not at that level yet. 2 10 win seasons in the last 14 years. last year was their first 10 win season in the last 6 years. Georgia and Alabama earned their hype.
They beat every Big XII team last year (besides OU, which is now SEC as we all know) including blowing out Texas Tech by 50 and beating OK State by 4 touchdowns. Combine that with the Bama victory last year, nearly beating Washington to make it to the Title Game last year, and a reloaded roster this year - yes, there's a reason why Klatt and so many other analysts think Texas will be really good this year.
Wake up and stop living far in the past.
New coaching staff has only been around for three seasons.
Sark has been there 3 years stop bringing up old stuff. Sark has these guys ready to play and recruited trenches extremely well. Returning all OL and 3rd year starting QB. We aren’t being arrogant, we literally have a good chance this year
@@chrishaywood good luck then. live and learn i suppose
@@wizarddragon truth is, you're upset because you are an Ole Miss fan
They had a parade celebrating joining the SEC 😂
He's always so disrespectful towards Alabama.
Its also funny he talks about no spreading propaganda but I just remember when he was calling that Bama-Texas game a couple of years and Dallas Turner had that sack that injured Ewers he was one of the first on the brodcast to say that wasnt a dirty hit and shouldnt even be a penalty and then when they came back from commercial break he had completely changed his tune on it as if Fox told him he needed to side with Texas since they cover the Big 12. This guy has always spread Big 12 and Big 10 propaganda. I dread having to listen to him when Bama plays Wisconsin this year.
Hook em 🤘🏽
Texas is 5th at best in the sec
🤣🤡
@Mark-zx2bq texas is not better than alabama, georgia, lsu, or ole miss this season. Sorry, facts.
@@zugetsui9971 yawn. Surely you can do better than what you have shown thus far

Texas bout to get a rude ass awakening
Just like they got from Bama huh?
@@dezgarrett2790that one win defined their whole existence huh? They did get the W but there were Qb issues they were going through early . Texas lost to WASHINGTON later in the season while bama was beating Georgia do you think Texas was beating that later bama team?
@wanrogers6249 Does the Washington loss define their whole season? Can't have it both ways. Yeah I think they do...QB issues didn't lose them that game...Texas did what they wanted on offense. Lit up their 2 drafted CBs and Caleb Downs was picked on...last I checked people are talkng like he's the best safety since Sean Taylor.
Nebraska left the big 12 as a blue blood & no one knows who Nebraska is today. Texas & OU no longer have to compete against two teams a year. Texas is better than OU & has an easier schedule. I pick Texas to have a better year..
Klatt is FOS on this.
How?
Pipe down doomers the adults are talking
Half Century? Texas has been ehh overall last 20 seasons
20 seasons ago we beat Michigan at the rose bowl, a year later we won the natty
Played in National Championship 14 seasons ago. Finished 3rd in the country 15 seasons ago.
I’m not saying they haven’t been a good football team just the way he says it makes them sound like Alabama for the last 20 and they haven’t they’ve been middle of the road for the last 14 with several rough years in there UT didn’t compete for even the Big 12 title. They historically are a great team, last decade and half not a great program.
@@BbEeAaRst played in B12 Championship in 2018, and were B12 & SEC Champion last season.
@@BbEeAaRst By the way, Texas has regularly been in the running for playing in the Championship/playoff for half of the 21st century; even had the 2nd most wins in the country, behind only Florida, in the 2000's.
Texas had one good year in the past 15 years in the Big12, and they think they can compete in the SEC???
Yes
Played in B12C in 2018, National Championship 14 seasons ago, and finished 3rd in the country 15 seasons ago. Fixed it for you
@@Mark-zx2bq No one was scared of Texas except for last year. Will be a lower third tier team in the SEC. Fixed it for you.
Love all this hate on Texas!!! 😂 Yall all gonna get a rude awakening when u see Texas moving the line of scrimmage on every play! This isn’t the same o Texas of old! Good luck to the haters🤘🤘
“OU could be a really good team but they have a tough schedule”. What does that have to do with how good they are?
If Texas is the “class of the conference” then so is OU. They beat them last year at a neutral site. They’re just as good if not better.
Quit it with this Texas bias.
Nope. Kirby stomp coming
I think Missouri will give Texas a real game. Texas is a huge brand. But, can the "much over hyped" Arch Manning lead texas to the promise land.? No way. LSU has a better QB room than Texas. But Georgia is loaded across the board more so than any school in the SEC.
Texas will get a huge awakening this year. The SEC ain't the Southwestern, or whatever conference it's called now. The competition will ramp upexponentially this season. Wait till they have to play BAMA. In the past OU was their biggest rival .. 😂
you do know that Ewers is the starting QB at Texas not Arch. The rest of your thoughts are nullified
Mizzou vs Texas is not on the schedule this year or next
Tx has a very good record vs Bama.
They played Alabama last year 😂
Missouri was 8-5 their first year in the SEC
Yeah - the beat Georgia & got to the SEC Championship game in their 2nd year, too!
They're 1-12 vs Georgia since and haven't been back in over a decade. You guys gotta chill with the participation trophies😂
Klatt has never given alabama the benefit of the doubt no matter how good we were. I like him , but he has a severe blind spot when it comes to alabama. Nobody talks about thw fact Nobody and I mean Nobody knows wjat to expect from the offense. There is no preparation. If we can beat wisconsin without having to dive too deep into the magic bag, Georgia may be at a severe disadvantage just because they have nothing to prepare with.
These guys are talking for clicks. SEC welcomes Texas & OU. You’ll no longer have a two game season. If you win enough, welcome to the SEC.
top 5 possibly..... definitely not the top.
Texas won't even play for sec title. So overhyped year in year out. Look out sec. Get ready for the texas hypetrain every year.
It's so funny seeing longhorns fans making delusional predictions! 😂 texas is back! 😂😂😂 Michigan, UTSA, Florida, Kentucky, A&M, Oklahoma, and Arkansas will all beat ut this season. Win the conference?! Come on now.
Texas will win 10-12 games, and get to ATL . Depending on who they play they can win the sec
Lol
10 games maybe if things go right. Texas got one of the easier schedules so they have that going for them.
Oh hell...why play the schedule
I mean it's fine until they have to play Michigan, Georgia and Oklahoma which combined could put them at only a 9 win season. I agree with you but the easy season thing isn't totally true@@wizarddragon
Nope you are wrong
I love Joel klatt but man he goin to eat his words with Texas ! Texas will choke this year! Last year was a fluke ..they. Won 3 games by 3 or less an were lucky ..they played 3 teams with same
Or close to same talent level…bama, OU, Washington an they lost 2-3 of those games ! Sark is not a good coach ..Ou defense is for real an have best WR crew in sec ….they will beat Texas by 10 or more this year !! Remember this !
OU will beat Texas again in the Cotton Bowl. Texas won 4 Big 12 titles and OU 14 in football. Please keep building Texas up. Texas goes 8-4 this season in the SEC.
Lol you still hurt that TX flexing more than OU? I thought BV was better than Lincoln, but you failed to make the big 12 championship two years in a row...and yall lost kansas this last season 😅. I thought OU didn't lose to ks.
Tx has a joke schedule aside from Michigan & Georgia. If they go less than 10-2 it will be a bad season due to weakness of schedule. OU goes 7-5.
Aside from the national champion and former back to back national champion okay budy Lolol
Texas usually disappoints in the spotlight.
If Texas goes 8-4 with that schedule, what does OU go with their schedule?? Once again worried about the wrong thing. You should be worried about winning 8 games.
Alabama>Georgia and Texas
34-24
