Man i love the GT/TE. I was lucky enough to pick one up on ebay for £240 a while back. After a full re-cap and LCD DRV screen mod its like new!. What a console they delivered in the early 90's. Hopefully the customer sells one of their kids to get this beaut working again.
Fully working would cost more. It would be stock, not serviced, not recapped etc... and most work we do is because the consoles are sentimental it's not about replacing them but restoring them
@@RetroSix ngl its annoying if a service I've paid for keep asking for more and more every rabbit hole he went into, and once there's no rabbit hole, the math adds up to almost the same as a replacement. Sure, time is money but on the flip side, you wouldn't return a portion of the money if you solved it in 10 mins where he paid for 1 hour. If you do, kudos to you.
@@jackipiegg never had any complaints. Your paying for experience not by the hour. And also paying for diagnostics not guaranteed repair. Customer more than happy to go ahead with further work and already booked it in.
Almost criminal what the previous "repair shop" did to this semi rare handheld. It would be nice to see this fully restored.

Great video. What I learned is, on the GT you’re taking a huge gamble buying a non working one on eBay.
If the previous shop did that repair and caused all that damage I would be insisting they replace the unit... If you cannot do a repair just say so!
Yeesh. I wouldn't have even tried to fix that board with how much damage there was. Excellent work though, especially on the IC leg repair.

Seeing how much you charge on your site, wouldn't selling the customer a fully working console be worth it to him.

Yea I guess its a good thing since your reputation is great. Can't say much for other shops though.
What does 'the customer has used up the current time on the repair mean'. Is it like bench work observation/analysis cost. Just wondering
I cant find the uv soilder mask on you site?
We don't sell it but search on AliExpress for 3 second UV mask
