I was looking for a quick way of adding the roofs. I guess I will keep using sketch up for that.

Cool, I had to model a surrounding building for a ‘Streetscape’ planning elevation last week - I did it as a ‘model in place’ and it worked really nice, I just put all surrounding elements on a separate work set so I can hide it easy when I don’t wanna see it.

Can we bring other models we’ve done in separate files to the massing model and place as blocks ( like in Sketchup) ? For example when doing a housing scheme with 4 or 5 repeating housing types, that we have modelled each type individually in separate files to put together in final context model.
I’ve learned so much from your videos. Thank you so much 🙏

How come when doing an inplace mass the mass model was translucent? I get the same but don't know how to turn opacity off.

would you recommend Sketchup or Revit for urban design? I think Revit looks better but I have read that it quickly becomes slow when working at larger scales, is that right??. I also don't want to avoid placing topography in the model (great to see you used it here in your model), living in the UK, many towns and cities have small hills / sloping sites and therefore integral to the design.
Any suggestions on here about the best software... I really need to learn one fast before I start a Urban Design course in September.

System gets very slow while working on bigger projects. Is there any system settings for revit to make it fast.?
I'm working with a Dell inspiron i7 processor with 16gb ram and 4 GB GTX 1050 Ti nvidia graphic .

I know the cadmapper will import the surrounding areas for you. Do you know any other site paid or free that can export the surrounding areas with more detail? For instance, homes with ridge roof outline, i.e.

using the existing, demo, proposed topo funtions. Model your existing topo, use the grading tool, it will create a new topo surface and it will give cut and fill numbers
