Just yesterday I bought Spin the Dawn purely based on your recommendation! Also Fireborne because of you an Regan from Peruse Project, and since I had you on my mind while shopping, I saw Dark of the West, remembered you recently hauled it, and put it in the cart as well (although you haven’t even recommended it yet 🤣) but I trust your love for fireborne -> trust the author -> trust the author’s taste We’ll see how that goes 😂
An ending not living up to how I was feeling the rest of the book is always the worst. Its like I forget about how amazing it was up to that point when that happens
Hi Elliot just thought you might like to know I've taken the plunge and picked up the Way of Kings on Audible, The Blade Itself and The Lies of Locke Lamora in hardcopy. Loving Way of Kings so far. Thanks again for helping me back into fantasy.
That "ending battle" in RIthamtist was so good. i loved that teamwork :D I cant believe that kind of cliffhanger when it didnt seem like Sanderson had an intention to return to it (especially anytime soon) I feel like he could have easily ended it to seem like its more final, and still create sequels.
Elle! I read Gideon the Ninth a little while ago and I really liked it. Gideon is such a fun character (witty, stubborn, awesome warrior) and really drew me into the story, and then there’s a sort-of mystery aspect to it which I really enjoyed. Haven’t read the second one yet, but I’ve heard the author takes a lot of risk in how it’s written, so hopefully I like that one just as much too!
Literally just purchased the “The Raven’s Shadow” and “The Raven’s Blade” book series’. £45 hopefully well spent... They sound very intriguing and very much my taste! Great video as usual! :)
Might I suggest listening to the audiobook of The Licanius Trilogy if you do pick it back up. I felt it was more enjoyable that way. The reveals are great and you grow to love the characters even more as you continue. There are definitely flaws but I thought it was well worth the read 😊
I loved bloodsong and picked it up because of you! Still need to read the rest of the series though... I'm going to try to read the second one next month 😃
I need to keep Josiah Bancroft in mind. That book seems fascinating. I love quirky stories. If it is even close to 'Rosencrantz and Gildenstern are Dead' with its quirkiness I would be very happy. 😃
I don't know if you'd jam with "Mythago Wood" by Robert Holdstock (I did a video on it), but if you can cope with a bit of quirk go for it. Very very different fantasy. I think I'm going to pick up Senlin Ascends in the same vein.
Senlin was such a cool book. I finished it a few days ago, and my thoughts are still super scrambled. I was wondering what the tower was a metaphor for. Perceived cultural advancement? The social ladder? Capitalism? I don't know. That book reminded me of the MLK quote, "socialism for the rich, rugged individualism for the poor." It's not often I'm reminded of that quote while reading a fantasy book. I hear the cultural and societal critiques are more precise and later books, so I'm super excited. I'm happy Allen and Charmaine recommended it to me and listened to my incoherent babbling.
......................Maybe.. MAYBE.. you should continue with the Winternight trilogy... It /is different from the first book and has more of what you like. And if it's angry tears you wish to shed, it might be a good idea to give that a second chance... On a different note I've started Shadow & Bone because I really badly needed to know the magic system.
Yes! I feel like an outsider when I say that "The Shadow of What Was Lost", wasn't that great. The prose feels almost elementary at times and the plot a little too convenient. What it really shouts to me is 'new author', which is what he is. That is ok and maybe it gets better going forward, but this book was not one that I would revisit.
@Elliot Brooks. When came we expect a cover reveal/release date duo of: Remnants of Dawn: The Dark Shores Book Two? P.S. Will you be doing a video on the cover reveal/release date duo on all the books in: The Dark Shores series?????
You should definitely try to check out The Ravenspire Series by C.J Redwine I Loved That Series So Much and there four different stories so you don’t have to read them in order Have a Wonderful Day tomorrow 😊
Lol I was going to recommend Soulswift by the author of The bird and the blade. But I feel Soulswift was not just sad but beautiful and I loved the characters and the over all plot.
I recommend the manga Claymore! Definitely not talked about on booktube enough - it’s a medieval setting where warriors known as “claymores” are forced to carry the flesh & blood of man eating demons called Yoma within themselves in order to kill said demons.
Hey I wanted to ask if you’re watching the promised neverland season 2? If you are, just know that most of the story arcs were skipped over, this season has been super unfaithful to the source material. I recommend you not watch it and instead read the manga. It’s unfortunate how TPN ended up getting one of the worst anime adaptations of all time.
You had us at TRAGIC! Adding to TBR now!
Blood song is definitely going on my TBR! It sounds like a really nice read
I put Senlin Ascends on my TBR, lol. I really like books that use fiction/fantasy to comment on real world problems.
Blood song is awesome book. It's pity that the second book is slightly worse and the third one even more... But the first one was 5 out of 5 for me.
Happy reading to you!! 📖🎬

