Imagine if HBO also had the rights to The Witcher. Maybe they, unlike Netflix, would understand what the fans want and what makes them like The Witcher.

A former producer confirmed this and about a week or two later Cavill left.

seen two reviews from press in my country. Both very positive reviews. a 6 and 5 on the dice from those two.
Well they gave tlou 2 a 10 and the guy who reviewed the game works for naughty dog now so I'd keep my expectations low.

The thing is, that show is clearly made with a lot of love and detail. It's just clear the writers needed to "show-ify" their plot lines in a very gimmicky way

Halo barely has a story to adapt, and no characters.
Halo is 90% gameplay and barely has a story. The Last of Us is pretty much already a movie. They could simply just act out the cutscenes and it would still be alright.
Whoever hasn't played the game in grounded mode is missing a lot. It's a complete different experience playing the game this way. It feels like being in a true survival apocalyptic world. Highly recommend it!

HBO is truly in a league of their own. Everything they put out is absolute gold. House of the dragon, White lotus and now this and many more. Netflix and other platforms can learn a thing or two from HBO.

I’ve read other reviews and all of their complaint seems to be only one which is the pacing, like what he said in this review. If it weren’t for that it would’ve been 10/10.

@@joefayant8470Mostly means they aren’t too afraid the ending of the season will get spoiled, probably due to the ending already being public knowledge since the game has been out for a decade.
@Reservoir Frogs Some reviewers seem to have received only the first 4 episodes, but it sounds like IGN received all of them. Maybe others will receive the final episodes soon.
Yeah, usually they get about the first first few episodes of a season to give their first impressions. They’ve done the same with this series although it sounds like this reviewer was given the entire season, so it must be on a case by case basis.

The nod to Jin Sakai and Kratos in the cold open was total class

It's going outside the box a lot. 2 episodes focused on romantic relationships, and no clickers for multiple episodes.
Shows like the Witcher season 2 and on halo could’ve been amazing.
Having never played the game, but know the plot somewhat from game clips I’ve seen, really looking forward to this. Also, I’ll watch anything with Pedro/Mando…this is the way.

Ive played the last of us series. It's one of the best gaming experiences I've ever had. With that being said if your not into playing the games enjoy the series. Don't feel like you have to play the games because you don't.
This show is almost exactly like the game It feels like I'm watching this for the second time

Without dropping spoilers, how far through the game does this first season go? Did they squeeze the entire journey into 9 episodes? Or will the original game be shown via 2-3 seasons?
Covers the entire first game and season 2 will cover the entire second game.
Its the full first game + the Left Behind DLC too

If directors and producers got together to stick to source material and not worry about the color of someone’s skin as long as the acting for that role is portrayed to the source material then perfect.
The crash bandicoot cameo was down right amazing

In 2005 they would have gotten credit. In 2022 it’s an overdone token at best.
The game was the show. No point in even making a series. Just watch the cut scenes from the game. Better than any show will do it justice.

I've said since they've revealed the principal cast and crew that the entire show hinged on Bella Ramsay. Everyone else is a known commodity and are all very talented(Anna Torv and Nick Offerman I'm particularly excited about), but Bella is the one wild card. Glad to see early reports saying she nails it.

One thing about the games was the repetitive infected interactions. The more it progressed, the less “scary” they got. I’m glad they’re building up the tension for the general audience. This will be fun. ALSO IF ANYONE SAYS SOMETHING ABOUT BILL’S RELATIONSHIP IM GONNA FLIP. Thanks

The writer of Chernobyl helped write this series alongside Neil. They both stated that they didn’t want to fall into the “video game adaptation trap”. People will have to see it for themselves to form a conclusion.
@@brixcer Neil and a team of others worked on the story/world/direction of the first Last of Us. That team all became disenfranchised with Neil’s direction and behavior, so they all left the company between the two games. Druckmann has gone off the deep end, and the other people responsible for the first game’s magic already left.

6:04 Why do people always call TLOU1 "Neil Druckmann's story?" Why do people keep leaving Bruce Straley out of conversation? TLOU was his brainchild, he was the main person in charge of the story, Druckmann primarily focused on directing. Druckmann was the main writer for part 2.
If HBO made The Witcher it would actually feel like a Witcher, dark, twisted and cruel, rather than a family friendly princes show with some woke flavor. Stoked for The Last of Us, really stoked to hear the soundtrack.

Reviews like saying this is a faithful adaptation when it is just another thing where characters are color swapped. Funny thing about it is if a random brown character was changed there would be backlash. We've been trained to accept one thing while getting mad at another.
