Liked and Subscribed. If you do a reaction to Sinead O'Connor's song "The Foggy Dew", or any of the other songs I've asked for, I'll start sharing. BTW, I'd love a shout out. :D
If you think this version of the song is good you should hear Chris Cornell sing it! watch that one on RUclips and tell me it's not the best version you've ever heard!
I love that this version of this song hut you deep. This song hits me deep everytime I hear it. I wish I could hear songs like this for the first time over and over again. Thanks subbing because of your honest response
Гражданин СССР плакал скупой мужской слезой
Prince was born to write this song but Sinead was born to sing it!!
Chris Cornell’s version is great, but I agree with you on this. She pours herself into this song and it’s beautiful!
100% agree
Yep....great song
No prince kills this song way better
@@wubiothecockerspaniel6481 he does and I'm not being biased
She's the best singer of my generation, hands-down. Her mother passed away shortly before they filmed this video, and she has stated that she was thinking about her mother during the entire shoot, which is one reason that the emotion is so strong. The tears are real, etc. It's a shame what happened to her when she got up the courage to call out all of the sexual abuse that was happening in Irish churches. She was absolutely dragged through the mud and shredded for trying to be a voice for the voiceless.
Her "Buzzcut" is not just symbolic, but her stance that " No man shall throw me by my hair again." It just sucks that men haven't learned to listen.
Spot on and so well said
Didn't she also have a conflicted relationship with her mother. I think I read that somewhere.
It is so sad, because she was right and just to call out the abuse, as we all know now.
In fact, Sinéad's mother died in 1985, before she even released her debut album, The Lion and the cobra. Nothing Compares 2 U is from her second album, I do not want what I havent got, released in 1990, so it wasn't "shortly before they filmed this video". This song actually always reminded Sinéad of her mother and their rocky and unstable relationship. There are dozens of interviews in which Sinéad talks about her mom, and it's really heartbreaking to listen her story. And I do agree that the "business industry" really wrecked her career after she spoke out about the church and child abuse. But I think we should give props to her because she has continued releasing new music ever since. She never really stopped working, and maybe this year we'll have some new material.
RIP beautiful, soulful, Sinade…no more pain my love.
Her face captivates you and you can't turn away.
She was also suffering a mental breakdown at the time and she shaved her head, which added to the sadness of the song.
She was beautiful back then and that song captivating.
Not for a second 🤣
She had such a horrible life as a kid- so much abuse. She struggles with a lot. Thank you Empress for your beautiful reaction. You see a lot of truth...you have a gift.

@@girlsdrinkfeck crazy cult? She became a muslim. Nothing weird about that. There's billions of us. And still horrible people like you who discriminate
@@girlsdrinkfeck dont be islamophobic
@@aidanmccauley3776 why
This song may have not been written by her, but she definitely defines it. There's a reason Prince gave it to her. So, in my mind, this is no cover, this is the original.
The definitive version.
I totally agree. This is ‘her song’ she made it hers.
It’s a cover.
A great fucking cover.
@@allen7086 well prince himself basically passed it on to her so
Nope...it cannot be the original dude but it is a powerful version of the original. You cannot take it away from Prince it belongs to him. He hammered that song out not her.
It's funny how you hear a song over and over again as a kid and you grow up to hate it because of overplay. Then as an adult you really listen and hear the words and the song takes on a new meaning with more appreciation. Great reaction
@@jalopy2662 Absolutely. I used to have disdain for some songs just because of repetition. The radio has a history of destroying good songs or artists by overplaying their songs to the point of nauseum. Once the song is out of rotation and then it randomly plays one day it is amazing how nostalgia connects with the lyrics in order for you to view it in a new perspective.
@@jalopy2662 Same to you, brother. ✌
Yes, like time after time, Cindy lauper
I always loved this song...yeah they overplayed the hell outta it and I was here for it lol. I was a kid though when it came out and you're right, as and adult it takes on new meaning
Wow, my exact thoughts as I scrolled down to the comments. Upvote for you sir!
Sinead has the best version. She sings her soul out.
check version of little jimmy scott it will captivate you
Sinead did it best, hands down.
But.....the Chris Cornell version is damn close.
Especially knowing he would end his life very soon after. Fucking sad....
