I didn't play Asta much until I started pulling Eidolons for her, so I had a fire weakness enemy and I was like "eh, I'll give her a shot." Then I realized that each hit of her skill will degrade the enemies toughness more than once, and that sold her for me.
The game s still new, and ppl havent figured out different playstyles n team comps yet. And just like u said, the first 2 banners were both hypercarries, so the normal buffers r easier to use than someone like Asta, not to mention she actually needs some gear n Eidolon to rlly get going
She actually straight up gives free turns and extra damage to your whole team. Every 2 ultis you use, your whole team gets a free turn, and she also gives constant attack buff. The reason she isn't as widely used is because not everyone has her at E4, but once she is E4, she becomes one of the best supports, on par with Tingyun and Bronya (though she only really shines vs fire weakness enemies).
I've been having a lot of fun pairing her with Welt to *really* press the speed advantage. You can get so many turns before the enemy has a chance to move, it's hilarious. Running them alongside Jing Yuan allows your Lightning Lord to stay fairly well stacked, and your healer ends up bearing a lot less pressure on your skill points because the enemy is barely attacking anyways; I'm currently running Natasha, but I'll probably switch to Luocha if I get lucky enough to snag him~

I honestly think asta getting defense with more charge stacks as her trace is solid. obviously you can make the case that if she could gain more stacks and boost everyone more and kill the enemies faster, you wouldn’t need defense. but with an hp body and sphere (since she doesn’t need any stats beside energy regen and speed) + leveling her and her light cone to at least 70/80 allows her to tank decently well. especially since you want to put her next to your preservation/abundance unit, she takes hits pretty well for a non-tank unit (in comparison to a certain foxian harmony character who loves getting hit and dying all the time). admittedly, leveling the three star meshing cogs feels like a huge waste. but it is actually worth it in my opinion! anyways, great video as always! I watch a lot of video guides for both genshin and star rail, but yours are my favorite because you put in hilarious jokes and you’re overall super entertaining
I only started building asta after I pulled for JY. Not really for her buffs but for toughness breaking since I need a fire. Realized her potential after a while and she's part of my team.
I love Asta. I skipped her early game but had Eidolons after pulling for SW. E4 now and building her as a breaker/pusher with Wheat and Vonwacq with Speed ATK% Break Eff% FireDMG% alternating between Memories of the Past (with Clara) and Dance Dance Dance (Jing Yuan, Yanqing). She's great! 15-20k breaks, 61% Atk buff, Speed buffs.

But break effect only happens when ASTA is the one breaking, which isn't always the case. I'd personally go more fire damage to whittle down the shield faster on the planar orb

