I remember a time when shoes had uppers with 5 different overlays and 10 different colors all in the same pair and Nike's minimalist approach was refreshing.
I don't mind my 39's and have about 200km into them. I find them a bit narrow in the toe box for my average width feet, and although they're generally comfortable, I really don't like the overly plush tongue. Makes them feel mildly bulky. An issue I wanted to share is that a couple of times on long runs, I felt something in my left forefoot that almost felt like a rock was lodged in the sole ...which I knew wasn't possible as there's not really a spot for rocks to get stuck (maybe except for super small pebbles you'd never feel). When this happened I checked and there was nothing there. I later realized that it must have been the air pod in the front of the shoe I was feeling. It has only happened in the left shoe so far and only on long runs - but isn't a very enjoyable running experience when it happens. Switched to Novablast 3's recently and I'm liking them better so far - even though they're kind of ugly compared to the Peg 39's that I find to be a pretty shoe ;) I've got to stop getting swayed on the sometimes nicer styling of Nike's!
I have to agree with you. It surely feels like the Peg 36’s of which I recently retired. I got the Peg 39’s for 95 US dollars and no regrets. This looks to be my all around shoe of sorts.
I just did my long run earlier today with my Nike Zoom Pegasus 39 FlyEase and it is a delight to use it. It is not as fast and lightweight as the old Pegasus 36 but it is much more stable what compensate for me to keep my speed steady high. And it is way much better then the versions 37&38 in every aspect. By the way this is my first Nike FlyEase model and so far I'm loving it. Great lockdown and confort.
Thx, Edd! I picked up a pair based on your reviews. The 38 was a bit squishy for me so I was happy to hear 39 more firm. You got it right on your first take. The 100-mile review sold me in time for my US purchase. I’m also a fan of the Adios 6. I can see this will be a good daily workhorse to set up the Adidas and my Speed2s (my half marathon racer for now). I like to do strides on my long and easy runs and I’m hoping the 39 is going to work for me. You haven’t steered me wrong yet.
I've just picked up a pair of these; my first pair of (non-trail) Pegs! Got them on run-out for the equivalent of £40, which seems a decent price for a daily shoe that I will alternate with the Velocity 2.
Just got a pair of these as all roads led back to them. Great review and spot on. First run solid and comfy. Good luck in the Brighton Marathon from a Brightonian!
Of course I have these and agree it’s a good comfortable daily opinion. I reach for the Novablast 2 if I feel like a bit more of a softer run but I do have MANY options! Looking forward to what the Novablast 3 reviews though, it could be a winner if it’s better than the 2
Spot on review. As a heel striker the rear air pod is a bit of a game changer for me. I'm getting much more energy return than any previous Pegasus version. The new tread configuration seems to be more durable too, much less wear on the heel than usual. I wore my 39's to the Edinburgh Marathon a fortnight ago. I was a bit under the weather with a mild cold and just wanted to coast. Usually I'd opt for a faster shoe over that distance but in those circumstances the 39's were perfect. A very comfortable and effective shoe even over longer distances. I love my 39's.
Favorite is the Nike Turbos...the 35 I believe. Some of the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn. Still have a few pairs. Soul wear isn't the best and the back tends to separate requiring a little gluing but still love them. Also it works well without socks. I have used different versions of the Pegasus and none of them are as comfortable. That being said the Pegasus line are user friendly running shoes for the masses for different reasons. Good review as usual.
Yes, I love the Peg39 as well and I agree, it feels a bit like the 35/36 which is a good thing. I am glad it is an improvement over the 37/38, which I did not like at all.
@@EDDBUD 😂🙈 The midsole of the 40 is going to be the same I guess since they usually use it two years in a row with most models. Fingers crossed they put a good upper on it. 🙏😜 But for now, time to enjoy the 39.
It seems Pegasus remains a reliable Jack of all trades, Master of none. No bad thing, mind. The Invincible at the end felt like one of those cutscenes at the end of a Marvel movie that hints at the next one.
