He had an incredible reach and when he snapped the right arm it was like a cobra just striking he was fucking fast and punched hard, the way he knocked out duran was terrifying
I have to say that I was completely impressed and moved with this clip! What respect and love around the room here! Legends respecting each other in the presence of a moment in time here on stage... that packed the hardest punch!
Gotta realize these guys shed blood sweat and tears together. Put their lives on the line in that ring. These rivalries are real and they each took pieces of each other's lives that they'll never get back. Much Respect and Love to all these guys.
THERE WILL NEVER BE A DECADE LIKE THE 80'S IN BOXING . The 90's was awesome too. So was the 70's . But, after the 90's, boxing has never been the same .

In this gangly, awkward man, Tommy Hearns, who looked more like a basketball player than a fighter, many hardened boxing fans were moved by his belief in himself against all odds and expressed more, well, love for this fighter than they did toward most of the ones who beat him. It is a tribute to Hearns's greatness that over his long and successful career he was so single-minded about beating the best of the best, he combined his iron will with a brutal training regimen and as a result reigned supreme in six weight divisions. And this at a time when some of the 20th century's best fighters were in their prime. How great was Tommy Hearns? Probably no other fighter of his generation could have: (1) knocked out Roberto Duran in two rounds; (2) boxed Sugar Ray Leonard to a draw; and (3) gone toe to toe with Marvelous Marvin Hagler. Any one of those encounters would have made him memorable; all three made him legendary. But what impresses me most about Tommy Hearns was how he overcame his animosity towards Leonard (due to Ray's unheard-of purses, good looks and cheerful manner, and his being praised as the better of the two.
At this point in my life at 58. I don't care who won any of those 70s and 80s welterweight and middleweight fights. When it becomes a matter of pride over who won, it is no longer a sport. If they both just realized how amazing they boxed and what incredible skills they had and the absolute Joy they gave, they would trade in their belts for a better prize in heaven any day of the week. Either one could have won on any given day. Boxing as in all sports is a bit of hype, a bit of comedy and a lot of love. There could always be more. We can all have our favorites, but God has none. John 3:16
They are probably both afraid to admit that there was a bit of foul play in boxing. They probably would not be happy to wake up and realized who handed them all that money. Even Ali never really properly addressed that issue on camera. It started to stink at a certain point and now it has become full blown.
I hate to hear ex fighters when they sound punch drunk. Tommy is my man. We grew around the same time in the same city, but it hurts just hear him. God bless you Tommy.
Cool. There was always a bit of a slowness to his speech. I think he was just a bit camera shy and not as comfortable as Ray with the showmanship outside the ring. But in the ring man to me he was the greatest showman of all time hands down. Hey, I guess that was a bit before eminem eh?
Lol every time Hitman and Sugar are together you got to step between them cause they are always ready to brawl lol. At the same time I know they love each other. Respect to all three of these Legends.
Big up to our man RJJ P4P up there as among the finest to ever do it, humbled to have met the man in Vegas June 98 and been in the presence of such Boxing greatness, much love from UK
Damn, I loved that era of the Fab Four. Lots of memorable classics with them and others of that era. Every few weeks, there was always a good title (or even top 10) fight on free TV. No such thing anymore.
What more can Hearns ask for, after Ray has admitted that He won the second fight. And, at this point in their lives Ray do not see Hearns as a rivalry or an enemy, but more as a friend and brother. As for Roy, he's the little brother that stepping in between two older brothers, before it get out of hand. I admire and respect Roy for doing so. With that said, we just watched three Great Legends.
I think Hearns still has a little bit of animosity because he thinks Leonard should have given him a rematch immediately or soon afterwards. Leonard demanded that Hearns swallow his dignity and say that the fight wasn't stopped too soon. Until Hearns did Leonard wouldn't grant him the fight. I guess hearing Leonard talk about how he beat his butt, which he did the first time around and with a good stoppage in my opinion, I guess was too much for him. The animosity will always be there.
I was a Sugar ray Leonard fan and I guess that's what made me to that Thonas Hearns to lose in his other fights against Hagler, Duran etc. But I knew that the Detroit hitman could dish out punishment. But over the years I've grown to admire and respect the man. Thomas Hearns, Sugar ray Leonard, Marvelous Marvin Hagler and Duran ruled the welterweight/ middleweight divisions in the 80's. We were blessed to have watched them live in our life times. May God continue to bless them and give eternal rest to the Marvelous one.
I think tommy was drunk there but whatever, it was an event.... Ray gave him a compliment saying he won the second fight, which he did, and tommy didn't get it. Good job by Roy to step in and class it up. Three of the great ones. My favorite was tommy and big george and Lennox for the heavies.
Roy didn’t step in to class it up. Roy in my opinion made a fool out of himself. Tommy knew what Ray was doing which was giving him a compliment and opining Tommy won the rematch but Tommy wanted to have some fun with it and with an old rival. It didn’t escape Tommy. Ray knew it to, Ray was on board. They wanted to give the fans and press alittle show. Here comes the CLOWN Roy Jones Jr. acting like he’s gonna difuse a situation only to passive aggressively plug his own claim as being better than both Ray and Tommy because deep down he feels he’s inferior and of course....he is. Hence, he said the reporter wanted him to say him but he said without these two there’d be no me. No jackass the reporter wanted you to say Ray or Tommy. Roy passive aggressively in so many words implicated that he was slightly evolved from Tommy and Ray. Otherwise his statement wouldn’t make any sense. He broke up two REAL legends having a good ol time. Roy Jones, FUCK YOU. You’re an embarrassment
Btw way the only drunk Tommy was is punch more than anything. It happens to old school fighters. No worries it’ll soon be a thing of the past, boxers don’t fight anymore. They still get hit a lot because they suck but they don’t fight. Well, twice a year maybe
Marc Hansen ,don't forget that Roy Jones also moved up and won the heavyweight title and in his prime nobody could beat him at middle weight .he beat James Tony and Bernard Hopkins when they were in there primes and we know neither one of them was no joke.
Roy was a gentleman for stepping in between those guys