As a Fire Party User, Asta is pretty much the core of my team, ignoring the fact I switch her out for supports when I need them. My team consists of Fire MC, Himeko, Bailu, and Asta. Ignoring the fact Bailu is a Lightning Character, it's mostly focused around Asta in the idea that she provides pretty powerful dmg buffs to everyone in the party. Furthermore, my greatest use for Asta has been focused around two traits of this party, that being my use of Himeko, and enemy Fire Weakness. As was stated in this video, Asta is fantastic for Weakness Breaks, and while I don't have the miracle that is Silverwolf, I can still kick any Boss's Ass with what makes Asta shine in my eyes. Something I think a lot of people ignore about Asta is her capability to annihilate any Fire Weakness Boss out there, with here skill being a multi-bounce on single characters, she can destroy an enemy's weakness in an instant, supply a weak, but helpful buff to the team, and if you have Himeko, trigger her reaction every Three Breaks (Two if we're counting the first round) to hit the entire team, or in this case, my very unfortunate boss, for pretty impressive damage in all. If we consider all the enemies are Fire Weak as well, I hope you could see where I find my enjoyment in Honkai: Star Rail. Absolute destruction. Now, I personally, made the horrid mistake of running Asta with an Attack Build. Don't shame me, I just really liked the multi-attack. Beyond that, with Fire MC and Bailu generating skill points pretty much every turn, alongside a shield (in Fire MC's case), and Asta alongside Himeko spamming skills, I'm currently running a Break Factory with Asta and Himeko all over it. Essentially, this goes to show that it doesn't really matter how you build your character exactly. What matters more is the concept you build them around, whether it's to use her ult every 2 Turns (Which I don't), or to torture and annihilate both Bosses and Parties alike. Overall, pretty solid Build, twas an enjoyable video. You've gained a new subscriber and my respect in the form of a single thumbs up.
What I hoped this guide would show and what I heard no one talk about yet is how impactful her speed buff actually is. We know it's nice to have speed, but how much is it actually helping? How many extra turns per cycle would it give you in MoC? I feel like this should be the most important aspect of her character but everyone kind of side steps it.
@@jamescampbell5734 Unless you have the resources to enable a 2-turn ult cycle with Asta, she's not really going to help much with regards to speed requirements. Why would you rely on having Asta's ult active to get those buffs, when you can just give any character in the game speed boots which would easily put them at 120+ speed guaranteed? The only speed requirement it really helps with is Talia's planar set which requires 145 speed, and not many characters even use that set.
The thing is her speed buff isnt one size fits all and it's hard to say exactly how much benefit you get from it because it depends on your team. If you kept hypothetical 100% uptime on her ult in MoC you could see anywhere from 40%-70% more attacks over 6 cycles it just really depends on your characters already existing speed stats
@@Braxophone Exactly because it varies so much is why I wish there was a dive on how good it can actually be, similiar to how you had multiple tables for all her er requirements (love that part btw). Everything else is pretty easy to figure out, but the speed buff is arguably the most important part of her kit and I can't really find any guide showing how strong it actually is other than just "speed is good".
Thanks for the E1 info for 6 extra energy that i didnt know about. Somehow got asta E5 and memories of the past S3. Just require one more superposition to consistently get ult in 2 turns. For now, I will just use break effect set, getting hit and killing enemies for that last bit of energy. I could use asta with 1 skill and 2 basics to fill up her ult and be skill point positive. This is just my advice after using her in MoC: 1. Spam asta ult button at the very beginning of the battle before your and the enemies turn if have full energy as everyone will start at the 0 “distance” mark so the speed buff will take affect on the 10000 “distance” units before the buff starts ticking down. 2. Otherwise, It is normally best to use asta ult after everyone has done their actions so there is more “distance” for the team for speed to take effect on. 3. Her stacks decrease only in her turn so the atk buff will not wear off faster on super fast characters like sushang ult that gives another turn but the speed buff would wear off like normal. 4. Her stacks decreasing in her turn also mean she automatically has 3 less atk stacks than the team unless have E2 spamming ult. 5. If can spam ult every 2 turns, asta only needs enough speed to keep up with the team so everyone has the speed buff. If anyone has much higher speed, that character will just wear off the buff faster.
Its Ideal to have a harmony type character partnered in a hunt type of character for vetter performance and nihility type characters partnered with erudition for better break effect and effect hit rate for erudition
Asta is so underrated! tingyun might make your character hit like a fucking train but asta makes your team faster than a train also her breaks are amazing.
you could have mentioned, for team integrity or energy regeneration, the usage of the "Guard of Wuthering Snow" as alternative for her too, since, for faster ultimate rotations and while lacking abundance characters, she could be someone that can take hit alongside the preservation/destruction character (higher taunt value, as harmony), which can make her generate energy by getting hit and by running low hp while having some sustainability (the extra speed from her ultimate gives more opportunity for that relic set to work) she isn't meant to be DPS.... i mean, DPT by herself anyway, so she has a lot of versatility on her relic options, even now
Omg I finally lvled her to 60 and threw her into MoC 6-8 and she walked all over the fire shields and made my team go brrrrr for more turns and dmg. I 3* 7 and 8 for the first time because of her and didn't struggle my way through 3* 6 with my limited roster like I have the last few times. Tbf I lucked into her e6 so she's got that going for her, but she was staying alive and making an important difference even without full investment yet. Like her traces only have e3 and e5 buffs right now. I'm gonna finish building her kit now that I have the resources and watch her be my Legally Blonde "what like it's hard" character🙏❤❤ Give your Asta some love because wow is she worth it imo.
A good guide, but I think depending on your roster she might not be worth building until E2. It's hard to justify that many skill points being used by someone who doesn't deal damage. Also I would caution against running her with Silver Wolf because the best way to build her (unless you're a whale) is with break effect too and then you have two people on the team who want to break. Even if you don't want to break with Asta it's totally rng if they're fire weak cause you never know how her skill will bounce. I do have Asta at E2 and I do run her quite often in MoC because speed is just broken and her attack buff is honestly quite huge.

