Comments by atheists are of no import here: Faith in Christ is a gift of God, and we invite all unbelievers to ask for this gift before the end of their days... In other words, as soon as possible - this minute!
Yes 😊😻 Mother Irene 👋, I have been visiting the site/by video. What powerful words/ I am " The Way, The Truth and I am on my knees, giving thanks to God 🙏
Dear Ma'am I appreciate you're vids , and thank you for the time you put into them . Because of a medical condition , it is hard for me to get out at times . You're vids bring me the truth of our Holy Faith , and our Holy Mother Church .
If you love our Divine Liturgy, you are already on the way to being part of the Holy Church..come and be baptized..leave behind the legalisms of papal philosophies and live in His Bride, the Holy Church. pray to find holy priests here..and holy bishops, and the Spirit of Truth will lead you!
Exactly! The introductory music to this video (with the violins' reverberation) brought immediately the Sound of Music Ouverture to my mind. Music is the spark of heavenly language indeed. Thanks again for your good programmes.
You may write St Vlad's seminary - Dr Drillock gave permission for me to use this from their cd from 25 years or so back of the Divine Liturgy. Very special singers! Amen! Irene
And Sound of Music's "Climb every Mountain" launched me out of the RC convent with its heartfelt faith that God would guide. He certainly did! Music speaks deeply to the soul and lifts the heart if we allow it - into the presence of God in Christ!
Divine Liturgy is the expression of the Holy Faith: if you love the worship you love our Ancient Faith! Come in- the baptismal waters are warm and waiting!
You so right about the hurried, self driven life that we need to halt. I know that trials stop us in our tracks and give us a chance to reflect. God gave us a sound mind to know the truth! Thank you for helping me see why I have been drawn to Orthodoxy. I thought it was emotions but it is not.
Orthodox Christianity is based on solid evidence of eyewitnesses to the Life and Resurrection of Christ the Lord! Philosophies are man's attempt at "figuring out" who God is. Christianity is based on God's revelation of Himself to Mankind through and in the Person of Jesus Christ! He is the Truth: both objective and subjective. Keep it in the heart, friend, and out of the boggled mind that is Satan's playground.
Thank you. And I really like the music: it is not Protestant, but a classical heritage one. Being Orthodox should not be a limitation. There is only one truth, and once something is true and beautiful it belongs to Christ.
We carefully review the words of any non-Orthodox Hymn: many themes are simply legalism and "once saved always saved" messages. This was chosen to feel "familiar" to those we're reaching out to in the other faiths that have Scriptural backgrounds.
I accidentally removed Kelly's comment: Having been both a "lady jesuit" and a grad of protestant seminary, I know very deeply that these dear people are under the illusion that they "are saved" by the church or one prayer. The RC has perverted Christianity, where to begin: Augustine's pagan idea that humans are depravd, original guilt, "pie in the sky" heaven and not Paradise now in the Holy Spirit - all against Christ! We've seen souls destroyed by these false teachings personally! Tragedy!
Responding to Daniel: Orthodox Christian Laity must confirm the councils' decisions unlike Charlemagne church (RC). The Holy Spirit speaks with One Voice - and He is the Head and Vicar of the Church, In a word: Yes all Orthodox follow the Councils freely as the Holy Spirit directs through our conscience and the pastor-Bishop. We pray for good and wise Bishops in the US, since we have so few true monasteries (those filled with the Holy Spirit) for our Bishops. God grant many years to those precious Metropolitans who "rightly divide the Word of His Truth"!! Glory to God in His saints!
Thank God for your faithfulness to the Holy Faith; have you seen our "Thunder at Dawn" video - now on a Serbian site about the bombing of Belgrade? We could not be silent about this sin against innocents!
Hello Please pray for me and my mother Silvia Skrabl that the Holy Spirit will reavel to us the false doctrines we have believed and for Spirutal Protection.
Thanx khouria Irene for responding to my comment. I dont know how to email you back. Greetings from St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church, New Hartford NY. Christos Anesti!
