have had more lug nut covers fall off or fly off right after tire jobs. i started walking around and tapping with rubber hammer after having some tire work.
An option when forced to launch your drone in a dusty lot, place it on the hood of the truck, should prevent dust rising and should easily give you enough surface area for the initial lift off. Really excited to see you got one! Best of luck with your videos in the future
It's really nice you support the family businesses. They really took the pandemic hit. A lot of big companies(including oil)are charging more just because they can. My business has taken a hit too. It's hard to have to pass it on to the customers just to break even. Thanks for another awesome ride. Safe travels, and God bless.
Enjoyed 'riding along' with you. You provide a very relaxing atmosphere. So many videos are hectic, even too stressful to enjoy. All the best in the future.
Kurt, one of the first things I did when we bought our Renegade motorhome was to pull all those lugnut covers and throw them in a box in the garage. About a month later I had a tire shop pull the rear tires so I could take the center covers off that cover up the axle ends.
With winter coming, have you thought about installing a diesel fueled bunk heater? All of us Canuck drivers have them and they work great. For about 1 gallon of fuel, they'll roast you out of the sleeper for 10 hrs. A lot cheaper than idling the truck. Webasto or Espar cost less than $1500.
Been hauling gas for 20 years. By law we can not put water in the tanks and stores can not put water in there tanks. We have to show when we make a delivery that there is no water in the tanks when we start amd stop. Idk where people get thats there is water in the tanks. I wish people would quit spread stuff like that coz it makes us gas haulers look bad and people think we r the ones to put water in the tanks. Its thousands of dollars fine if we get caught. I put fuel in for 3.89 at the coffee cup in vermillion today. Love the videos
Hello!!!! Im currently in New Paris ohio!!! At the petro!!! Gona make it to oakboro north clackalacky tomorrow..and yes I will be going around the west Virginia turn pike for my frist time!!! I hear it's awesome 👌
O-H-I-O Porter greetings 🇺🇸 Fuel around Ohio is around 4:30-4:65. I don’t always relate lower fuel prices to watered down diesel. LOL. I’ve gotten watered fuel from Speedway before. From what I’ve seen on tires lately, yeah, they’re much higher $$$. That’s a shame. I guess because of the trucker shortage they have to jack prices up. It’s good that you got your lug nut cover back. Did you go around the front end & double check them after your tires were replaced? Hope you have a couple extras at home. That trailer spacing was not good at all! I would’ve done the same thing…air it up, pull out & then raise the Dollie’s. They must’ve been in a rush when they dropped the trailer off. Love those shiny hinges?! That’s good for a 2018 model! I’ve been working on my S1900 IH brake problems, so I’ve been a bit behind. Trying to get it rolling again. Much to do yet. Blessings my friend & I hope you have a safe trip back home. 🥰🤩✌️
Tires don't need to be rotated or it shouldn't be necessary to do this. You only rotate tires because you have some other issue that you are not going to deal with so rotating the tires around makes them last longer to compensate for said issues. If I had to guess either you have an alignment issue, specifically with the camber. Or the other issue if it isn't alignment is you have bushings worn out and the third is tire pressure being too low. I am going to go with low tire pressure due to the split on the sidewall as that is from low tire pressure and with the tire being too low, the edge of the rim caused that split from the weight and due to the tire not having enough air allowed that portion of the sidewall to meet with the rim edge as you are driving and eventually you will get a split along that area. The type of tire you had the ideal psi for it is 110 psi. I am a tire tech for a fleet. Also your tire was not that old, typically steers won't be super old like drives can be and this is mostly thanks to the DOT rules that steers can't be retreads or recaps as they are referred so the only way you could get an old steer is if it was still good and was just sitting around and you wanted a used steer put on instead of a new one, but at most you are looking at a couple years old, where as drives can be old as 10 or so years as they are allowed to be retreaded as long as it is still in good condition to be retreaded.