Personally, I wouldn't use Asta unless you have her E4, but at E4 she is an absolute beast of support (but still, she is significantly weaker if enemies aren't weak to fire). On the other hand, vs fire weak enemies she might be the best support available. E4 really makes sure that her attack% buff pretty much never expires, and she has enough energy regeneration for an Skill+Auto rotation (as long as she gets hit with a splash attack once in a while). I usually put her right next to my tank, so she gets hit with splash attacks, giving her extra 8 energy from Meshing Cogs, just enough for a 0 skill point 2 turn rotation, enabling permanent speed buff for your team. Overall, Meshing Cogs is basically the only LC worth considering on Asta, as it can generate 16 extra energy per turn (8 from hitting, and 8 from being hit). Unlike some other supports, Asta is always hitting things, and is more tanky than Tingyun, so putting her next to the tank is quite safe, and enables Skill+Basic rotation vs many enemies.
You would get a "Like" solely on the use of "Hyper Rainbow Z" alone. However, the guide was amazing as always, so if I could give a second "Like", I totally would. ;)
Got lucky for her to be my first E6, have SW, e5 hook, just need to either build pyro MC or get a pyro healer and she’ll be grand with almost constant pyro weakness from SW Alternatively give her ER for no pyro weakness and no summons fights to spam burst to freeze stacks, double DPS team with any lifeline unit
She is free, she can break enemies a lot easier, has really high HP gives all allies a speed boost "with the right relics" some characters gain additional stats from speeds boosts.
My starter was Bronya so Asta didn't had much time to shine lol, but I was leveling her sideways until SW came, but I always suggest Asta to people. Most players don't know that she have the charge mechanic and only thinks that she is a AOE DPS with a lame speed buff... or players most use Hunt characters DPS so they don't see the need to have a party buffer.
For someone that get her into e6 because of SW banner, this guide really help, especially to cope with the fact i also lose my 50/50 to himeko😂 (i'm getting all the 5-star support in my acc without a single dps lol, so seeing himeko is kinda painfull😅)
Himeko can be a much better DPS than most people give her credit for, her biggest weakness is when her and her team aren't the right match up to break the enemies. As far as struggling with single target, most bosses summon mobs as well.
I am havving e5 asta and going for e6.Her atk buffs gives like 70% atk to whole team and her speed buff is insane.I am planning to run Jingyuan Tingyun Asta and Luocha who can all benifit from asta atk buff.
As a f2p E1 Asta holder; that last team u made with fire mc+asta+SW+ Seele waa really good 👍 I use natasha instead of seele and she has the speed boots while Asta has the atk% boots 4piece break effect set, dance dance S1 & no E.R. but a break effect rope. This team with Destruction path on World 6 helped clear I & II much safely. Energy regen was no problem cause the enemies keep on hitting with that aoe ice attack and obviously Bronya. Need to know a way to beat kafka without any character dying 😢 Hate her as an enemy
In other gacha games this unit is a must have, but in honkai star rail i still learn how to use it properly, especially with garbage relics i have right now
who on earth is Junging? though if you want my opinion, herta is a terrible investment, asta and march are okay investments (don't invest too much in them though, they are just to help you get through content), main character is a great investment and... no idea who the hell Junging is. so go with the second team

So I have my Asta (E6), Light Cpne: Carve the Moon, Weave the Clouds (S2), now relic wise this game hates me so i guess my rng got be bad somewhere. Not sure which relic to go for, was planning on farming the fire set, but after this video not sure which set to go for as they all sound good out of the Light cone this one is the only one I got so set suggestion would be nice I have SW and Seele(E2), F2P here, saving all my pulls for Kafka I do have Gepard and Clara as my other 5 Star's trying do do MoC. Max E6 Natasha and Pela.

jingyuan is probably better with fox girl instead of asta. Damage buff+burst refill.

Something that noone seems to mention is asta's synergy with seele's signature. You can get max value and run atk boots on seele for even more damge.

I’d go break effect instead of damage since she’s more a utility type than a damage dealer. Better to do big break damage than poor normal damage.

It also makes sure that any speed related buff from the relic sphere/rope set is turned on. That's powerful too.

Somehow got asta E5 and memories of the past S3. Just require one more superposition to consistently get ult in 2 turns. For now, I will just use break effect set, getting hit and killing enemies for that last bit of energy.
I could use asta with 1 skill and 2 basics to fill up her ult and be skill point positive.
This is just my advice after using her in MoC:
1. Spam asta ult button at the very beginning of the battle before your and the enemies turn if have full energy as everyone will start at the 0 “distance” mark so the speed buff will take affect on the 10000 “distance” units before the buff starts ticking down.
2. Otherwise, It is normally best to use asta ult after everyone has done their actions so there is more “distance” for the team for speed to take effect on.
3. Her stacks decrease only in her turn so the atk buff will not wear off faster on super fast characters like sushang ult that gives another turn but the speed buff would wear off like normal.
4. Her stacks decreasing in her turn also mean she automatically has 3 less atk stacks than the team unless have E2 spamming ult.
5. If can spam ult every 2 turns, asta only needs enough speed to keep up with the team so everyone has the speed buff. If anyone has much higher speed, that character will just wear off the buff faster.

