He jumps into the sewers to collect money from a yakuza who is having trouble getting a job. This is something Kiryu can never do. I think RGG Studio has done a perfect job of replacing the main character.
I was going to make a comment about Ichiban Confections not being canon, but apparently it is canon. Hes just the Ex President. Probably spent his Board Meeting Money (since he didnt get a salary apparently) helping others (as Kasuga is likely to do) and is just broke again. But as always, Ichiban perseveres. Always has. In magic Yakuza world it's worth $500(i haven't played this one yet, but i saw a video in this game i believe, that says the exchange rate is 100 yen to a dollar lol), but i think with today's yen it would only be like $350