I have almost 100 miles on my Peg 39 since buying a pair in early November. My first Nikes of any kind. And it changed my mind about what I currently consider an ideal daily trainer -- capable and affordable. The Peg 39 fits almost identically to my Adidas Solar Boost and SL20, hardly a nickel's difference between the three in fit and overall feel. The React foam is pretty close to my first gen Under Armour Hovr Sonic (gen 2 Hovr Sonic midsole felt more rigid and less pleasant). Less squishy than Boost. Doesn't seem particularly temperature sensitive and feels the same to me in the 80s or 20s. Far more comfy than first gen Lightstrike in cold weather where it feels like cork. But the real clincher for me is the Peg 39 outsole. Great all terrain grip on smooth pavement, coarse chipseal, gravel, sand, slick wet grass, winter frosted turf, etc. If Nike never changes the Pegasus outsole again I'll be happy. Good upper compromise between winter warmth and breathability in warm weather. Pretty much like the Solar Boost, but better, tougher. The Peg 39 upper feels like it'll outlast the outsole, even when I literally kick rocks from dragging my feet jogging on gravel. My toes tend to get numb in winter but never feel overheated even in 100+F Texas summer, so a layered upper suits me fine. I'll often add the mylar packet from Clif bars or similar snacks as toe warmers when the temperature dips below 40F here. Makes a crinkly noise but doesn't interfere with running feel and keeps my toes warm without sweating and getting chilled. Great emergency winter tip, since you can buy snacks with mylar packaging almost anywhere or just scrounge them from a waste can or dumpster along the route. The aluminized inner liner reflects heat back to the feet. Works great too on single layer mesh uppers like the first gen Saucony Endorphin Pro, first gen Under Armor Hovr Sonic, older Adidas Adizero Prime knit, all of which lack any inner liner.
Those 1992 Pegasus were my first Nike too!! Was so exciting as a kid to get them. It was those or the Air Max 180's, but the Peg had a blue and yellow colourway and I got them in LA so thought it was appropriate and no-one back home in Australia (my friends and school mates anyway) had that version. Got back into the Peg's for the 37 but just didn't really gel with them, as there were so many other good shoes at that time, never had time to run in them! Got a few pairs of the Peg Turbo 2's though and never took them off haha
Hi Ed, I’m back after a break from all things video related and really glad to see you’ve now recovered from your injury. Thanks for your review which is timely as I need to replace my Pegasus 38’s, best wishes 👍
why did everyone hate the 38? i loved mine and just bought a new pair to rotate with the zoom fly, rather than update to the 39. I love the air in the front and none in the back. way more cushion for my heel.
Just got the hula lou version on sale for 75 bucks. I haven’t got them yet I just looked at a list online of the best running shoes but the color and design might be why it’s in sale but it was actually the first one that stood out to me.
Pegasus were my first running shoes, currently I do run in ASICS but will get another pair of the the pegs. Do miss them, they are just nice to run in and as well to do some city exploring. We actually used the pegs exploring China, Japan and Korea… great review thanks for that. Will pick them up for sure 👍🏻
Switching over from Asics unintentionally. Been getting lucky on eBay lately for Nike’s. I’m in AUS and just grabbed a pair of these (new) for $100AU (£60) and a couple of pairs of Vaporfly 2’s for about $200AUD each. Cheap enough to squeeze in to the rotation and give them a spin for more than just race days.
Certainly going to have these in mind when my Infinity v1's bite the dust. Not sure those tiny reflective pieces on the invincible are much use, why not just release them in away day gold?
Just added the 39 and invincible 1 to my rotation. 37 transformed my feet into one giant blister, 38 was much better but quite dull, 39 is 100% back on form. It’s funny you mention the invincible 2 colourway as well I’ve noticed a lot of Nike’s images are quite inaccurate. I’m sure the blue invincible is shown with a white sole but it’s very much grey in person, and the Oreo colourway look almost silver on the site… very odd!
