Shapps is unqualified and should be held accountable for his incompetence.
That’s pretty much hit the nail on the head, how many politicians actually worked in the sector they are a minister of? That should surely be a requirement.

Quick! CLAP for you!
@@AldousC I don't want a clap... I want this fascist government to fund the NHS and give everyone fair pay!
Until people in the NHS start exposing and speaking about the following, none of you deserve a payrise as you're no better than the Tories.
Why the squalid cover-ups in the NHS?
The NHS cover-up deaths from negligence and bully anyone who tries to blow the whistle when anyone ties to bring to light failings of putting patients’ lives at risk.
There is a culture of bullying, intimidation and lies in the NHS reaching to the very top and If any one tries to uncover bad practices their messages go unanswered, or are stonewalled.
Patients died needlessly through NHS incompetence and negligence by the staff.
The NHS could/have commissioned psychiatric reports that labels people - wholly falsely - as a paranoid schizophrenic if they try to blow the whistle. It is of course, the old Soviet Union which was given to silencing its critics by certifying them as insane.
Roger Davidson lost his job as the CQC’s head of media and public affairs just before the 2010 General Election after revealing that one quarter of NHS trusts had failed to meet basic hygiene standards.
The NHS and everyone associated with them attempt to 'restore public confidence in the NHS', by lying.
At the very root lies an appalling litany of serial incompetence, indifference and even cruelty by front-line staff. Let us not forget the dreadful events themselves in Morecambe Bay hospitals, where at least 16 babies and two mothers are estimated to have died through neglect, and in Mid Staffs, neglect and cruelty reached such a pitch that patients drank from flower vases to relieve their thirst.
14 hospitals were investigated for unusually high death rates. And we know from example after sickening example that too many elderly patients are treated all too frequently with a callousness that defies belief.
While thousands of NHS staff are highly professional and dedicated, far too many have simply lost the ethic of caring, and these failings are not being addressed; because what rules in the NHS, from top to bottom, is a culture of ruthless unaccountability in which the buck stops nowhere.
Patients have no power to vote with their feet - as they do in insurance-based systems. Meanwhile, the regulators developed into a crazily spiralling bureaucracy answerable to no one and looking after their own interests instead.
The NHS wash their hands of responsibility when things went wrong, Instead, they dump that burden upon the myriad quangos set up for that purpose -while wrapping themselves in the mantle of the potent NHS myth as Britain’s sanctified temple of compassion and altruism, as a result, the entire service knows it has to conspire to pretend that everything was for the best in the best of all possible health care systems - and anyone trying to tell the truth is threatened with the sack, gagged when they left or otherwise bullied by amoral apparatchiks.
The CQC cannot be put right because the NHS cannot be put right for the root of this moral and professional corruption is that the entire bureaucracy of the NHS - up through the Secretary of State to the Prime Minister himself - conspires to tell the public the big lie that the NHS remains a national treasure because no other system matches it for decency and compassion, in fact, the opposite is true. And until that fact is honestly faced and its consequences translated into a radical rethink of healthcare delivery, the horror voiced in official circles at Morecambe Bay, Mid Staffs and the rest will be no more than crocodile tears.
Holy shit - the amount of contempt for anyone who isn't in his social class is insane.

Minimum safety levels whilst strikes are on! How ridiculous is that when those levels can’t even be met in non strike days. Let’s have those minimum service levels every day, please.
Minimum safety levels can't be maintained during non strike days because staffing levels are kept to a minimum. This is also happening across the private sector .I'm sure you're aware what sort of an impact this has had on the police service when that was cut by 20%.
Take the rail workers, for instance, if the rail companies are wanting to impose job cuts across the network, shedding thousands of jobs just how much of impact on efficiency and safety that's going to have. All this while they impose another above average fair hikes on the travelling public.
I think its going to be hard for him to come up with minimum levels that are being met even outside of a strike.
Can these interviewers PLEASE for the LOVE OF GOD challenge the "independent pay review body" point properly. THE GOVERNMENT SETS THE OVERAL BUDGET THEY HAVE TO WORK WITH. If there's only crumbs available, of course the review body is going to say well the fairest thing in this scenario is a few crumbs for each sector. PAY THE PUBLIC SECTOR MORE, IT'S COLLAPSING UNDER OUR FEET.
"We picked them and told them what we wanted them to say and they independently agreed with us. Also we ignored them last year but now we're 100% on board with them"
I loved how hee just really contradicted himself as he said "We will never withdraw the right to strike from people but..."
My step - daughter is an ICU nurse and her last "pay rise" was enough to pay for half a day's parking at her place of work per week for a year
A reminder: They keep saying “minimum safety levels”, yet the legislation says “minimum service levels” - because it’s not actually about safety, it’s about companies being allowed undermining the ability to strike.
How about we see a 'minimum service level' from MPs? 4-day weeks comprised of roughly 3-hous of work is netting them a minimum of £84,000 per annum, and that is before you factor in extra salaries for Ministerial posts and second (and third) jobs! They constantly bang on about the "work shy" being a burden on society, yet they hardly ever put in a proper day's work and have their utility bills and second homes funded by public money. They have a publicly subsidised Bar in the Palace of Westminster (their workplace). If anyone else was found to be drunk (or even drinking) whilst at work, they'd be given their redundancy papers immediately! It's time that we stopped subsidising them and forced them to play by the same rules and laws as everyone else. "Enough is enough!"
And also they say nurses only department got a pay rise over covid... Yea, others where drinking at home under furlough scheme...
The ‘Independent’ Pay Review Body functions under the parameters set by HMG so it isn’t free to independently determine what an appropriate pay rise would be. Also, HMG ignored the IPRB when it suited them…
Indeed. The government appoints the members and tells them how much money has already been allocated for the pay budget. All the Pay Review Body can do is decide whether that sum of money is spread equally across all workers or whether some grades get more or less than others.
Tories always thrust their grasping greedy hands out when they get offered an above inflation pay rise. 'independent' my arse

Exactly ! well said
Minimum safety levels during the strike? He's having a laugh, you're not guaranteed an ambulance for a stroke or heart attack when they're not striking. 😔
My wife recently collapsed in the street in Cardiff, banged her head, was unconscious, bleeding from the head and had difficulty breathing..I was told it would be a 12 hour wait for an ambulance. We had to get a taxi to A & E, wait another 6 hours, still hadn't been seen by a doctor, and were then told it would be a further 10 hours to see a doctor., Nobody could tell us whether she had a fractured skull or a bleed on the brain, so we went home to Birmingham and had another 4 hour wait to be seen at A & E before we saw a doctor. All turned out OK, and at Birmingham it had to be said they were very good. Cardiff was a disaster -12 hour wait for an ambulance to attend to a collapse and head injury on the street was an unacceptable level of performance. The way they dealt with it at Cardiff A&E (which is in a terrible state in terms of maintenance) was to have an hourly roll-call of patients to see who had left the buiding. It was obvious that this was their coping strategy, as people who were not being seen simply went home or somewhere else. All credit to the staff who were doing their best, but this is the current level of service in the NHS emergency departments.
