- Hey guys and welcome! Today (actually 2 months ago LOL) I reacted to my August SAT scores! Let’s just say.. the results were very unexpected...

As a 1550 scorer, I can say that the best tip is to really be passionate in what you do. Don't "study" for the SAT. Rather, read well written essays to revise grammar rules. You need a perfect on grammar. I am mad I lost 20 points in grammar lol. For reading, read the news and read in different subjects with different point of views and actually LIKE what you are reading. Never give up too! Ik a 1300 superscore is great for most ppl but if you know u can improve which ik u can, give it a go! GL
AH thank you! That's crazy how you got a 1550, I wish lol. I have been studying a lot more and a lot earlier too so I am not cramming but hopefully I do get a better score. I'm also taking the ACT to up my chances bc I heard it's easier but we'll see how I do for both.
@@keepupwithmealondrag DONT TAKE THE ACT JUST BC ITS EASIER. lol i fell for the trap. hey, it might be easier for u so def try a practice test. but i made that same mistake and got 2 29s. the second 29 was received in the month that I got a 1550 so that shows a lot. The ACT is a lot faster paced and requires u to find info rlly fast rather than understand it. Also, imo the act math is harder. But yeah, it is all subjective. No one test is easier or harder than the other. def fuel all your energy into the test that you will do better on. focus on the act aftr the sat is over ik ull only have 1 week but still

As someone who scored a 940 back in 2016 and am now a senior in college studying comp sci at University of Illinois Chicago who just accepted a full-time offer as a software engineer, I can say that test scores really don't matter and you will be just fine at any school you go to. trust me when i say that in college you can really make the most of it and be able to go into whatever you want once you graduate

I took the SAT in October... The funny thing is I got 1470s to 1500 during the practice tests... I got a 1340 for the actual test... Was definitely not happy with it. I only had a week of preparation though. I thought I'd get 790 to 800 on the Math section because it's my strongest subject... That became a 710.

@@keepupwithmealondrag Yep... Wanted to take the test again but there weren't any seats.. The next one I could've taken was in March this year but I figured out that by that time, the fall admissions cycle would be complete...
@@keepupwithmealondrag I have a friend who scored a 1600 on the SAT on his first try but for some reason, his score got canceled. I believe he gave his test in 2019 though... The second time he tried, he was in the 1400s. The third time though, he ended up with a 1560 which is still insane!! By the time he got that score though, it was kinda late and he had to submit his second score to a majority of the universities, he applied to. Last year wasn't all that great for SAT... Not a lot of people could perform well.. Literally, a 1340 was 94th percentile for me!!!
It depends on the college you want to go to! Some are still extending deadlines but yeah, most are probably done. Of course, if your grades and extracurricular are strong enough, you may not need the SAT, because I think for this school year they’re waiving that requirement.
And that’s crazy, omg, I can’t believe they canceled his score but at least he was able to bring it back up to a 1560!
The first SAT (practice) I took was in sophomore year and I scored an 1150. I was devastated because i knew what my parents were expectiing from me when i took the real one, and this score made me realize how much i needed to grow. Right now i am done taking it getting a 1430 on my 3rd try, and This is just a reminder that the SAT isn't about how much you know in terms of material, but how well you know the test. If I could provide any tips it would be to just take practice tests every weekend after practicing more, because as long as you know how to take the test in that type of environment, you won't feel as much pressure.
Yes I agree with you. The SAT isn’t about how much you know or how good you are in English and Math subjects. The SAT is standardized meaning it must follow the same structure for every test-taker. It’s not about how much you know but how good you are at logically approaching and understanding relationships to arrive at the correct answer. I got a 1290 on my first SAT during the winter, now I’m really hoping I can increase that score with the exam in June.

My score is coming out in two hours and I haven't slept yet, so I will sleep and check it later when I wake up (if I don't get my dream score I will not be able to sleep; checking it out upon waking up is a good idea)...will update in nine hours

@@jotrai May SAT scores were delayed for 3 weeks more since may 21, so results will come out on june 12
You can superscore your 2 scores to get a 1300!
What does that mean? (superscore )
@@pujashree5047 it means you can mix and match scores. So if you got like a 400 in Ela and 750 in math the first time around and then you get a 600 in Ela and 300 in math the second time you can take the highest score from math which would be 750 from the first test and the highest ela would 600 from the secind test. Then you'll combine those two scores to make a new score. It is totally legal to do.

I am really hoping for a 1400 and above, took my first ever practice test without studying and got a 1200. I'd be really happy with a 1300 to be fair.