Hello sister.I'm in Serbian Orthodox Church and i want to ask you one question. Why on the Orthodox sermons at the end of the liturgy is not preaching to the people Second Coming of Christ, because only a few Orthodox Christians know the details about that event, antichrist and mark of the beast? God bless.
Novi Jerusalim When we have the "Heavenly Spirit" of Truth, we will know in our hearts when antichrist is about to appear, and to refuse any mark given by this Satanic person. The Nicene Creed tells of His 2nd coming "to judge the living and the dead, Whose Kingdom will have no end"! We live the Divine Liturgy experiencing His 1st coming (proskimidi), His present coming to each of us in the Holy gifts, and stand waiting for His strength to believe and receive His coming at the end of the Ages, Amen!
apologies: I accidentally removed a wonderful comment "I am interested in Orthodoxy"! God bless and keep you encouraged with His JOY and peace on your journey into the Holy Faith. WE recommend the Greek Orthodox churches since they seem to be careful about witnessing to the Faith, but there are wonderful churches in every jurisdiction. WE pray that He leads you to the one closest to your needs!
1) I am a romanian member of the Orthodox Church, the only church! I am here because i was curious to see how americans speak of orthodoxy and how they perceive it. I was pleasantly surprised to find father Arsenie Papacioc in this video. Though i must say that it did not inspire me as most interviews do, and i don't know if it is because it's in English, or whatever the reason may be. It is nice to see that someone tries to preach the one true faith to such a vast country that, before Seraphim
We are missionaries to Protestants, most of whom do not believe that Orthodox are even Christians! So, we use what is "familiar" to bridge into the more-foreign byzantine sound that requires getting accustomed to in our country.
@cuttlefisch If you have links to English byzantine chanting, that would be appreciated! Our last program we used Divna and the Creed and praises to the Theotokos - but the words cannot be understood.... which is not welcoming to those being introduced to the Faith!
Thank you. And I really like the music: it is not Protestant, but a classical heritage one. Much of Orthodox chanting is based on music harmony elaborated by Bach and other great musicians ( Catholic and Protestant!). Being Orthodox should not be an impoverishing limitation. There is only one truth, and once something is true and beautiful it belongs to One Christ.
Soundofmusic777 the hymn was written by Presbyterian minister, Maltbie Davenport Babcock. Anyone who confesses and believes in the Lord Jesus Christ, and is filled with The Holy Spirit belongs to the Lord and are of His true body. Many Protestants are the Lords and have the Spirit and the gifts the Spirit. Blessings!
@@theoswithme But the "Spirit will lead you into ALL the Truth"...that's the journey into the Orthodox Christian Apostolic Church with teachings passed along (2 Tim 2:2) to trusted Elders. "The gates of Hades have NOT prevailed against His Church" - His Word is true. Amen!
Augustine of Hippo's teachings were condemned (with the filioque) by the Photion Council, Council of Orange (earlier) and the Palamite Council (as taught by Barlaam the Latinist). Dr. Romanides' work exposes the "original sin as guilt" heresy and mistranslation of the Book of Romans. I am an Orthodox theologian, unfortunately not prosphora "baker" since my priest-husband takes on that duty with grace!
Ok...I undestand. I didn't mean to upset you. Just a polite question. Family is also a beautiful thing and it's surely noble to teach your children the faith and living the sacrament of marriage.
Greetings in Christ! Yes, you are right about priesthood certainly. Altar area may be served by those designated to do so. Even men cannot be in altar area - as our vladika reminds us - without being properly robed and with permission.
What site is that on, because I'd like to listen to it. Also, I say listen, because I'm blind, and even though it may not be audio described, I'm sure I can figure out what's happening. Is in English?
We must be filled with the All-Holy Spirit; ask in prayer (find a quiet place) for the Lord Jesus Christ to forgive us our every sin (name them with tears)... then, ask Him to "baptize me in the Holy Spirit to lead me into all the Truth". If in the next days - reading and pondering Holy Scriptures - your life's work does not become clear, then find a holy Elder nearby or write to one (St. John Baptist in Essex England perhaps?). God will guide you in His great love for you!
