Except for traffic cameras at traffic lights, most other cameras are used to maintain public safety. They have two main functions: first, to warn people not to try to break the law, and second, to quickly check the surveillance and catch criminals when illegal activities occur. If there is no criminal activity, the surveillance camera will not be monitored.

It is a tradition to charge for guest seat labeled as "seat for tea". Basicly a symbolic fee for utensils. They also use the so called tea (hot water) to rinse they chopsticks and spoons, etc. as a tradition even though it is well cleaned. I guess historically, people rinse their utensils in this region... So, the big jar of tea may be for the rinse....

Depends on the type of restaurants, it is standard they bring you tea for having meals even if you don't want it, it is part of the culture. They bring it to you as soon you sit down, but you can always ask for something else to drink for a fee of course.
Tea often comes with a very small fee when they bring you a jug like that and often can be refill.
Is interesting to see this because it comes natural to the Chinese we never thought about it. Also know that China has no tipping culture, you pay for what you ordered, no need for tips.

Most cities in China have shared power bank machines that can be seen everywhere, which can be charged without worrying about running out of power. Many Chinese young people have tattoos. I don’t think people will stare at you because you have tattoos. Maybe it‘s only because you are a foreigner. Those stare are not unfriendly but pure curiosity.

It looks like they order takeaways just so often. We work hard in Australia but just no way to afford takeaways. It's even hard to pay rent and electricity here. I make a decent salary, but most importantly I'm able to save 50% of it. This includes shopping, takeaway, restaurants, etc. Also a lot times, using takeaway apps is cheaper than going to the restaurant because of discounts and coupons on it.

True!! But also cuz they haven’t seen many foreign visitors. The Visa regulations have changed and it’s easier (and MUCH CHEAPER) for foreign people to visit. Before, I had to pay 130USD for a simple Chinese visa to enter the country. This is very expensive, looking at other Asian countries that do not charge anything for a visa. So many tourists only went to the major tourist places. Now that the visa price has been lifted, tourists (like myself) are able to visit the smaller and less-known cities and explore the REAL China 🇨🇳🙏🏼🤩🤍

Shenzhen has a population of 18 million and an area of 2000 square kilometers. This is a very big city. All major cities in China occupy a large area. Regarding cameras, cameras are used in China to prevent crime and collect evidence of crimes. As long as there is no criminal intent, there is no need to worry too much. As for the police, in fact 80% are not police officers, but more security guards. They may be employed by companies or governments. In some places with a large amount of people or traffic, such as some scenic spots or road intersections, it is easier to see security guards. The uniforms and equipment of the police will be more formal, and they will only be responsible for criminal cases. Security guards are not allowed to carry firearms, and police officers are generally not allowed to carry firearms, except for a very small number of police officers responsible for dangerous tasks (such as anti-narcotics police).

The whole camera thing is just distortion from the western media. Just imagine how much human power could possibly involve in monitoring every footage in real time. Even with AI, the amount of computing power to recognize every single ppl and track their whereabouts is unachievable currently ( aren’t the computing power and electricity the problem here in the U.S. ? ) Lots of “journalists” might just watch too much SI-FI.🤷🏻‍♂️ They use the camera the same way as in the West. I am not blaming you point that out, and I know where you are coming from. it just gets annoying seeing the “surveillance state” narrative become how westerns perceive China nowadays.
