  • The small rear door would not unlatch because one of the operating cables detached from its holding slot. Here's how we replaced just the cable sheath's end piece to get the latch operational again.

I've replaced the broken plastic parts on both ends of the cable on both doors but the doors would only open from outside and not from inside. I didn't notice the other cable in the back also has a broken plastic end that needs replacing as well until I saw your video. Thanks so much..really appreciate your help.

Thank you for making this video. Very direct straight to the point I thought this was going to be a nightmare to get the door panel off like most of these suicide doors. This one was surprisingly easy to come off except for this stupid little plastic clip like you said. This was exactly problem I was having on the driver side I was able to temporarily secure that cable to get the door working thank you so much

It is very worth it to remove the speaker (4 bolts and a wire harness clip). Then you can stick your whole arm in and up through the speaker hole to reach behind that actuator thing in the middle of the door.

hi..if you haven't gotten them yet I bought off the shelf in Auto Zone they other day and they charged $14.00 for 4 cable ends and Amazon charges $7.00 for 4 cable ends. All the cable ends are broken in my truck so I needed 6.

I would SERIOUSLY recommend you replace them ANYWAY. even if you do NOT need to... you NEED to.. at around 20 years of age, they are a soft and VERY breakable rubber.
DO NOT SLAM YOUR DOORS if you have a ford of ANY kind...
it is almost a wax type of rubber, my pocket knife, which IS sharp, carved it like it was BUTTER.. as if i were using a razor blade, and it is not THAT sharp.
it is on a scale, that EVERY ford i see aboiut 20 years old, has this problem.
They should issue a recall for the problem, and replace them with METAL.
you should get an 8 pack MINIMUM.
they are in the top ad bottom as well.
yet i have yet to figuire out how to get the top apart to replace them, prolly gonna have to bend them, put it on, isert, and bend them back....
seriously... BAD design all the way around ford.. hope the others used another typr of material... go RAM !
the ones around the handles uses are notched.. has a notch in the base that slides onto the bar...but if they run out at factory, they could switch them... noit much left to see in some cases.. ,