@@thierryung9387 it depends what for, the invincible has more bounce so on the whole is more exciting. I’m not sure i’d like to go too fast in the invincible though, feels a bit clumsy at faster paces in my experience with it so far
Nike birthday discount month… might need to pick up a few bits, ran a multi terrain 10k race in NB RC elite I thought I’d be ok as it’s been dry, good on the railway paths, not so much in the 3 inches of mud and water crossing. Trail shoes next year …
Invincible 2 is practically the same as v1 just laces and a thicker upper it seems and thanks for the review I’ve ordered some peg 39’s I shall line them all up from the 32-39 hmm 🤔 see if Nike is going backwards in design
Just tried the peg 38..almost a copy of the 35s I have..I didn't like the 36 upper and the midsole was even flatter than the 35..the 38 has the same super comfortable feel as the 35 and same non breathability..unless it's got the upper from the alphafly and tempo next and vaporfly V2 or streakfly all nikes are the same and don't work for me except as a winter shoe..but the traction is very good and stability is very good..
The Nike Pegasus 27 at $90 retail were my first pair of running shoes. Today they cost $150, a 60% increase. A similar shoe, both popular for different reasons, the Brooks Ghost 5 at $110 were my second pair of running shoes I owned. Today they cost $140, only a 27% increase. I think Nike and the gas companies have alot in common. One of my daily trainers I run in now is the Puma Nitro Volocity, $120 retail. A steal in my opinion. Nitro infused midsole superior to react and that Puma grip can't be beat. Was a Chuck Berry fan but have no use for him anymore after reading about the sexual predator crimes he's been convicted of. Especially against under age girls.
@@jefreywith1f924 Must be the premium version. Pegasus 39 costs 130$ MSRP, a price increase of 10$ from 2021. But before that it has cost the same for many, many years.
I also checked, 90$ when Peg 27 came out is 120$ adjusted for 2022 inflation. 10$ increase likely due to global demand and issues from covid. Most companies are raising prices for shoes.
@@QronoZ713 I apologize. I stand corrected. You know the website I'm talking about. Can't mention their name or else my comment gets deleted because youtube spam rules. But after further investigation, the only ones being advertised at this time in the U S are for customization not the standard ones for at least now. I guess it's a exclusive thing for members only. Thanks for correcting me. Also the plastics they use to make the midsole foam are petroleum based and of course the supply chain problems contributing to price increases.
I work at Sports Direct and we are getting the pegasus Zoom 39 shield I am Autistic and I wanna learn each product I sell on trainers and shoes so I ve subbed because you seem to know your stuff thankyou for furthering my knowledge of the shoe
I took the peg 38 off road in the muddiest of conditions once just walking and didn’t realise how muddy it was 😂. It’s actually shocked me how well it did although obviously it was way out of its depth. I’m not suggesting it Im was good because it wasn’t 😂 but it was much better then I thought it would be and I really don’t think the peg trail ( I also own ) would have dune much better at all To actually properly run in these conditions would have needed something like the peregrine or even a mud claw
Interesting I might wait till the end of year mega deals and pick up a pair for light trails. When compared to the Peg Trail 3 Edd is there much difference??
I have Nike Zoom Pegasus 38 it’s amazing, I ran in it a lot it just doesn’t wear at all. But I wished the price is a little bit lower. And the outsole need better durable rubber. Thanks nice video
Tempting but I have plenty of shoes to chew through for now! Invincible run 2 could be something I’m more into for my training for Yorkshire Marathon! Looking forward to that review! For a first marathon where time isn’t a concern, what would you opt for to give the most comfortable experience? Currently thinking of using the endorphin speed 2 but might go for something without a plate! (Side note, I have vaporfly’s but think I wouldn’t fancy a full marathon in them!)
