i was looking to buy a regular peg38 then i saw this! maybe its better to get those and wait for peg39 in april? i was looking on the Peg trail 3 too reg and gtx! i have to decide its so tuff ! the other mystery pair u talk about is from Nike too? ty bro
Trail shoes are great for winter. I used the Brooks Caldera 4 for really bad days. Surprisingly, Ultraboost or Triumph shoes are great for winter too. Nice and warm but most importantly the TPU midsole is better at temperature resistant than EVA. I added the Pegasus 37 to the rotation for this winter season.
Very nice, thanks for showing these I'm going to buy these especially for Parkruns! I already have the 38's in black and a pair in white but these will be perfect for the coming winter 🏃♂️👍
So I noticed that Saucony has come out with weatherized shoes as well this season, such as Ride 14 and Endorphin Speed 2. In the raining months, I have used Nike Pegasus Shield shoes, beginning with Pegasus 36 and last season’s Pegasus 37. They do keep my feet dry. But since I enjoyed non-weatherized Ride 14 this year, I am considering purchasing the weatherized Ride 14. Since Ride 14 (and Ride 13) has been one of your favorite daily trainers, I wonder if you could get hold of the weatherized Ride 14 and compare it with Nike Pegasus 38 shield. I would be very much interested in your take as to which shoes you would pick. Thank you.
I rotate for winter as i had a bad experience some years ago when i went to stop at a kerb at a busy road and slipped badly in my usual road running shoes and my thigh came down on the edge of the kerb, was a bit of a mess. The summer shoes just weren't up to the slippy wet cold conditions of winter , the thin smooth sole outer went hard in the cold with knowwhere near enough grip. I now use wetter weather/winterised road shoes with much better grip although choice seems a bit limited . The offerings seem to be mainly heavier stiff Gore tex type trail shoes or standard summer type shoes , ive tried gore-tex trail shoes on road and my feet paid the price for that after 10K . Im now using Adidas 2020 winter ultra boost but i cant seem to find an ultra boost 2021 alternative so will be looking else where so will be really interesting to see what materialises next week..
True Motion Nevos Elements, got them recently, a bit less flexibility in the upper compared to the normal one, but keeps the feet quite dry in very wet conditions.
I am wondering if these shoes would be ok for Canadian winters when its snowing as well. Something I could use as replacement for walking in the winters as well (on roads or sidepaths) so I dont have to wear winter boots.
I'm pretty sure you said the 37 shield were brilliant but in this video you pretty much dump on them... Did you mean then standard 37s or the 37 shield?
@@mtmatt6111 It says AHAR+ but when I compare it to other Asics shoes with this compound, maybe a bit softer to the touch and therefore better in colder temps. Also a bit more wear than I'm used from Asics, so that kind of confirms the softer compound. Decent pattern, ran in snow and standing water without any issues, only surface condition which proved to be tricky was black ice, but good luck finding a shoe that can handle this without having spikes ;-) I would consider the AWL version over the GTX version. Quicklaces and extra visibility, especially on the 23 this year
I still got my Nike Odyssey React Shield with around 400km ran in raining days only. Great soft but stable shoe. I'm not that fan of this year's Pegasus 38 and the super hard React midsole. For me, React had a better density with the old Odyssey, Epic and Vomero 14 shoes I will wait for another Shield model from Nike or from another brand ( if I can find).
Yes and no. I don’t buy specific winter shoes but I tend to pull trail stuff out more often than in the summer for the same single track style paths. I did a photo shoot for one of the brands last year and they had me running through puddles etc. The weatherised shoes held onto the water once it came over the top of the heel pocket more than in the unweatherised stuff. I’d just buy thin waterproof socks if that’s what you’re after
Fordy.....I'm suggesting you should be Nike Global EVP of Shoe Lace Systems as the launchof Peg39 with Nike By You CF "I dunno knit" upper will sellout at full reatil.....FOR CERTAIN
don’t changes shoes for winter, but look for warmer upper if it’s colder than 2-3 degrees and usually wear old/rarely used shoes in wet as will be out of action for a few days.
These shoes are a cash grab, use your trail shoes or Nikwax, most people don’t even like goretex or other dry weave and it’s the outsole that is crucial in crappy weather. Unless you’re in deep snow (which I am in winter) you’re throwing money down the drain. My two cents, everyone is different though, if they work for you that’s great. Enjoy the run.👍😎🏃♂️

Is it wierd if i just wear them even if i don't do sports, i just wanted a shoe that doesn't get wet..
I wear all my shields for traveling best pairs especially for wet rainy cities
they are best for it and they are not too hot like 39 shield

Yeah that’s why I also like the peg trail 3 GTX
If i used in summer it is too hot?
Is it comfortable to use this shoes in warm weather or is it gonna make your feet hotter than original nike pegasus?

The water gets stuck inside the shoe, no drainage?
Mine are squeky everytime i plant my foot. Does the squeakyness go away with use?

One question : Can you weather them during warm weather? Ty
yes
Which one did he review that’s better ?
I don’t use different shoes for winter but just have a few pairs rotating so the wet ones have time to dry a bit.
Good point
No but these shoes are amazing for daily use as well so the extra protection for rain and wet ground make it perfect for autumn/ winter with wet snow.
7:39 pls tell me what is that shoe?
Yes i switch since I live in Northeast Pennsylvania. Opted for the shield over the gore Tex, felt like they have more pop than the trail
I picked up the Nike Miler 2 Shield and I love it! Will you be reviewing that one?
Hi no afraid I won’t as for me last year it didn’t work out
@@FordyRuns No problem, Fordy! I know shoes work differently for everyone . I appreciate your reply and all your reviews!
Need that protection from all the rain we get in the winter months the Brooks cascadia 16 looks a decent shoe may give that a go

Standard 37’s
@@FordyRuns good, I just bought some 37 shields yesterday 😂
Patiently waiting for the delivery of my Peg Trail 3 GTX’s 🔥
Let me know what you think! If you want to film a review let me know
I want a winter version of the Saucony Ride....
Ride 14 runshield
These are currently £57 on Nike UK ;)
Last year I went for the Asics Cumulus AWL, this year it's the Saucony ES2 Runshield that will do the job when it's rough weather ;-)
We have them in da house 👊
How did you like the Cumulus? I am considering the Goretex version but am concerned about the grip as I live in a cold US Midwest city.

I also have the Odyssey Shield and they are horrible, sorry. Not waterproof at all and the react foam got very stiff after several rides.

This or the cumulus 22
First! And I don’t change shoes for winter…
I do because it's not too easy to run on ice and snow with a relatively smooth outsole 😅
Well done

Dont buy winter shoes, my rotation see's wet shoes dry by the time i want to wear them again.
Good idea!
Fank you
Hi! Thanks for this review. I was wondering if the shield is breathable other than waterproof. What do you think? Many thanks.