Mono fire goes nuts with SW+Asta.
Its Ideal to have a harmony type character partnered in a hunt type of character for vetter performance and nihility type characters partnered with erudition for better break effect and effect hit rate for erudition

Asta is so underrated! tingyun might make your character hit like a fucking train but asta makes your team faster than a train also her breaks are amazing.
you could have mentioned, for team integrity or energy regeneration, the usage of the "Guard of Wuthering Snow" as alternative for her too, since, for faster ultimate rotations and while lacking abundance characters, she could be someone that can take hit alongside the preservation/destruction character (higher taunt value, as harmony), which can make her generate energy by getting hit and by running low hp while having some sustainability (the extra speed from her ultimate gives more opportunity for that relic set to work)
she isn't meant to be DPS.... i mean, DPT by herself anyway, so she has a lot of versatility on her relic options, even now

Omg I finally lvled her to 60 and threw her into MoC 6-8 and she walked all over the fire shields and made my team go brrrrr for more turns and dmg. I 3* 7 and 8 for the first time because of her and didn't struggle my way through 3* 6 with my limited roster like I have the last few times.
Tbf I lucked into her e6 so she's got that going for her, but she was staying alive and making an important difference even without full investment yet.
Like her traces only have e3 and e5 buffs right now.
I'm gonna finish building her kit now that I have the resources and watch her be my Legally Blonde "what like it's hard" character🙏❤❤

A good guide, but I think depending on your roster she might not be worth building until E2. It's hard to justify that many skill points being used by someone who doesn't deal damage. Also I would caution against running her with Silver Wolf because the best way to build her (unless you're a whale) is with break effect too and then you have two people on the team who want to break. Even if you don't want to break with Asta it's totally rng if they're fire weak cause you never know how her skill will bounce. I do have Asta at E2 and I do run her quite often in MoC because speed is just broken and her attack buff is honestly quite huge.

Personally, I wouldn't use Asta unless you have her E4, but at E4 she is an absolute beast of support (but still, she is significantly weaker if enemies aren't weak to fire). On the other hand, vs fire weak enemies she might be the best support available. E4 really makes sure that her attack% buff pretty much never expires, and she has enough energy regeneration for an Skill+Auto rotation (as long as she gets hit with a splash attack once in a while).
I usually put her right next to my tank, so she gets hit with splash attacks, giving her extra 8 energy from Meshing Cogs, just enough for a 0 skill point 2 turn rotation, enabling permanent speed buff for your team.
Overall, Meshing Cogs is basically the only LC worth considering on Asta, as it can generate 16 extra energy per turn (8 from hitting, and 8 from being hit). Unlike some other supports, Asta is always hitting things, and is more tanky than Tingyun, so putting her next to the tank is quite safe, and enables Skill+Basic rotation vs many enemies.

Got lucky for her to be my first E6, have SW, e5 hook, just need to either build pyro MC or get a pyro healer and she’ll be grand with almost constant pyro weakness from SW
Alternatively give her ER for no pyro weakness and no summons fights to spam burst to freeze stacks, double DPS team with any lifeline unit
She is free, she can break enemies a lot easier, has really high HP gives all allies a speed boost "with the right relics" some characters gain additional stats from speeds boosts.
My starter was Bronya so Asta didn't had much time to shine lol, but I was leveling her sideways until SW came, but I always suggest Asta to people. Most players don't know that she have the charge mechanic and only thinks that she is a AOE DPS with a lame speed buff... or players most use Hunt characters DPS so they don't see the need to have a party buffer.
For someone that get her into e6 because of SW banner, this guide really help, especially to cope with the fact i also lose my 50/50 to himeko😂 (i'm getting all the 5-star support in my acc without a single dps lol, so seeing himeko is kinda painfull😅)
Himeko can be a much better DPS than most people give her credit for, her biggest weakness is when her and her team aren't the right match up to break the enemies. As far as struggling with single target, most bosses summon mobs as well.

I use natasha instead of seele and she has the speed boots while Asta has the atk% boots 4piece break effect set, dance dance S1 & no E.R. but a break effect rope.
This team with Destruction path on World 6 helped clear I & II much safely. Energy regen was no problem cause the enemies keep on hitting with that aoe ice attack and obviously Bronya.

So I have my Asta (E6), Light Cpne: Carve the Moon, Weave the Clouds (S2), now relic wise this game hates me so i guess my rng got be bad somewhere. Not sure which relic to go for, was planning on farming the fire set, but after this video not sure which set to go for as they all sound good out of the Light cone this one is the only one I got so set suggestion would be nice I have SW and Seele(E2), F2P here, saving all my pulls for Kafka I do have Gepard and Clara as my other 5 Star's trying do do MoC. From my guess yes just like how Fu Xuan crit rate boost activated that planet set(required CRIT of 50 and the other 70 ) , ASTA speed boost would most likely work