But sineads tears are real
@@stefbaeyens3163 I don't care Sinead owns this song with the lilt in her voice and the pain. In MY OPINION no one can touch this song but Sinead
I don't know
I mean Chris Cornell did this song completely different ,and made his also
IMO
Sinead is gone now - but her Heart & Soul will live forever through her music - RIP Sinead...!
Condolences to al those who knew her and loved her - from County Donegal.....!
I listen to rock extreme metal but this woman blows me away everytime I hear her voice. She's the only female singer who's voice has made me cry......best female singer ever in my opinion.
She and Amy Lee both bring tears to my eyes.
and in mine. Her voice is unique and her singing is the best hands down
GOD BLESS SINEAD O CONNER .......SHE STOOD UP TO THE VATICAN AND GOT BLACKBALLEDD......VOICE OF A GENERATION :)
She was too ahead of the times but she was right the entire time.
She is a champion for women!
I remember seeing it on TV.
Yes she really championed women's rights by converting to Islam ...
She will alway be known for this song. She owns it. RIP
Every time I hear this song I cry.
R.I.P
This is the definitive version. It’s as powerful now as it was then. No one has ever sung a song like this. And I mean never.
James Blunt song Monsters is up there
How many times have we all cried to this song over the decades?!
I am 58 years old and this song still tears me apart . Sinead , thank you
Prince wrote it...Sinead made it iconic. Her voice was perfect.
This song breaks my heart everytime...leaving me breathless
Nobody can do this song better than what she did. She was full emotion
The Late Great Prince wrote the timeless track, but Sinead made it her own. 💯💯💯
And Prince himself even made that statement.
Yes and Prince has his own version as well, they're all great!
They are two artists that I truly regret not seeing perform live in person.
This performance was a gift. I treasure it.
I'm shocked SINEAD PASSED AWAY TODAY!! RIP DEAR ONE..WE THE WORLD LOVED YOU..WE HURT TOO!!!
SINEADS VOICE UNIQUE ONE HELL OF A TALENT
I was in my 20s when this song came out and feel madly in love with it. No one has ever come close to singing this song like she dose. This is my all time favourite song. I'm a big AC DC fan there my no1 band. But how could you not love this .Not even Prince gave it justice but. I'm glad he wrote.
Sinead is angelic, can't watch this song without tears. Listen to her sing The Foggy dew, just as beautiful.
yes angelic, that is why she ripped up a photo of the pope on a US talk show
@@NoahJJCoolClips Yes, to criticize the Catholic Church for covering up the abuse of numerous children, over decades, by priests. SHE WAS DEFENDING INNOCENT CHILDREN. She got hate for it, because people shot the messenger and weren’t willing to hear the truth. But decades later, the church admitted it! SHE WAS RIGHT ALL ALONG. God bless her, she was a true gem. May she RIP 💙🕊
She be sorely missed. She suffered so much in life. She can rest easy with the angels. 💔
RIP Sinéad O'Connor. A troubled soul with the most beautiful haunting voice.
This Angel chased after the Truth and the Truth found her Instead, she warnd the world about the abuse of children by the Church and the world called her Crazy and destroyed her career until a few years later when she was proven to be 100 % correct, May Allah grant you Paradis beautiful Soal 🎉
This song will forever be Sinead O Conors imo, the emotions portrayed through her singing is simply untouchable 👏👏❤️
I'm an52 years old man, and I cry every time i hear she singing this song.
Her voice touch souls!
her voice makes me cry. She is the only one that does that
I was a teeneager when this came out and im sure i wasnt the only person who fell in love with this woman when this video was released, outrageously beautiful, voice of an angel and she did it all her way the way she wanted to !! Hugely misunderstood and shockingly abandoned by most of her peers ....tormented soul from birth to death .so sad 😢
Lovely comment. So sad that her abuse mother messed her up she never really recovered. Finally you can RIP Sinead.
So emotional and beautiful.
Sweet angel with a heavenly voice 💘
Sinead made this song a world wide Hit no one can match her version not even prince
100% agree James Hanley
It's the best cover by far
Pls stfu
@@tommohughes7134 Was it a cover? Prince wrote it, but she released it first! Prince didn't release it till many years later!
She OWNS it. The details are in the footnotes.
She had just lost her mother whom she had been horribly abused by as a child and the pain is evident!
Yes in car accident
it's yearning for a mother you never had...
