UPSC CSE 2023 results have exposed a paradox. The majority of top 100 rankers scored between 100 - 120 marks in Essay. On the other hand, many rankers have their Essay scores in the 80s and 90s. It's a radical shift in UPSC’s marking scheme from a couple of years ago when 150+ score in Essay appeared easy.
Similar to CSAT in Prelims, Essay paper plays a pivotal role in making or breaking your chances at UPSC Mains and securing a higher rank.
9 rankers including AIR 2 Animesh Pradhan (133 marks) from Dominate Essay Program have cleared UPSC CSE 2023. It is India’s highest from any single course. Admissions for Dominate Essay 2024 are open.

Sir , What could be the cutoff for 2024 prelims? I get 91.33 in GS and 82.5 in CSAT and OBC? Will I clear the prelims 😢?

Please don't panic. We have predicted the cut off range to be 88 to 92. Adjust for your category accordingly. Your score appears to be on the edge, but you have good chance of clearing Prelims. Please start preparing for Mains without wasting any time.