Good Video Kurt, hey since you are gonna be driving this winter, more than last year, have you ever thought about getting a green APU? It would help a lot on keeping the motor warm and you and Opie. Have a good one and stay safe.
Great Video Kurt, I have a idea for launching the drone in dusty situations, launch it off the hood of the truck or the deck plate. Thanks for all you do in keeping America moving. Fair winds and Safe travels.
Kurt I wish I knew what the deal was on fuel prices because like here in Central Illinois they pull out of the heyworth bulk terminal for all the stations and all priced different. We were on the spoon river drive Saturday and coming home a little station on rt 136 had gas for 3.30 a gal about 50cents a gal cheaper than all the other stations we passed.🇺🇸👍
Where I live in MN gas was $3.69 a gallon. The next town to the south of me was $3.22 a gallon. Like you, I don't understand how the price per gallon can vary that much just 10 miles away.
Love watching your videos!! Btw anyone ever tell you you sound like Garfield, I swear you have the same voice and could be the new Garfield voice over 😄
When ever you replace the steering tires, then it is time to also replace the front shocks. Not many people do the shocks and then the tire wear starts again. Is Alice coming to Iowa to haul for Tyson like you do? just wondering.....2 things on fuel prices. One is the state tax rate where you are, and the second thing is if the fuel is old, then it becomes a dark brown color. To find the raw cost of fuel, take the discounted pump price minus the state tax rate. That is the raw cost of fuel. You pay the tax rate when you burn the fuel, not when you buy it. The low price of fuel in Oklahoma increases when you burn it in Kansas. Find the raw cost of fuel and purchase accordingly. Does Iowa have a Motor Carrier Direct Pay Tax? That is where you take the percentage of miles driven in Iowa, say 25% and you purchase supplies etc tax free, and then only pay 25% of the state tax in a quarterly return instead of 100% at the time of purchase.
Well Good evening Kurt, I hope all is well and that you get back home safe thanks for 2videos today i enjoyed both of them.I believe the further the tanker has to deliver the fuel is why i think it is higher in some places than others or could be the way the customer orders it but i know when I get fuel here in Oklahoma it last longer than if I fill up inTexas,Kansas, Missouri, or other states not sure.but you be careful and stay safe out on the road and highway
Kurt you are making every penny count, so once again your magic 8 ball let you down. Well welcome to the club, tires like everything else its luck and nothing else in my opinion. Every time I think about your mom picking you up i crack up . Stay safe
I ended up getting a pair of them jokohamas.back in 2021 because nothing else was available…one of them did the exact same thing and had 14/32 of tread left…. Junk!!! The tire shop wouldn’t do anything to help me out…..so now I won’t deal with Yokohamas or that tire shop anymore
here is an idea. take one of those key chains i sent ya and remove the QR code and copy it. then put it in the corner of your videos so people can scan it with their phone when they watch on their TV's. Just a thought.
I’m certainly concerned that you drive an 80K truck down the highway without a seatbelt to keep you in place if something went haywire. Just an opinion the funny thing I watch other professional drivers on Sunday get in their cars and the first thing they do is strap into their car.
He cost of fuel varies from buisness to buisiness because its up to the said place as to how much they charge extra but over here you actually make more on products sold instore than at the pump
Here in New Jersey we have what they call zone pricing. The affluent neighborhoods have a higher price on gasoline cuz they can afford it and the other neighborhoods that are not as well off the gas is cheaper. I delivered gas 30 years ago for Exxon.
Hey SCHIMDT. As the old people would say. It could've been a different side to this video. You have taken care of your daughter 🛻. Been to Bud games. Making sure parents are okay. Making sure the wife is safe. 🐕🦺 Have all his 💉. And it could've 💥. God keeps his 👁️👁️ on people like us to. Safe Travels SCHIMDT 🐕🦺. 🚛💨💨💨💨
Just putting this out there, make sure when you fly that drone you need a license to fly in that area. You will be fined if you get caught not having a license. Just saying!!
October is when my company switches drive tires from "runouts" to new or nearly-new winter tires. The set of runouts I had this summer were terrible...they were "winter tires" but a couple of years old. A tobacco-chewers spit on the road would cause a hydroplane incident.