The lines
"All the flowers that you planted mama
In the back yard
All died when you went away
I know that living with you baby was sometimes hard
But I'm willing to give it another try"
Are the lyrics that made her cry during the filming of this song too. She put so much emotion into this song and boy does it show
Seeing your face as you took all of this in -- it was like experiencing this song for the first time all over again. Thank you so much for your thoughtful and compassionate response to this work. Reactions to art are part of the art itself, and you made this artistic experience richer with yours.
Beautiful comment! 🙂
You'd have to have a heart of stone for Sinead singing this song not to move you to tears.x
She should have won an oscar for this performance imo:)
Perfect.
Not many songs are perfect.
This one is.
The singer. The voice. The lyrics. The emotion.
Perfect.
It's a rare moment that someone discovers Sinead and gets her, by the power of her voice and emotion. She's forever clouded by her voice outside of music and dubbed a one hit wonder. She's anything but those two stereotypes. She's a strong woman despite her struggles and forever a voice to be reckoned with. I can't convey the majestic calm I experience when hearing her sing.
Sinead is so good in this song.
She is an angel. They are among us. RIP SINEAD
If you don’t have a tear in your eye when you listen there’s something wrong with you ❤❤❤❤❤
She made that song famous!!! In 1990. Before that, it wasn’t a well known song. She said every time she sings it, she thinks of her mother (who passed away in a car crash in 1985) who abused her as a child. No matter how her mother treated her, she loves her and misses her so much. She ached for her mother’s love, and affection growing up. Her mother never showed her love, she beat the crap out of Sinead and her siblings. Most of Sinead’s songs, if not all, are very personal and emotional. She’s the most truthful and honest artist out there in the business. She’s my favorite singer, apart from Mercury. Screw those people who made her a pariah and completely chastised and ostracized her for telling the truth. Sinead, I will always love and support you!
You heard this exactly how it's meant to be heard. You can see in your face that she touched you with her desperation. I love this song.
R.I.P NOTHING COMPARES TO YOU SINEAD ❤❤ R.I.P WITH YOUR BABY BOY❤❤
yup living through the 80's was hard with these emotional soul ripping songs
People always put Sinead down. The fact is her voice and singing ability was vastly under rated, this track showed how great she could be.
Prince got it so right when he gave the song to Sinead
Youre one of the few people I've seen do a song review where you didnt stop and talk like ever 30 seconds, thank you for that
Yes!!! Thank you!! Many thumbs up for not interrupting the song
her life has been so difficult, and the voice of a true angel
Every time I listen to this song, my heart breaks. 💔Sinead was an amazing person and she was so misunderstood.⭐️Rest in peace, beautiful soul. 🕊️
Sinead's cover is simply the best. Some songs are just born for certain people.
Her mother had died in a car crash, she also suffers from BPD. Her son recently committed suicide. I love her and have seen her live many times. The power in that voice is unbelievable.
😢❤
And now she is together with her son and mother again😢
I'm so glad you got a chance to see this and celebrate the beauty of the way Sinead sings this song. Given how much Sinead bears her heart, its no surprise that you got the truth of her delivery and its a reminder of the awful paradox that great beauty is often created by artists who have a lot of pain and issues to resolve.
I was a fan of Sinead way back in time, and she even wrote a few decent numbers of her own, but with this song, she created a performance which stands the test of time and will be an ever lasting legacy.
It's tough listening to a beautiful woman sing a beautiful song and watching another beautiful woman cry. 😂
In the vid where she cry’s they kept the camera on her and left it in the video real tears her mother just died, that’s why she sings it in one take.
she is like an angel and you are a beautiful brown angel :)I was in tears hearing this again , I grew up hearing it n the radio, Sinead has a beautiful Irish voice many Irish are good at singing dancing and music
if anyone ever asks you to listen to this they just want to see you cry
She cut her hair off to bring awareness to something I now forgot. Look it up. Very interesting. She rocks because of that,
This Cover and Johnny Cash's cover of Hurt are the best Covers of all Time.
@GKeeper316 Nope...
Jeff Buckley's version of Hallelujah, The Animals version of The House of the Rising Sun and Eva Cassidy's Over The Rainbow are my favourite covers.
@GKeeper316 Just like Sound of Silence is Simon and Garfunkel, Bohemian Rhapsody is Queen. Don't touch the untouchables.
And if you still dare, do it creatively and not clumsily, like Disturbed.