Back in my day I would go into a store with 25 cents and come out with:

Congrats! That’s a really big bump right there! Can you explain how you improved your score?
You might find some of my other responses in the comments, but Khan Academy and linking my collegeboard account to it really helped. Especially if you’ve taken the SAT before, it will personlize your practice. I recommend studying at least 30 minutes a day, and focus on one subject a day, so it’s good to alternate between math and reading.

Wow, that means a lot to me :) and I’m glad you’re doing that already! Since you have a month, keep on practicing (time is precious)! And just something I did closer to my test day was looking up a couple of “tips and tricks” videos on how to approach certain SAT questions, which will hopefully help you navigate the test quicker and more efficiently.

@@vivibaozi eh it was actually easy in content though I didn’t perform amazing. I definitely didn’t study enough for it nor have I had the time to study for any others. I’m choosing to go test optional🙃

I went from a 1250 10th PSAT to a 12th grade 1580 with 800 reading and 780 math, all I did was grind like 4800 questions on Khan academy, mostly math ones because we barely learned any of the math in school and I was naturally good at reading/grammar. I was really surprised because the highest I got on a practice test was like 1480. Anyways you can surprise yourself and do way better than you imagine if you put in the work, no matter where you start from. Like it or not, the SAT is a very important test and doing well will help you.

Kind of the same thing for me. My math was a 770 but my RW was 560. I've never really read a single book in my life, which is probably why my RW is low lmao.

Most colleges take super scores, so you could list your score as a 1300

It was today. how was it
1500 here. Day filled with anxiety and my heart was racing during the test. Honestly, I speeded through the reading section and eventually just stopped reading. I did get an 800/800 on the math section though. I socked that bih right in the fuckin mouth 👄 🥊 💪
I got a 1440 on my first try while everyone around me has got at least a 1500+... So if anyone is kind enough to answer can you tell me if 1440 is a good score and should I take the test again? :__(((

You can always take the SAT as many times as you want! Some colleges also superscore so they take your highest score from each section over multiple tests.

They super score them tho so when you submit both scores you get a 1300

@@keepupwithmealondrag Yep it’s true. It’s called Superscoring. Most colleges do some dont. But MOST(like a lot) take your best Math and Reading scores.
OOH wait yeah yeah you’re right, I have heard of that, ee that’s good, but hopefully I still get a better score in December, I don’t want to rely on the superscoring yk?
@@keepupwithmealondrag all schools superscore pretty much. all 22 schools i am applying to do so. Def rely on that. I mean actually your scores are kinda equal so both can be improved. Superscoring is generally meant if you do rlly well on one portion and really bad on another so you want to retake it to do better in the other section.

taking subject tests even tho only 3 schools consider them. it is to make up for my grades which were not the best(I have valid reasons). again, exams and grades just show that you are capable so only take the exam if it highlight's your capability.

Hi Sparsh! I’m not really sure what you mean by that, but the SAT score is made up of two components: Evidence-Based Reading and Writing, and Math. Each are out of 800 points, so a perfect score on the SAT would be a 1600.

I GOT A 1260. i just took an ap exam and saw my sat results after. i know i could have done better because I DIDNT EVEN THINK TO LOOK AT THE TIME. the clock was out of sight anyways :/
i just told myself “go a little faster”
but when there was 5 minutes left of the reading section, I had an entire passage left, and left two blank. (yes, one passage)
i KNOW i could have done better, if i was more conscious of the time. at least a 1300 if i looked at the time, and 1260 is a good score for me.
i’m going to retake it (*´-`)
but it’s great because i did so well for zooming through a whole passage! thank you for your time, i can’t go in depth with my friend and i don’t want to seem pretentious for complaining about a 1260. :)
WOW, just like your practice test haha. But it’s okay, I thought I sounded pretentious complaining about my 1200’s scores and I’m glad you’re able to recognize where you went wrong and what you can keep in mind for next time! Definitely keep trying, keep studying, and also look into superscoring because some universities will do that and it can help a lot for a bunch of people who may not be as strong in one subject than in another. But I’m glad to hear from you and I hope your next SAT goes better!
Ps. Good luck on your AP exams too! I’ve been taking mine also, I’m assuming you took AP Lit today but I’m taking that over the summer. I hope that went well for you!! :)

@@thomascreates9643 atrocious vocabulary in kids these days is pervasive....im happy to argue this point with anybody. If you honestly can't see the constructive aspect of my comment (which she obviously did when she "liked" my comment) then you just might be part of the issue I'm referring to.
@@fredzuccarelli sometimes I do believe vocabulary does play a huge part in opportunities and achievements, however this is a RUclips video which is a very informal way of expressing your feeling and share with others. This may be one of the worst places to judge someone vocabulary. Also some “kids” (we are 18+) these days know when and where they want to use better terminology.