Just checked in Far North Queensland Australia our diesel price is approximately $5.69 gal USD. We are going down a bit.
Fuel prices are crazy. Washington State 6.00 a gallon. Idaho 5.00 a gallon diesel. All I can say is be grateful you're seeing lower.
It's really nice you support the family businesses. They really took the pandemic hit. A lot of big companies(including oil)are charging more just because they can. My business has taken a hit too. I hear ya Heather
Set the drone on your hood if your in dirt.
Enjoyed 'riding along' with you. You provide a very relaxing atmosphere. So many videos are hectic, even too stressful to enjoy. All the best in the future.

Yep the truck stops are price gouging
Hello Kurt and Opie. Kurt could you have maybe set the drone on your hood and taken off from there? I don't know myself. Never flown one before.
Yes.
I agree I have a espar and I love it
That was a lucky catch on the steering tire, I've had one blow out before it scared really good and have a safe trip God bless from GA stay safe
Yep.. blow a steer tire for a sphincter-tightening event.

It just might have been my imagination but I thought your truck road smoother with new steers on her.
Hello there Mr Kurt & Opie!!!!!!! Safe Travels out there!!!! Glad U had steers replaced.😎🔊🔊🔊🔊🔊🔊🙏🏽🇺🇸💰💰💰💰💰👍🏾🙌🏾
diff state taxes , sometimes diff county taxes , hell sometimes diff city taxes . plus other reasons , supply and demand-distance etc etc etc
Kurt... U DID wait until winter to get tires... October in minnesota and iowa is winter!
Over $5 a gallon for diesel in Henderson Nevada, mid October. I paid $5.01 for premium yesterday.
Hi Opie.
Hey Schmidt how’s warden doing with the principal job now?🎉
I run Firestone FS591 steers, I think they were around $1,200 for both in April when I bought them, I mounted and balanced them myself
Firestone=suicidal
Lot of folks around me like the FS591 tires.
Great video. You and Opie stay safe.
Safe truckin Kurt and Opie! 👍🚛🙏🏻
Thanks for the ride, Be safe... Give Opie a Hug for me..

RTV them covers on, some on the threads or on the flats, a little dab will do ya fine.
I think I saw you yesterday between Sioux City and Lawton, you were heading east and I was heading towards home(Sioux City)
Good Video Kurt, hey since you are gonna be driving this winter, more than last year, have you ever thought about getting a green APU? It would help a lot on keeping the motor warm and you and Opie. Have a good one and stay safe.
Enjoying traveling with you!
NASTC stands for National Association of Small Trucking Companies based in Tennessee I believe has a really good fuel discount program as well
I ordered a set rear tractor tires yesterday, 1350 per tire plus i need new tubes
When I got to Caifornia, I would change fuel filters, and a new Doneldson air filter. Just to climb out of the state. But I rab a 310,hp. 3406 b
Safe driving
Great Video Kurt, I have a idea for launching the drone in dusty situations, launch it off the hood of the truck or the deck plate.
Thanks for all you do in keeping America moving. Fair winds and Safe travels.
Nice to see you keeping it local🎉😊
Definitely turning into a professional videographer in your spare time!!!
launch your drone off your hood. less dust lol

get a drone landing pad😮
Fuel prices go by the different counties of a state The higher the tax in that county the more you pay that's what I have always heard
Nice vid! Don't know how advanced you are with the drone, but if you don't have a nice area to take off and land, try the ole hood.
Not advanced at all lol
Schmidt, 1st off I enjoy your videos. 2nd I love your W900, what year is it?
You put them on in 2020 what year were they made should have that on the side wall
Opie reminded me of Linus from Peanuts holding on to his bankie What a GOOD BOY !!!
Hey Kurt and Opie ❤
Where I live in MN gas was $3.69 a gallon. The next town to the south of me was $3.22 a gallon. Like you, I don't understand how the price per gallon can vary that much just 10 miles away.