Joe cocker ,with a little help from my friends is better than the Beatles version (in my humble opinion) ...even Paul McCartney was impressed with it 😊
High hopes....with Nightwish 🇸🇪
It was predictable that you would pick up on the pain that pours out of this song. Very powerful and emotive. Nice reaction, stay safe
This was one of the biggest hits of 1990.
"The Last Day Of Our Acquaintance", and "I Am Stretched On Your Grave" are two more beautiful Sinead O'Connor performances.
still brings tears to my eyes
such a heavenly voice
Coming out of London England, when she locks her eyes on you your mesmerised, she smashes through the screen and grabs your heart. a voice of golden glass. RIP SWEETHEART.
Nothing compares to this reaction.
I know it is a sad song but her voice is so mesmerizing.
Those are real tears, she had just lost her mother, and she is thinking of her.
I think she was abused by her mom.
@@suedarling9475 No. She actually chose to cover this song in honour of her mother who passed away a few years before singing it. She wast abused by her..
@@GABRAN47 She was, she's said so multiple times in interviews, she said she loved her in spite of the abuse because her mother suffered with mental health issues.
Yeah she was abused physically, psychologically and and sexually by her mother. She has given some interviews about it on Irish TV (RTÉ)
@@suedarling9475 You can be abused by someone, and still mourn their loss. 🥺
Wow you really understood all of her - the song and her performance is unlike any other. 💔
Rest in Peace Sinéad ❤️🇮🇪
I don't know if it has already been mentioned, but the reason she sings this so hauntedly/sad/filled with pain is because she dedicated it to her late mother, her mother was not the best, and therefor why the amount of pain you can feel
I saw her live in Minneapolis when this album was just out. It was an outdoor venue and most of the concert was a capella or close enough to it. She was amazing. One of my favorite concerts ever.
That tear is real... The part about the flowers dying was a tribute to her dead father...
Thank u 4 doing this song..... Thank S O 4 singing it.....
She DID own it. I agree
this the exact response to the song that should happen. this is what a tortured person blessed by god sounds like. she very much has that troubled genius thing.
Sineads producer nailed This
I'm 41. Its really nice watching young people discover all this beautiful music that was made decades ago
1989 my fiance and our new born daughter were both killed by a drunk driver and this song in a way sums up the pain of my entire 1990's
thank you Prince and Sinead
So sorry music can help thehealimg a tad God bless you
Much like Annie Lennox, Sinead brings a melancholy feel to a song very few do.
Sinead is legend
You are spot on! This is HER song! Nobody is famous from this song but her. PS I'm a huge Elvis fan! Xo
You girl are an empath I can tell.Your reaction was my reaction.I have lived 34 years of abuse took me almost dying to see it.I am breaking free soon.2 months in the hospital.Been out for a month now.My eyes are open finally.
Wow, I am so glad you are breaking free and that you have survived. I cannot imagine what you went through. You will be an inspiration to others.
Best of luck to you. Live free live strong!!!

A real heart breaker and so beautifully sang ..good to see a woman's reaction
This is a song, music and lyrics, performance that will live forever, as many as it touches.
One of the greatest performers of our time. Misunderstood, brilliant ...
Sinead turns her soul from the inside to out while singing this. You know she's feeling every bit of it because she's making you feel every bit of it. You can smell, taste and feel the pain and you're made to feel it in such a beautiful way ... she touches my soul every time I listen to it. I've never heard Chris Cornell's version and never will if I can help it. This one means too much to me.
I remember this on MTV back in the day. This came out in 1990 and my son was two.
When he saw it on tv he would just stand in front and stare...he was completely
mesmerized by it. Thanks for the great reaction!

Liked . Subscribed, IMMEDIATLEY. There are hardly NO reactions to her version of this song online. I have asked others over and over to SEE this. Haunting. Beautiful. Heartbreaking. YOU get it. Also, her beautiful haunting eyes and genuine expression are real, she just broke up with her boyfriend right before this was filmed.
Beautiful soul. The tears are - like Sinead herself - absolutely spontaneous and real. They come when she says the word "mama" .... XX

Such a beautiful, genuine reaction - thank you! "Troy" is a song she is known for (and wrote) - the emotions are even more intense. She has one called "Fire on Babylon" about the abuse she suffered as a child. It's almost hard to listen to, but she sounds like an avenging angel.
Sinead was singing the song for her mother, who had just died. She put all that hurt and loss into the song and it shows beautifully.
Nothing compares to this version. Absolutely beautiful
I so love her reflection