@trueorthodoxfaith My original reply: it is commonly taught as Orthodox doctrine in OCA churches and I've seen it in the Russian church (sermons of Martyr Daniel Sysoev) being openly accepted and taught. I nearly left Orthodoxy 25 years ago when I heard the parish priest teaching this gnostic nonsense. Thanks be to God, I found that this is not the Orthodox teaching but a myth adopted from old hagiographies (i.e. basil the new) from Thrace.
To the one just commenting about marriage as my personal choice; you did not upset me at all! Fear not! Perhaps one day, if my husband is reposed or goes to a monastery, I will as long as the family can thrive without our presence with them. God knows all; many Greek "yiayias" have done and still finish their days here on earth in a monastery.
"Original Sin" from the philosopher Augustine, was a doctrine from greek paganism in which all humans were born iinto evil flesh. "Ancestral Sin" is the correct term: Death flows to us from Adam/Eve's sin.The Lord warned that Death followed disobedience. Christ came to us and conquered Death and Sin.. Many Orthodox priests in Europe/America simply imitate the RC Augustinian teachings. We all need Dr. Romanides' work and translations of NT for the correct Orthodox Apostolic teaching.
@trueorthodoxfaith : in our area, it is being openly taught as Orthodox doctrine. I left one congregation that used Fr Seraphim Rose who taught this. The OCA metropolitan accepts it, and the Russian church in Russia teaches it as part of their catechism. Not surprising it appears in Greece, since the origins seem to be in Thrace
"the Russian church in Russia teaches it as part of their catechism" What do you mean? Sounds sth. hide between Russian church and Greek church? Very good talks, helped me lot!
@trueorthodoxfaith to continue: you are indeed correct. However, it is commonly taught and appears on St. John of Rila's monastery frescoes (horrors!) - greatly misleading the faithful and those outside of Orthodoxy. I saw it mentioned on Rick Steves' video as "the teaching of the Orthodox Church about the judgement of souls" as he visited this monastery in Bulgaria! God help us against these blasphemies denying the total victory of Christ over Satan and Death.
@floresebu Yes, we have immigrant churches in Orthodoxy. Sts Cyril and Methodius would be horrified. We have the treasure of Christ in His fullest revelation in the Ancient Orthodox Church.Yet "phylitism" (pride of culture not exalting Faith in Christ) is epidemic here; the coldness toward visitors continues to shock us here! Protestants love their neighbor and welcome them putting us to shame. "Come Spirit of Truth, cleanse us from every impurity and save us..!"
Dear Ace Archer: We do not recommend Orthodox Study Bible: The use of Augustine in the notes and other latinists is very misleading and leads to confusion between RC and the Holy Church. We DO recumbent Gospel and Apostolos printed by Buena Vista CO www.holyapostlesconvent.org without Augustine's platonic commentaries and using the Apostolic fathers ... the commentary notes on verse-by-verse basis are priceless and invaluable to the Orthodox Christian believer.
The grace of the Holy Spirit will enlighten your lives together! God bless and keep you! Find a good Greek Orthodox Church - we recommend Greek Ortho. because the Russian church has had 70 years without preaching of the Faith and many superstitions (i.e. toll-houses) have been allowed to come in to the great dismay of Christian Orthodox.
What do you mean by that? To be priests or to teach Orthodox Christianity in schools or at the university, the answer is different for them? For the first is no, for the second is yes. I had women teachers of Orthodox Christianity for 8 years.
The Holy Theotokos presents Christ to the world as the all-pure one..the first apostle. The Ointment-bearing women were directed to evangelize the apostles that Christ had risen from the dead; the Samaritan woman (St. Photini) evangelized her city. Yes, women are evangelists in the Holy Orthodox Faith - with later saints Nina of Georgia and Olga of Russia to name only two.
Just trying to get in touch for more info on your theology what books would you recommend i hear all the augustinian teaching in my churches don't like it and look to the orthodox
Dr. JS Romanides on www.romanity.org under "Contents" has great history of Papal "Frankish" Church; let me know jamatta@aol.com what particular subject you'd like information about and we can send booklet or books articles, etc as needed without charge. In Christ Jesus Presbytera Irene
2) Rose was filled with false preachings. So it is indeed a nice surprise that this video is out there (though, no offense meant, to me it did sound a little like those baptist preachers, but maybe it seems so only because i've never heard anyone actually speak of Orthodoxy in english before). Thank you for fighting the good fight, and may the good Lord give you your crown for preaching His Sons word, which He died to fulfill! God bless you, orthodox brothers around the world!!!
