Should I better take a 10 or a 9 Evo SLS?
I own a 15 Rebel SLS and a 12 EVO SLS.
At my main spot in Sardinia (Porto Pollo) I mostly ride a 10 in the kite school and very rarely the 9. Most of the time I rode a 12 or 10 because the wind there is often somewhere between 15-25 knots. But, Sometimes it blows really hard and I don't want to just watch other Kiters from the beach.😂
My question is: should I take a 10 or a 9?
With the 9 I can definitely go out more often, but I don't know if the jump from a 12 to a 9 is too big! Because the generated pull of the kite does not increase linearly with stronger wind, but rather exponentially. Therefore the jump from my 15 to the 12 kite should be bigger than the jump from the 12 to the 9, right?
I know you might think that 12 and 9 are a great match, but you have to keep in mind that I am 30kg heavier than a normal 75kg person. Therefore, my 12 is my midfield, whereas for someone with 75 kg, the 9 is more his midfield. So for me a highwind kite, is for example the 9m2, where the 7m2 is more for a 75kg person.
I'm afraid that the jump from the 12 to the 9 will be too big and that I won't be able to fill in the wind range where I rode the 10 with the 9.
I would rather stay with 3 kites, because otherwise it will be a hassle with the kite luggage on the plane (which should not exceed the 23kg mark).
A few more details about me:
My height. 191cm; I have a Doutone Clickbar 22/24 m; I use the board Jaime 142/43;
I just started kiteboarding (had 30 lessons with IKO instructors). I weigh about 105kg. I can ride upwind and change direction in the water. Now I have started to do some smaller jumps.
That's a great question! 🤙🏽 It really depends on the type of riding you want to do. If you're looking for more power and control in higher wind conditions (over 25 knots), then the 9m Evo SLS might be a better fit for you. Especially given that you already have a 15m and 12m. A 9m would be the perfect complement to your quiver. Good winds to you, my friend. -Aaron

I am looking at buying two new kite and already have a 7m should I get a 10m and 13m or 10m and 12m.

A 10 is a great midrange for you. 13 would be useful on super light days. Reach is a great choice. - Rygo
