Fun fact: A local guitar maker in the Philippines manufactured those guitars and basses specifically for them as signature instruments. That demonstrates how important this band is to us Filipinos.
Finally!!! It's about time that international reactors react to TypeCast. Hopefully we go with Urbandub and Franco next. These bands are legends in the PH.
Typecast was the frontliner of the emo and post-hardcore genre movement in the Philippines when the said rock subgenres became popular here in 2007, along with Chicosci (away from their nu-metal phase). Frontman Steve Badiola's singing voice is heavily influenced by Dashboard Confessional's Chris Carrabba.
No no. It started way earlier than 2007. Chicosci gained notoriety starting 2002 when they won Song of the Year (NU Rock Awards). Typecast also won the same award but in 2007 or 2006 and both bands were already mainstream by 2007. The emo/punk pop genre was already booming before 2007 as I recall local radios replaying songs over and over again early 2000s.

I am so proud of Typecast. They're from my city of Laguna. Specifically Pacita, in the Philippines. I was able to see them in a small studio, through a window, when I was in High School. When we recorded something for my High School Project.
Pacita ba sila? From what I know is they're from Sta Rosa, Laguna. My high school was there and we used to see them a lot on this studio we were practicing from
Yep, Typecast is one of the reknowned Rock Bands in Asia. Thanks for reacting to their Boston Drama live set at Wishbus! By the way, they changed their Drummer like almost a decade ago iirc due to the OG one from their Boston Drama MV had domestic/ battery issues with his wife.
typecast ! such great memories when having wifi at home is not yet the thing so i spend my free time in net cafes, watching this and rip? downloaded this song to my samsung mp3 player the usb stick type... 😅
I remember way back 2006 when I was in highschool, we used to play pop-rock. This one flies me wayback. How I wish I could go back in time and be a teenager again. I waste too much of my time and not enjoyed life. 🤷🤦😣😕
Been watching your contents for more than a years now Waleska and all of your reactions are amazing, fun cute and damn you just look so beautiful 💯❤️🇵🇭 I hope you'd also react to a new artist "December Avenue's Saksi ang Langit Official Music Video" will wait for your take on it. 😘😌 Maganda ka sobra! 🤭
i feel the one ok rock vibe here... pinoy ako pero first time ko sila marinig... not sure tho... maybe heard them before di ko lang alam na sila pala yun. i guess i've been missing a lot haha... need to check more of their stuff now
Can you please, please listen to Tom’s Story and Tide/Edit. They are mathrock bands. Maybe a podcast on mathrock across other countries will be nice too. I love Tom’s Story’s Mugatu (you can listen to the live one at Stage Sessions). I hope they make another album.
my teenage emo heart just got triggered! just a small piece of info. Sep Rono is their drummer since 2015. Efra said "Look how high he is holding the stick" while watching their music video, that's their original drummer, Melvin Macatiag. got the chance to talk to him when they performed back, and the reason why Melvin holds that stick so high, is because he is inspired by Dave Grohl, famous for being the drummer of Nirvana, and frontman for Foo Fighters.
I think Efra will like Will You Ever Learn by Typecast as it is more mellow, I think, I’m not really good at describing music. They don’t have wish for that though, just the old myx one. That’s nostalgic! Edit: I checked the myx live performance and they are using the traditional drums (sorry again for the term, but you get what I mean, hopefully!) so that’ll be better, I think! Hope you guys give it a listen.
Actually they made some adjustments and harmonics with this one unlike to the original one. Original one of Boston drama isn't sound like this one, but I like this one more