No, with the exception of other women and small children. Women can sing in the choir, help raise money, cook, serve in the many small ways in keeping things tidy, on the church council as a secretary, possibly a financial secretary. Theologically trained women can teach in Divinity Schools, and other schools of higher learning, but not within the confines of the Orthodox Church building. Women cannot serve as a Deaconess, though the very early church allowed it. Judith is a presbyter's wife.
You would be "shocked" to see women at the Altar serving in Convents; if there is not other to serve, women do. Also, Men cannot serve without their vestments near or at the Altar. So be careful: economia DOES take place in necessary circumstances. All rigidity is subject to the All-Holy Spirit's anointing and we must be careful not to judge from just one aspect (gender)! God is love and there are exceptions - but they remain exceptions! M. Irene
Hmm...this is a new idea! Usually I receive the comments that it may be too "animated". Depends on the video, I suppose. View the one on the Cross... Joyce Meyer looks dull compared to this one because the Cross is incredibly important to us united as it is to the power of the Resurrection reaching into Hades and to the Heavenlies with His Blood!
Maybe its a copyright issue. It sure would be allot better than 80s royalty free music! Sorry, couldnt resist. He has a point, there must be some Ensemble that would give you permission. As far as understanding the words? I would rather have great Orthodox Byzantine chant in Greek and know its the Liturgy or something I recognize, than terrible royalty free backing tracks with no lyrics. After all, we are only talking a few seconds to make that impression and set a mood. I agree.
at last, sorry for late reply!! - we found St Symeon the New Theologian choir from the church in Birmingham AL! All is free, and they are anointed by the Holy Spirit with a wonderful priest (OCA)!
No, I will check this video out! Yes, bombing of Belgrade and Kosovo our Holy land (there is more then 100 medieval orthodox monasteries) was a great sin done by NATO and UN devil worshipers. May God bless you and your missionary work!
Where can I find good English recordings of the Divine Liturgy, Byzantine chants, and the like? Anywhere I can attain them free? Any good CD's? RUclips channels?
Our videos are meant to be an outreach to the Protestant/Pentecostal peoples who Name the name of Christ as Savior, but have not rec'd the fullness of the Holy Faith! This music and lyrics reflect Orthodox theology also - and Protestants need this "bridge" realizing that what they learned correctly about the Savior is (in its original form) derived from the Ancient Orthodox Faith!
@JudithMatta I take issue with your comment concerning the Russian Orthodox Church. The theory or even doctrine of toll houses is not an accepted teaching in any Orthodox Church. It has been discussed but not agreed upon. As far as superstitions, all ethnic groups contain some for m of superstition. I have seen it in Greece.
Our experience in parishes is that toll-houses are regarded as part of official dogma; that's the reason we are exposing the unscriptural and blasphemous idea that fallen demons who are liars will ever judge His children!
with the full respect. A woman can not become a priest in the Orthodox church, neither can she go into the alter room. it's not because she is a woman, but because the priest represents Jesus Christ himself, and he happend to be male of human body. that's why only men are allowed to be priests. with all this said, I am shure that you are a much wiser person than I am. God bless you. greetings from Russia.
Women may be evangelists - the Angel at the tomb sent them to the apostles, remember.. Also remember St Photini (John 4) who went to the city preaching Christ! In Church history, as St Paul describes, women may teach other women and children. If men want to "listen in" to the message, that's wonderful! Ordination is a Mystery of the Church in which the priesthood of Christ is participated by male members. The "husband" is head of the wife, and so, Christ is Head of His Church with representatives carrying out His priestly work. This isa matter of what "ROLE" we have in Christ's Body, not a matter of "who is more equal than another"! With loving prayer, Presb'a Irene
The Lord Jesus guided me to have a husband since I needed companionship and wanted to have a family: He is the guide in all things. Late in life, one can be ready to take on a monastic life in Orthodoxy - a very different matter since the life of Sisters is patterned usually in healthier ways (no accusations of one another as in the RC old days, bitterness prevailed)! So, there may be monastic vows for us later as the Lord Jesus directs and His mother guides us!
