Not at all, Anderson showed the Chief's true colours. You're on the otherside of the divide and Anderson wiped the floor with him. The Met is too scared to do anything to these protesters, and if you know anything you would know the law already exists to deal with this disruption, the forthcoming law is to help underpin existing laws. I’m an ex Met officer. Nobody conducts themselves in a homophobic, misogynistic or racist manner when a higher level officer is in their midst. This should be screaming obvious to anyone with half a brain. It’s no different to children acting up, and then adjusting their behavior when adults or parents then enter the room. It’s literally being aware of accountability being present.
I'm not even sure that 30p has a quarter of a brain let alone half of one, but I'm afraid that is par for the course with the current government that seems filled with idiots, crooks and those who kindly could be called incompetant

A Tory MP should be ashamed of the cuts that cost the police their most experienced officers and replaced them with youngsters who done a couple of weeks of training, they closed hundreds of police stations and got rid of tens of thousands of support workers. There's no excuse for the state of the police, but the Tories bear responsibility for the manufacture of those problems...
Can't see how experience helps when your job is to stand around cheering on protestors screwing over normal peoples lives and not upholding the law. The police chief was right about the law re protest and at least two of the MPs on the Committee were wrong (Lee Anderson and Tim Loughton, who interjected). The Highways Act 1980 prohibits obstruction of the highway *"without lawful authority or excuse"* - a clause that some people who mention the Act do not seem to be aware of. The courts have held that, *to some extent*, it is lawful to exercise the right to protest on the highway (I think the leading case is DPP v Ziegler [2021] UKSC 23, in which the Supreme Court upheld the acquittal of some arms fair protesters). Evidently, Anderson was incapable of a substantive response and so he resorted to ad hominem.

Mr Anderson is a senior officer himself as Vice Chair of the Conservative Party. He refers to Met Police Chief Chief wishing that should have had more more than five years absence of leave. If the lastest polling data is accurate we can be assured that Mr Anderson will be given permanent absence in the next Parliament. During which time one might hope he could find something to do other than making a fool and nuisance of himself as an MP and sitting on the HO Select Committee. Tax payers deserve better. But I doubt he understands the concept. As one sees here.
