Just wanted to say thanks for producing a very informative review. You pretty much addressed all my questions regarding the performance/toe-off response, weight, foam stability in corners, heel lockdown, wet traction, and warmth... so important since I'll be running 0F-20F snow, ice, and salty slushy muck. The last YT "reviewer" I watched was some dude who wasted camera time talking about the box. The BOX! Not the toe box, but the physical packaging the shoes came in! He wasted time reviewing the freaking box... color, Nike logo, writing on box. LOL!! And I suppose the reason is because he couldn't actually provide any real insight beyond talking about the Peg Shield's aesthetics. As far as I can tell, he never actually wore the shoes outside his apartment. The dude basically wore them for the 10mins needed to take YT & Insta pics then spent the next 15-20 mins "reviewing" the Peg Shield's looks. That guy wouldn't know the difference between an interval workout and a base run.
Hahaha that’s time you won’t get back. But thank you for your comment and I try to give value in the review from what it is and how I find it to run in. It’s a specific shoe but I waited for rain to fall and give them a spin too. ☺️
Good review. I just got the RUNSHIELD version of the Saucony Endorphin Speed 2 and that comes in somewhat lighter than your UK 8.5 in these even in my UK 13 (about 280g) so a UK 8.5 for you must be around 225g. Unless you essentially run water straight over the laces it is pretty much waterproof too. Possibly the outsole in the Pegs is better though. Have also got the Peg Trail 3 GORE-TEX and that is quite heavy but figure that is an out and out off road winter shoe. I do like weatherished shoes for winter as feel gives me confidence to venture down off road sections and/or wet roads that would just give sodden feet at the first puddle in normal shoes plus so much easier to clean.
I guess the speed 2 is just naturally a lighter shoe as it weighs in heavier. They do a good job keeping the feet dry but I did find as I mentioned that the shoes were very warm when the temperature was about 15C. Grip was great, better than the original edition to be honest, which was a surprise. Yeah and agree Tim, its a nice option to have in the rotation.
They will be fine on the treadmill but really not designed and meant to be used as they much heavier than a regular pegs with the wet weather protection.
Hmmmm, the GTX is not a tempo shoe or I'd say as an allrounder. If a person wanted one shoe in their rotation, a Peg is always going to be in the conversation as long as your feet get along with them.
Hey thanks for the great review.. I dont like switching shoes for winter.. would you recommend this for runs in summer ? Does the rubber shield make them heat up ?
Thanks for your review on the Peg Shield Amritpal. Comparing it to the original I wonder if Nike are using a slightly softer compound considering it is intended for cooler temperatures?!
Thanks John. Without cutting it off, I would agree with your. The React just feels so much more softer underfoot which maybe to combat some of the wet weather.
I just got a pair the laces are very short. Did yours come with the long laces or did you switch them? Just wondering. Also do you know what that loop on the tongue is supposed to do? I’m guessing its to help keep the tongue snug and water, etc from getting in.. ? Thanks
Hello! Mine came with the standard laces. Yes the loop is excessive with the way it sits but once the laces are tied down it doesn't affect anything. Just a help to put the shoe on and keep water out.
I bought these today for $65 for Pre-Season fitness not realising they are made for the winter. It's late summer where I live but we don't get very hot days on the regular, will these be okay for the last month or so of summer?
Thanks for this video, I have a question been using these shoes and just now got a blister on my left foot next to the arch so I’m thinking is probably caused by the heat since feeling bit hot inside them
Nice review, Saucony have also brought out a winter shield version of the Speed 2. My own thoughts on these shoes are do people really need a winter version of a running shoe ? Part of my love of running is being out in the elements . The big shoe manufacturers are maybe saturating the shoe market here. Pun totally intended 😁
Hahaha I know! Half the time your feet don't get that wet ONLY unless its proper chucking it down and theres pools of water. That said, I've gone many years without them because as a road runner, the roads are pretty clear anyway.
You have connections with head ups at Nike? Don't you? Why don't you ask them politely what's up with the shortage of shoes supply's. 3 colorways of the shield in the U.S. markets and all sold out or few left. Is it because of inflation?

Great shoe , I have the all back colour way and they have a reflective speckle in the outsole for those dark months ahead , look and feel amazing
Ahhhh do they by happen to glow in the dark?? Something I tried to check and this version has strips of reflections.
@@AmritpalGhatora yeah when a light shines them or you take a photo they glow up or you might say sparkle
Thanks!!! Will have to check mine too
Great review, thanks for posting. Really helpful!
You’re welcome
Hey mate, I've just ordered these. A bit of a randon question, do u think these would be ok to run in whilst on a treadmill? Many thanks
They will be fine on the treadmill but really not designed and meant to be used as they much heavier than a regular pegs with the wet weather protection.
You'll get too hot on a treadmill so not really no unless you want to wash the all the time.
Great review 🔥 action shots. Tempting but have already got the Peg Trail GTX thinking 🤔

Hey Nirmal. I would not recommend these for the summer, they will be too hot.
1:37 is that blue part where your finger is poking at waterproof?

Maybe wear some thin socks
are these pair wearable even if it is sunny?
Yes but can be a little warm
I only went US 10 on the Peg 38 and I have wide feet. Do I need to go US10.5 on the Shield?
Hey man, you can go the same size
Thanks for this video, I have a question been using these shoes and just now got a blister on my left foot next to the arch so I’m thinking is probably caused by the heat since feeling bit hot inside them
Maybe too thick socks?

Good luck! You will have dry feet!
I just bought this, and they are squeaky as heck. Does the squekyness go away with use?
Yeh they shouldn’t actually do that