Yay Way of Kings! I adore the two narrators for that series. Have fun!

Ahh! I remember talking about the bird ad the blade with you way back!! Loved that book!
🤘 JUST finished The Ninth Rain based on your recommendation and it was just brilliant 💙 Thanks Elle x

The book I would always recommend is Written in Red by Anne Bishop.
It's one of my absolute favorites and the world is just so unique
love the vid but, can you please fix Thunderhead?! has this been driving anyone else insane? i'm sorry but this is killing me
So glad you love SENLIN ASCENDS! That series shot up to one of my top 10 of all time. I can't wait for the final book this fall.
Literally just purchased the “The Raven’s Shadow” and “The Raven’s Blade” book series’.
£45 hopefully well spent... They sound very intriguing and very much my taste!
Great video as usual! :)
I love the Rithmatist (it was the first Sanderson book I picked up because a friend gave it to me) and I rarely hear anyone talk about it
Might I suggest listening to the audiobook of The Licanius Trilogy if you do pick it back up. I felt it was more enjoyable that way. The reveals are great and you grow to love the characters even more as you continue. There are definitely flaws but I thought it was well worth the read 😊
I did listen partly to the audiobook 😊
I loved bloodsong and picked it up because of you! Still need to read the rest of the series though... I'm going to try to read the second one next month 😃
I recommend the Crown of Coral and Pearl duology! The first book is one of my favorites of all time!
I need to keep Josiah Bancroft in mind. That book seems fascinating. I love quirky stories. If it is even close to 'Rosencrantz and Gildenstern are Dead' with its quirkiness I would be very happy. 😃
If you like quirky you may like The Library at Mount Char.

Man, it sucks waiting for that second book 😂
There is a stand alone book called The Library at Mount Char that you may like. It is one of the most original and strange stories I've read.
......................Maybe.. MAYBE.. you should continue with the Winternight trilogy... It /is different from the first book and has more of what you like. And if it's angry tears you wish to shed, it might be a good idea to give that a second chance...

Please try the cradle series , It is a progression fantasy(like dragon ball super) , I think your husband will love it more than you but give it a try
Lol I was going to recommend Soulswift by the author of The bird and the blade. But I feel Soulswift was not just sad but beautiful and I loved the characters and the over all plot.
I wish I could recommend you books but I get all of my recommendations from you 😹
The clearing by heather Davis it's a romance❤💖💓
Bloodsong sounds awsome!
I was wondering have you ever read any of the Discworld books? I don't think I have heard you talk about them?
Allen influenced me 100% to read Senlin Ascends
Sucky endings are the WORST.
have you read Song of Achilles?? I thi k youd love it
I recommend the manga Claymore! Definitely not talked about on booktube enough - it’s a medieval setting where warriors known as “claymores” are forced to carry the flesh & blood of man eating demons called Yoma within themselves in order to kill said demons.
I know about Claymore! My hubby and I both like it 😄
@@ebnovels awesome! It’s definitely great til the end if you haven’t finished it :)
YES that ending anger is real 😳👀
I haven’t read any of these ones!
Ahhhh!!! Anthony Ryan!!!! I don't shut up about him. 😂😂😂
If you had elf ears you would look exactly like a WoW character
Daww this was a cute video.

First season got me so hooked that I had really high expectations😬 looks like it's time to pick up the manga.
