You rock. Didn't realize there was a way to manually update the firmware. I had an issue with my 1 year old RLC-823A 16x where the camera doesn't focus after transitioning day/night. Looks like it's fixed with v3.1.0.2898_23110119_v1.0.0.93
The manual firmware download page is not updated, I just purchased a RLC-511A and ran into an error when performing the update. I reached out to Reolink and it looks like there is a newer version of RLC-511A that has a different file which isn't updated on the Reolink site. I wish Reolink would spend some time to update the firmware update page.
I just bought this. I really hope this at the very least outperforms a much much much much more cheaper and older ANNKE 151ck I ordered days earlier. Enough to cause regret purchase of the Duo 2 Wifis because from a 2nd floor placement it’s different use. 5mp 20x zoom vs 8mp 16x optical. Part of me thinking the ANNKE wins me over due to pricing over quality. Thanks for your diligent reviews. Just got it and finally realized this isn’t wifi. 😂 solid construction. Probably would be happier with the ANNKE.
How do you upgrade with the cameras directly connected to the NVR? I have to expand the NVR and then it list the cameras, but no option to upgrade cameras, just shows NVR info under System - Maintenance. Will this have to be done from the NVR?
does it only detect when motion is in front of the lens or does it have detection sensors around front, back and sides? for when someone enters from behind
I have the 5x version and it doesn't have the auto tracking range option in the app, does anyone know if it'll be added, otherwise the auto tracking is useless to me
my autotracking seems to be stuck, after a while of it working during the day it just stops i have to manually reboot each camera for it to work again. anyone with the same problem?
I just did a firmware update on my NVR AND CAMERAS. Now I can’t access remotely via the app. I can only access when I’m connected to my router. Have you had this problem?
I notice the loud noise of the servos in the cameras while moving the position quickly. Can you tell us if this servo noise is audible at the distance you were away from the camera while testing the tracking? I presume it only sounds loud in the camera mic because it is close to servos, but wondering if servo noise is still audible when camera moves fast to people in area.
Do you need the waterproof ethernet connector housing? Also, that POE connector that goes to your router is that advisable? Does that give power and data at the same time? So all you need is one cord one long ethernet cord. It doesn't need to be plugged into a power source that ethernet cord provides power source when using that POE box
It is not a bug...but more of a "template" on their app that they didn't delete because their battery powered cams use this feature..just not their wired or plug in ones.... or they might add that functionality in the future.
Great video! They seem to have removed the firmware for this camera on the download website? Anyone know where I can find it? My camera showed up on a really old version. Thanks!
Ok.. so it tracks. But it doesn't zoom in on what it is tracking. So the 16X is nearly useless. And the narrow field of view is really not ideal for home use unless you have a way to mount it up high and away, but that also just exacerbates the problem with the zoom not working when tracking, like how it works with the TrackMix cameras.
This may be a dumb question but I am ;earning but I need a camera that tracks and was looking at this one but I need one for front, rear and both sides of my house. Do they make a NVR that will accept 4 of these? I also looked at your other video LH from 3 weeks ago and liked the RLC -81MA and liked that one as well but I would need 8 of them, again is there a NVR that will connect the 8 cameras? Hey, can you make a video about sharing Blink account on multiple phone devices? I’m trying to find a video on RUclips about how to share Blink account on multiple phones but only one video I’ve found on RUclips.
With Reolink cams and through their app or the desktop client are you able to scrub through 24/7 recording and have it show kinda like a timelapse? Similar to how playback scrubbing works for Ring or Wyze. Thinking about going Reolink setup but also want to be able to scrub through a days footage to check things out.
Unfortunately no, they do have a timelapse feature but its not what you're talking about. I came from nest where you could scroll through the footage like that and it was nice but they don't have real 4k cameras. So with reolink i resorted to having it only record motion and on your phone in the app it will show you somewhat timelapsed thumbnails of the recorded events and then you can click the thumbnail to see the whole recording. It can record up to a min past when it detected motion and it'll continue recording plus 1 min until the motion stops. If you have the Camera record 24/7 it only gives you 5 min segments, it will tell if there was motion during those 5 min segments but then you have to scroll through and have the video buffer each time, so just having it record motion has been way more accurate and thankfully the motion sensor has been very accurate, even more so than nest. Even without being able to easily scroll through the footage i still wouldn't go back to nest because the video quality is just too good with Reolink and i like have ethernet instead of WiFi. Plus no monthly subscription.
It boggles my mind that they can't manage to auto-update or at least tell you whether there's an update correctly. Honestly, their hardware folks sound way better than their software folks.