Capt Kurt.....Scotty give more Power.....wait I mean Tires!!!🚛👍, good work Capt Kurt.
I’m in Az, fuel is expensive out here. 4.58 a gallon is the cheapest
Tyres are not cheap now truck is running smoothly still keep on trucking there
Well Good evening Kurt, I hope all is well and that you get back home safe thanks for 2videos today i enjoyed both of them.I believe the further the tanker has to deliver the fuel is why i think it is higher in some places than others or could be the way the customer orders it but i know when I get fuel here in Oklahoma it last longer than if I fill up inTexas,Kansas, Missouri, or other states not sure.but you be careful and stay safe out on the road and highway

Last time I was in Cherokee there was a huge wreck at that intersection behind you. Never really understood why.
The cheapest fuel I have bought recently was in Virginia.
Believe it or not try sapp bros Petro,or T/A for lug covers
Great as always Kurt, just one thing camera’s been real shaky these last couple of videos
Maybe image stabilisation got turned off?
Lots of love
Yup, it gets bumped sometimes and I don't catch it.
Some guys use a dab of RTV on the inside of their lug nut covers.❤
So, fly the drone from the hood of the truck.
That’s not a problem you shouldn’t wait on
Nothing like the feel of new steer tires What brand you use?.
Anything but Yokohama!!!!
Lol. Yokohama.
Iowa 80 on I-70 oak grove
Just paid over 1200 for suv tires. 😢
Kurt, just curious if there is any significance to the little lava light on your CB. Inquiring minds want to know 😉
The wife got it for me when she rode with me last. It's been a few years now
I like it when you do your Opie voice.
it's 6:30 pm here and its 49 degrees F here. i'm so not ready for winter
I'll be needing 6 tires for my Ram 1 ton. DREADING that. Will be close to $1400.00.
Build back better??
Kurt have you thought about getting one of those discount fuel cards Like mud flap Just A thought
here is an idea. take one of those key chains i sent ya and remove the QR code and copy it. then put it in the corner of your videos so people can scan it with their phone when they watch on their TV's. Just a thought.
That is a good idea
3 year old tires are not too old
Auburn NE looks like Cherokee downtown.
Trucker tip, Find a cigarette butt and wedge it with the lug nut and lug nut cap it won’t fall off anymore.
Cigarette butt never heard of that one I used to wrap duct tape 1 time around all the lugs then tap with rudder mallet!!
And the goverment gets over 60percent in fuel tax over here
How do you feel about Elons semi truck
Well I paid 450.00 a tire for Bridgstones , that was 1997×10, go figure.
Here in New Jersey we have what they call zone pricing. The affluent neighborhoods have a higher price on gasoline cuz they can afford it and the other neighborhoods that are not as well off the gas is cheaper. I delivered gas 30 years ago for Exxon.
Ever use balance beads?
I do on the drive
Never seen a tire fail on the sidewall because of age or wear.
I have quite a few times.. most recently with my shop truck. Blew the sidewall out sitting in the parking lot
I had a Yokohama do the same thing in 2022… first time I’ve seen it happen in 35 years
do you take 29 all the way down???? is 29 open through omaha.... i go to tx 29 down to neb city,,,toepica 35 to denten over 281 down to donna tx....
I-29 is all open through Council Bluffs
Yup it's open. I take it to exit 10

Thank you
How many miles did you have on the steers?
221,000
Let’s hear them Jake brakes every once in awhile
Kurt is too fluffy for that trailer width! Well you did say it first 🙃
Lol
3.99 qt Des Moines off 80/35
Just putting this out there, make sure when you fly that drone you need a license to fly in that area. You will be fined if you get caught not having a license. Just saying!!
Which drone did you get ?
It's a V11
that is a ouch
No way that should happen to a 3 year old tire. I’d contact the mfg and see what they say.
There has been quite a few tire recalls lately, the layers separated...😮
Looks like trailer brakes are worn. Mechanic always looking at that crap.
Good news is I think we will see gas $$ drop more over the weeks ahead.
Prices falling here in Tennessee. But Mideast war will change that.
October is when my company switches drive tires from "runouts" to new or nearly-new winter tires.
The set of runouts I had this summer were terrible...they were "winter tires" but a couple of years old. A tobacco-chewers spit on the road would cause a hydroplane incident.
Hi
Hello Connie
River wear. It looks like a river carving a trough around the tire. Goodyear's are known for it. Also the sidewall cracking. Long wheelbase trucks plow too much on the sharp turns.
Yee haw. On a steer.
I noticed you cut your ear hair. You look much nicer. Next up, the eyebrows. Hashtag: "Things we do to avoid looking like an old man." 😁
PS: I assume you are about 38-41 years old?
It's getting brutal. Hair is coming from every where except the top of my head lol.