The Speed2s have got me a Mile PB and some pretty good half marathon times (for me) in the past year, as well as my fastest 5k in five years. Looking forward to the Pro3 but for now Speeds great for my racing.
Hi Edd .ive just brought the Nike Winflo 9 and it seems very simler too the Peg 39.I paid £89.99 at Sports Direct.only avaiable in Blue.Sould i just have gone for the Peg 39 or is The Winflo 9 BETTER..Theirs a Comparison for You Edd..take care Always my favourite Site cheers Alan
hi Ed, suffering with long term navicular fracture, on a look out for a very firm stable runner for max for runs from 5k to 16km range. thinking of the hoka carbon x2, hoka rocket x, reebok floatride energy x or anything else you would recommend. most my runs be steady pace as be only once or twice a week. did my 1st marathon in the peg 34s loved that shoe, got me a 2.53.
For a firm shoe avoid the energy 3 or 4. Very soft. The Hoka shoes perhaps a more suited being EVA blends. I had a look at that injury. Nasty one. Hope you can navigate though. 👍🏼👊
@@EDDBUD thanks Ed. appreciate the reply. ya its nasty, 3 injections later still not great so waiting on surgery. can do the odd run say 1 or twice a week but can bike pain free which is a blessing. looks like the carbon x2 will be choice. thanks again
@@EDDBUD went against the grain and purchased the boston 10 from your 50mile review amd the comments i think they will suit me as very firm, stable and will suit for steady runs I hope and the adidas adzerio 6s for the faster days. picked up both from adidas website for 162euro as on sale and I had a 20percent discount code. Worth a shot. keep up the good work.👍
Have you ran on the epic react 2 from years ago? It's the one I'm currently using and I'm wondering if this pegasus 39 is better than it at faster paces, cheers.
Ended p grabbing a pair of these. I have been wearing the 38's, and the Asics Novablast 2 lately. I find the 39's to be a pretty significantly firmer ride than the 38's. I am a disgusting barefoot guy and wasnt a fan of the upper material initially but found that the lightness of it made it disappear in less than five miles. The flywire gives it a better fit around the mid foot than the 38, and shoe overall just feels bulky. My main thing is the ride. You say it gets softer? I am around 20 miles in and it still feels considerably firmer than the 38's when I run out to the market in them.
Sir ..I'm from India..pls suggest me which one good for daily run & casual uses..pegasus 39 or puma liberate nitro1...because both are come very good deal now
I'm using pegs 38 for my daily training, but I struggle with pain and burn feeling in forefoot area everytime I ran after 3-4 KM, I don't know what could be wrong? The pegs or my legs. Anyone experienced this too? I want to know how is pegs 39 ride feeling if it's compared with pegs 38?
Would it be stupid to run these peg 39 on race marathon 🏁? I m reluctant to jump in the carbon expensive shoes. These Pegasus are so well fit to my feet. Thanks Ed! 🇧🇪 🏃♂️ (currently using Boston 7 on marathon 😢)
Maybe don’t go carbon. Go for more cushion. The peg is ok for daily stuff but there’s more cushioned non carbon plate shoes out there. Adios 7? Symmetros? Perhaps the spire 5?
@@EDDBUD hey! I’m back from the 👟 shop, and finally wanting 100% of the carbon experience, with a pair of pink 🫣 Endorphin Pro 3 in the 🛍…😅. Cushion is really good, it fits my feet well! I bought this roughly 3 weeks ago for 80 euro discounted after watching your review, by the time it arrived the womens version was on sale for 65 euro. Why are the womens version far cheaper and can I use womens sizes if ever? I am US 8 mens so US 9 womens? Hoping to see your reply. Cheers!
Great shoe review of a classic interation. Perhaps Nikey are finally listening to the peasants.....otherwise the Peasants are revolting, oh yeah, Revolting
Air zoom sole? You mean the midsole? Or the outsole? A simple damp cloth will clean the midsole. Get a soft brush to get rid of debris on the outsole. It’s a running shoe and will get dirty. No avoiding it.
