      I think Kogan for many concertos is the best (like this one and beethoven) but for paganini i go for ivry gitlis.

      The best is Heifetz

    • @nss4472
      @nss4472 2 года назад

      @@maelperron_guerra4946 Heifetz is very epic. Strong forms, straight sounding. Kogan is so sweetsounded, so romantic, his forms feeling goes a lot in accordance with his romantic concept (even in Shostakovitch Concerto op. 77). They both are the Very Best: each in the own field and his own way. I can't imagine Heifetz playing this well, the same Kogan in Prokofiev (especially 2th Concerto) 🤷‍♂️

    Violin king.....unrivaled virtuoso.....a modern Paganini perhaps would describe his greatness...passion and perfect technique as no other contemporary masters I have heard....a heavenly gift for mankind's treasures.

      While all of that sounds very big and lusty, the reality is that there is no “greatest” in the arts….such a determination is subjective in the extreme, because there’s no objective measure for taste. Therefore, proclaiming one’s choice as one’s favorite is fine, but declaring one’s choice for every person on Earth is….well, I must stay within respectful bounds, so I will say such an exercise is just plain _silly!!_ I’ve got my own opinion, thank you very much!

    The beauty and intensity of his artistry is a rarity. Such passion & startling cleanliness of execution, he looked as if he had been born playing the violin. I love his rendition of Mendelssohn's Concerto for piano & violin. For me, he remains the greatest violinist. Leonid Kogan rises royally to the occasion - surely a prince of fiddlers. 🎻🎶❤

    What fascinates me about Kogan is that you can see and hear that he somehow struggles. It seems as though he was a bit afraid of the violin and wasn’t sure of hid capabilities. That’s the feeling a guarneri violin gives you because it is constantly fighting against you. But, when he was at his best, he manages to fight through and wins the struggle with the sheer passion that cone right from his gut, and that is just fascinating, mesmerising. He manages to dominate that violin and extract the best of sounds as though as he was fighting for his life in every note.

    Le plus grand violoniste de tous les Temps de par sa sensibilité et sa virtuosité.
    Son équivalent pianistique serait Vladimir Horowitz je trouve...

    As much as I admire Oistrakh’s virtuosity, I’m an even greater fan of Kogan. As for people pronouncing him as “the greatest violinist of the century,” I think they’re engaging in a terribly childish exercise. Since there is absolutely no objective way to “measure” the greatness of any artist, the most we can say is that one or another is our favorite. Or not.
