As great as everyone is in this band, and they're all elite, the unsung hero of this band is Lee Wall. You literally cannot find a drummer who plays like him. He is a songwriter's dream drummer. Just a truly brilliant drummer! Outstanding tempo, dynamics, ideas...this guy is the perfect drummer, in my opinion.
You're so very right. Just thought he stood out to me personally. He's exactly how I'd like to play drums. Met him after a gig in 2003, he was really modest and happy to mix with audience post gig. We talked about his warm snare sound, he'd one of those stories about how he picked it up in a thrift store for $10 or so... it was a really early gretsch of course!! Dang it!! Cymbals on this recording are just mic'd beautifully too.
Geez, last time I saw Luna was at the Black Cat in DC in either 2002 or 03.. been awhile! My band through the '90's up until Rendezvous, and 'retirement'
I found WFMU on my Walkman while living with my crazy grandparents in Bay Ridge. It was the only time God ever checked in on me, that I can remember. I must say, it's been a while, God.
Hearing Car wash hair for the first time in 20 years or so, brought back good memories. Never heard of Luna and Looked them up and it seems an indie supergroup, Mercury Rev, Galaxie 500