It's a good improvement on the Pegasus 38 (although I liked the 38 too). It's just a really solid daily running shoe. For me, the outsole has definitely worn down quicker than the 38. But, the Pegasus 38 outsole seemed very durable imo, so the durability of the 39's outsole is probably comparable to other daily running shoes that are available right now.
@@EDDBUD True! I ran 1250km in my pegasus 38, but it was only after I got my new pegasus 39 that I noticed that the midsole was pretty dead in my old 38's. Had also burned through a lot of rubber at that point too, but yeah I definitely think the midsole went before the outsole.
How do the reflective bits cause blisters when they are on the outside of the shoe? I reached my hand inside can can't feel them. It's some sort of meme at this point
Maybe watch my older videos on the v1. The rigid nature of the reflective part stops the upper from flexing and after 14 miles you will feel it. Believe me. No other shoe has done this to me so far.
@@EDDBUD will do, but for now I'll assume the outsole (outer n longer part) of ekiden ver is diff from the regular peg🥴. As a regular peg is an absolute tank even after 200km from my past exp.
Trail Pegasus still in service. With this being so good I find no need to get the roadrunner. 😉 Now, both P39 and PT4 show improvement so... 🤔 NO! Not yet. Too many good shoes will appear in stores soon. Can't buy them all... ??? ...just to mention another nike Pegasus to come back ...and another nike trail shoe! I can feel the incoming headache! 🥴
My daily has been the 16s. New to running for about 1 year now. Can’t find vomero 16 wides (my loves) so I’m going for the Pegasus 39 wides (just ordered). Hope I made the right decision. I run or walk 5k daily. Id like to add I strike the front part of my shoes most and that’s where I wear a hole into the shoes. I know it’s not really considered a super longgg run but @ivo did you gain any experience ?? @eddbud on the slim chance you see this do you have any input? Ultimately I’ll just have to see for myself. There was a sale to get the 39’s @ 75$ earth credits each to the front door. Couldn’t pass up. Thanks for any feedback if any it would be greatly appreciated.
Iam using the pegasus 39 and after 100km i feel the air pockets on the right shoe is feel like buble cracked, like"pluk". And thats make responsive between right and left is different. Did just me or anyone feel it too?
the price for this in my country is not worth it. i convert it to british pound and it cost 130 british pound. nike should lower the price point for this, the technology used over at peg is nothing use, they had been recirculating the tech over and over and price point is getting more expensive.

I wanted an emperor burger not a cheese burger.
This invincible 2 has some purple bits in there. Very different in hand!
Which one is the more fun to run? Peg39 or Invicible?
@@thierryung9387 it depends what for, the invincible has more bounce so on the whole is more exciting. I’m not sure i’d like to go too fast in the invincible though, feels a bit clumsy at faster paces in my experience with it so far
Nice one ED! But NIKE still can't get me to buy! Better luck next year Nike! Velocity Nitro 2, all the way!
Have you run in the Vaporfly next% though?
Pegasus line are for my race day as well. Not dropping hundreds for a carbon plate just for racing.
Got the Floatride 4 and Ride 15 for ≈ 145€. Floatride, what a shoe
Yes it’s insane for the price!
Nike birthday discount month… might need to pick up a few bits, ran a multi terrain 10k race in NB RC elite I thought I’d be ok as it’s been dry, good on the railway paths, not so much in the 3 inches of mud and water crossing. Trail shoes next year …
Oh gosh! Sounds like a boat might of been useful.
@@EDDBUD i had to tiptoe along the edge of a canal so could’ve needed one to fish me out…
Invincible 2 is practically the same as v1 just laces and a thicker upper it seems and thanks for the review I’ve ordered some peg 39’s I shall line them all up from the 32-39 hmm 🤔 see if Nike is going backwards in design
At least it’s a touch lighter this time round.
