There are changes to the way this form is performed from the way my teacher taught it. The direction and range of movement in the form as demonstrated appears to place an emphasis on strength and development of the larger muscle groups. While this section of the form as my teacher taught, it had a greater emphasis on getting the full range of motion from tendons and smaller muscles. I am not saying that one is necessarily better than the other. Although I do prefer the way my teacher taught it. I am not as young as I was. I am not so interested in maximising strength but I am very much interested in maintaining muscle and tendon health.

If you think about it - you have pretty much explained why/how form practice is beneficial for both long-term training and general kung fu practice overall. The movements and emphasis can change to meet the needs of the practitioner and where hey are both in training and in their life journey. This is something that is often overlooked.

Thanks, yes, The movements from the forms actually have rotator cuff exercises, which help a lot with injury prevention.
