    Alexis Arguello could have fought an easier opponentand would have become the first fighter in history to win 4 titles, but being that he was no cherry picker, he decided to fight the hardest opponent at the time which was Pryor. He had the balls to fight Aaron where others ducked him, that alone gives him a lot of credit of being an ATG.

    Aaron Pryor after ALL the drama, after ALL the drugs, lost one fight in his whole career. And it was towards the end of his career. He had no one "looking out" for his interest and would fight absolutely anyone if they had the guts to get in the ring. Mayweather is great and I give him all respect but if those two men met in their prime, Pryor would've knocked him out no doubt in my mind.

      @Channel144 Everybody remembers his chin and pace but he gets no credit for his unique, never duplicated style which was based on pure boxing fundamentals. Movement in 3 dimensions, often at the same time, dispensed with defense because his movement was his defense. Why he never got caught flush. I don't rate The Hawk as the greatest because he's in a class all by himself.

And more importantly Leonard was signed and ready to fight Roger Stafford when his detached retina was discovered in April 1982 then his ridiculous overblown retirement announcement in November 1982.
      Lets be clear nobody knows who would have won for sure, I believe BOTH Leonard and Donald Curry would have beaten Pryor at 147 BUT Pryor would have undoubtedly annihilated any of the Mayweather family, anybody who doubts this please refer to how well Money dealt with the pressure of Jose Luis Castillo - who Pryor was a million times better than!

    Pryor and many other’s are correct about Floyd Jr. In the 70’s and 80’s era, even the early 90’s, Floyd would have a MINIMUM of 6 losses on his record!!!!
    He would have DEFINITALY gotten knocked out by Duran, Hearns, Ray Leonard, Terrible Terry Norris, and a couple of others!!!!
    Floyd just happen to come along in a era when fighter’s from 20-30 years just don’t exist!!!! Hell, Floyd fought Mosley and De La Hoya at the tail end of their careers. Fought a very drained Corrales!!!! And he ducked Winky Wright and Kostya Tszyu!!!! Floyd is real good, NOT great!!!! Huge difference!!!!

Aaron's only faults are too much headhunting and keeping that chin too high in a crouch. But Floyd isn't the puncher at 140 that Arguello was and never fought anyone quite like relentless, enduring and purposeful Aaron. You sure didn't want to languish on the ropes with this guy no matter how good Floyd is fighting off the ropes. I agree 100% that hearns would not only have been floyds toughes opponent but also he would have destroyed floyd.Hearns 6'1 frame & those extremely long arms would have given floyd huge problems, not only that I believe 100% he would have stopped floyd.A 5'9 39 year old mosely seriously hurt floyd with one right hand than hearns would have taken his head off. Most experts class hearns as p4p the hardest puncher of all time & I think he was aswell. He was also a good boxer & had fairly quick reflexes. Its very hard to defend against some one who towers over you than some one who is the same height or a couple inches taller. The reason i thought pryor would have beaten floyd is that he was so active & would have put floyd on the defence all night & you can not win a fight covering up all night.Pryor is not just an arm puncher he went into the fight against arguello with a record of 320030ko,hardly an arm puncher, not to mention the way he destroyed arguello in the 14th rd,one of the most brutal stoppages i have seen in boxing. You do not stop a great fighter like argello with arm punches.Maybe the next time you make a stupid comment like that again you should do a little research on the subject.

      Another thought, you said Pryors defence was atrocious, thats because he had a great chin,I mean if arguello could land clean right hands on this guy & walk right threw them, then it showed that he wasn't worried about being hit, only wanted to get to his opponent & destroy. If arguello couldn't stop him, than floyd would have had no chance.

      *****
      I do,I also know that pryor had faster hands & was quicker on his feet than Corrales. When he started to get hit more by the hard punching arguello he started to move more & box, thats called diversity. There are 2 boxers of the 8 0s that I am positive that would have beaten floyd & they were Hearns & pryor.I think Leonard would have won a close decision over floyd but could have gone etheir way.The differnce between the 80s boxers & todays,is that the 80s boxers all fought each other & thats what made them great & why all have losses on their records.Floyds one big fight was delayed & delayed because he wanted manny to slow down & he got his way.Floyd might have you fooled not this boxing man.Everyone thought tyson was the greatest hw all time until he started to fight top quality opponents & then we found out in the end that he was a bum.

    • @carrotteeman4008
      @carrotteeman4008 9 лет назад

      *****
      It wouldn't even be a fight between a prime floyd & a prime hearns.Hearns was as big as ww get & would have simply been to big & strong for floyd to contend with,Hearns left hook was under rated he had power in that punch as well & he also had a great jab which can throw defence off.Pryor was 5'6.You can not win a fight on defence alone & pryors aggression would have put floyd in a defensive shell all night.

    They dont make fighters like Pryor anymore. I saw that man take punches that wouldve felled a horse, and he just took them and smiled. Hard HARD motherfucker...with incredible stamina and chin. He wasnt a one punch KO artist but he would unload 8/10 punch combinations and just destroy your will and beat the fight out of you. What he did to Arguello was insane. The punches he took in that fight were inhuman. I thought his head came off from one of them and he just winked at Arguello and kept coming. One of my favorite fighters and I dont blame Leonard for ducking him, no question he was terrified of Leonard. He beat Hearns in the amatuers too. Little guy but an absolute nightmare of a fighter. I have no idea if Mayweather could handle that type of pressure. Aaron would have certainly walked through Floyd's punches. Mayweather would be on his boke the whole fight. Its a shame he never got the recognition he deserved. Rest well Hawk.

    Your point about Mayweather not having ever faced anyone as relentless as Pryor is false. I guess Maidana, Manny and Castillo weren't comparable? Pryor was reckless also which is why he was knocked down so many times. What fighter did he ever face have anywhere near the talent as Floyd? I'll wait.

    • @nycinstyle

      Pryor beat Cervantes and Arguello knocking them both out. Floyd P4P is better than Aaron Pryor, but Floyd at his best is 130lbs. jr. lightweight; Pryor 140lbs. jr welterweight. The non stop Henry Armstrong style and the naturally 10 pound heavier Pryor would edge out Floyd over 15 rds. being stronger throwing more punches particularly in the championhip rds. 11 - 15, IMO. The best way to plan to beat Floyd is work on staying inside throwing alotof punches like castillo did when he fought floyd. That is Pryor's natural style of fighting. The naturally heavier Pryor edegs out Floyd being busier throwing more punche, IMO.
