River North Ride | Navy Pier To Merchandise Mart [4K]

Nov 13, 2021 - I cycled from the east end of Navy Pier, through Streeterville and River North, to Merchandise Mart on a cold and rainy fall day. The majority of the ride is on Grand Avenue, which has a pretty subpar on-street bike lane. Considering Navy Pier is an important tourist destination for families, it's disappointing the bike infrastructure leading to it is not safer and more comfortable to ride on. I can't see many families using it to get to Navy Pier. Despite the issues, this is a scenic ride ride with great views of the skyline and River North. I ended the ride at Merchandise Mart, a massive monolith of a building that sits on the north side of the Chicago River.