You may visit a monastery under the right-believing Serbian bishops.. taking care to avoid Seraphim Rosie's (Platina group of gnostics) and avoiding the monasteries with foundations in. Fr Ephraim's strange false doctrines.. Please let us know if you have difficulties...sorry so very late.. just saw my comments here! Loving Prayer Irene
Remember this is not gender driven necessarily: Monastic women may and do serve at the altar by preparing all necessary, sometimes serving as needed. The Holy Theotokos bore and carried Christ Himself remember, saving our gender from Eve's disobedience...
This Is My Father's World! One of the most orthodox of protestant hymns! Consider the words of the song. What dogmatic problem is there with the hymn? That a protestant wrote it? Isn't all truth God's truth? Isn't all orthodoxy Orthodoxy?
billybagbom Some protestants are truly the sheep of Jesus. Some are saved and some are not just like some Othodox are true and some are not and the same thing for Catholics. Jesus alone knows who truly are his and he will separate the wheat from the tares when he comes.
Very dangerous to live in the "half-truths" of other denominations. The papal Church is especially egregious in reducing "grace" to mere "action" of the sacraments without keeping to the Church Councils which guide Orthodox Christianity since Acts 15 Jerusalem. No substitutes..Christ founded His Church on the apostles, and their foundations are found throughout the worldwide Orthodox Church, called "right-believing" ("ortho-dox") since Christians were identified (First. Council) The Holy Spirit comes to "lead you into ALL the Truth" not some...He requires us to leave our comfortable half-truths, and follow Him into the beauty of Holiness only possible through "thesis" - becoming like the Lord Jesus Christ as adopted sons through Baptismal waters. Amen! M Irene
We CAN recognize who belong to Him- the fruits of holiness and miracle-working only found in the Orthodox Christian faithful...because they rest on the truths of the Holy Scriptures and Person of Christ the God-Man Who transfigures us by grace.
I am a Bible student, and are grateful to God for drawing me to the passion of Jesus Christ and his followers.
Those who fight for orthodox Christianity fight for the truth. God bless all orthodox followers.

CD "More than 50 well-loved Hymns" London Philharmonic Orchestra and chorus (title name not exact, sorry!)
Joyce Meyer looks dull
compared to this one because the Cross is incredibly important to us united as it is to the power of the Resurrection reaching into Hades and to the Heavenlies with His Blood!
The opening is so familiar. Where is it from?
Hymn "This is my Father's World"... God keep you in His grace.. M. Irene
RUclips channels?
amvlover you just type in RUclips- "Byzantine chant in English" and will open lot of them.
St Vladimir's choir has full English Divine Liturgy: David Drillock was conducting - this is an excellent "vintage" year for the seminary!
great video, fills me with joy. what is the singing at the end and where is it from ? (i want to get some on cd)
David Drillock conducting: St Vlad's seminary choir (early recording) of Divine Liturgy. Awesome! M Irene
Nice video, but why protestant music?
Our videos are meant to be an outreach to the Protestant/Pentecostal peoples who Name the name of Christ as Savior, but have not rec'd the fullness of the Holy Faith! This music and lyrics reflect Orthodox theology also - and Protestants need this "bridge" realizing that what they learned correctly about the Savior is (in its original form) derived from the Ancient Orthodox Faith!
Judith Irene Matta Well said Judith.
Hello Judith can I ask you why you have not became an Orthodox Nun after leaving the Catholic convent? I'm just curious about it. God bless you.
Do you have any information on vocations?
@marykfilms Leave us your phone# on my comments section and we'll give you a call!
where are u from?
American with an Orthodox Christian Mission (Greek Arch ) in California. God bless you in all of this darkness around us! Presb'a Irene
if u dont belive that the orthodoxy is universal (catholic) u are not orthodox!
