Skewness quantifies how symmetrical the distribution is. Symmetrical distribution has a skewness of zero. I am astonished how RUclipsrs make it so difficult to explain when you had just explained in the simplest terms. Very easy to grasp the content. Undoubtedly you seem to be highly qualified, ample knowledgeable and experienced.
Thanks for making things simple as a working professional it is difficult to grasp the concept of Data Science. This video gave me a clear understanding to me.
My question is.. why is the curve always in such a shape (that is starts from bottom and ascends and reach top and then descends to reach the bottom)? Why cant it be a slanting one (either a positively slanting or negatively slanting)?
thank you for the explanations. The visual of a mouse's tail helps too. If the tail is on the negative side, it is negatively skewed; if the tail is on the positive side, it is positively skewed. Right?

Thank you so much for your great explanation. I have got a question to ask. Could you please tell me what is the statistical difference between Skewness and the medcouple? We use medcouple in adjusted boxplots to know how far is our dataset is deviated from being symmetric which is almost the same concept like Skewness but the value of medcouple and skewness is totally different.

What if there are breaks in the graph... If there are two unequal peaks? I can't make it out for my assignment as the graph does not seem to be properly skewed to one side
In that case, are you saying that we should not analyze skewing datasets? Should we change those positive/negative skew before taking insights from it?
Okay, I had to check out this video to confirm that someone else hadn't gotten it wrong. I would have always claimed that the "positively skewed" data skewed to the LEFT, not the right. This is for a couple reasons. 1. If you were to take the normal distribution image and use the skew tool in photoshop and dragged the top to the left, then it would look mostly like the positively skewed image. 2. Most of the data points are on the left half of the image, therefore, 3. the average is skewed to the left of the middle of the image. I don't understand this naming scheme.
Skewness quantifies how symmetrical the distribution is. Symmetrical distribution has a skewness of zero. Also, the skewness is unitless.

Thanks for making things simple as a working professional it is difficult to grasp the concept of Data Science. This video gave me a clear understanding to me.
Thanks. The explanation is simplified. Also.
I’m a visual learner so this helps me prepare for my Stat’s class. Well done!
Learnt in 3 minutes what I didn't understand in 2hours. Thank you
Salute mam, I'm a student from a Bangladeshi student, somehow i was abesent to my class finally i understand skew.
Very Crisp and Clear explanation!!!!!!
Do you have video for Kurtosis as well?
Not yet. Will let you know when we upload it :)
Thank you very much as per my textbook I knew there had to be a more significant meaning as to why it was called right skewed.

When you mentioned central value, does that mean mean value of maximum and minimum? Or do you indicate mean value of observations?
Very Good Presentation

If the tail is towards left, it's negatively skewed - you still want us to remember. :D
How did I miss this channel 😭