Liked the 36, didn't like the 38. Now I'm going out on my first run in the 39 🙂
Just felt the front air pods were poking my feet 😂
Just tried the peg 38..almost a copy of the 35s I have..I didn't like the 36 upper and the midsole was even flatter than the 35..the 38 has the same super comfortable feel as the 35 and same non breathability..unless it's got the upper from the alphafly and tempo next and vaporfly V2 or streakfly all nikes are the same and don't work for me except as a winter shoe..but the traction is very good and stability is very good..
Only a couple of shoes I have ever found to be warm. Triumph 17 and the peg 36 shield.
Where do you live? I've never seen Pegasus that expensive
@@QronoZ713 USA 🇺🇸 It's listed at $150 on the same website as the shoe's namesake.
My pleasure! Hope your job goes well
I took the peg 38 off road in the muddiest of conditions once just walking and didn’t realise how muddy it was 😂. It’s actually shocked me how well it did although obviously it was way out of its depth.
I’m not suggesting it Im was good because it wasn’t 😂 but it was much better then I thought it would be and I really
don’t think the peg trail ( I also own )
would have dune much better at all
To actually properly run in these conditions would have needed something like the peregrine or even a mud claw
It makes you wonder if it’s different teams design the shoes and they don’t even talk. 🤣
Interesting I might wait till the end of year mega deals and pick up a pair for light trails. When compared to the Peg Trail 3 Edd is there much difference??
"Boring" black pair. I have a "cream" white colorway, lime midsole that looks straight out of the 70's but missing the velcro
They looked a little grey after use 😀
Did they name the new shoe after Yeovils very own Mr Invincible
Which one should I buy for daily runner? Pegasus 39 or Nike zoomx streakfly?
Pegasus 39 all the way
@@EDDBUD thank you for the reply. love your videos. keep it up man.
They do seem rather close
Hmm.. I had such a terrible experience with the Peg 37 … and plus I’m a huge Saucony fan… unlikely to pick it up
It’s very different to that shoe
Looking forward to your thoughts on the upper changes on that Invincible 2😊
It’s better. Still feels bulky but not quite as much as the original.
hi Ed, suffering with long term navicular fracture, on a look out for a very firm stable runner for max for runs from 5k to 16km range. thinking of the hoka carbon x2, hoka rocket x, reebok floatride energy x or anything else you would recommend. most my runs be steady pace as be only once or twice a week. did my 1st marathon in the peg 34s loved that shoe, got me a 2.53.
Didn’t try that one. Love the 39 though. Nike need to do more solid offerings like this.
Like using this on light trails or grass, I d rather go to the invincible for road
The outsole here has some good bite for varied terrain.
What are your thoughts 39’s vs novablast 2?
Sir ..I'm from India..pls suggest me which one good for daily run & casual uses..pegasus 39 or puma liberate nitro1...because both are come very good deal now
The 39 is great, the liberate nitro is maybe good as it’s very light and breathable.
@@EDDBUDthanks.. love ❤️ you sir
Good job on video 👍
Thanks Lee 👍🏼
I’m a victim too, sir. Time will tell me if it’s a good idea for my legs and my level 😯😯 (53 years old, 3h21 pr). 👋
It’s not out in the US yet. Late June or early july
Really?! Crazy
@@EDDBUD yea it’s really frustrating
What is difference in infinity react to the pegasus 39.
Love your vids my old budd.
I mean in terms of intended use.
I assumed they are a non Pegasus daily shoe. I think with the improvement to the peg this year it kind of makes the infinity a non essential.
Ed are you aware that the Pegasus 39 is still not available in the U.S. 🇺🇸? Just checked right now
I assumed it was finally out by the influx of reviews! I’m sure it will drop soon.
Hi EDDBUD !! Actually i bought nike vomero 16....and it has only been a week and the airzoom sole is getting marks ....what should i do to remove it
Air zoom sole? You mean the midsole? Or the outsole? A simple damp cloth will clean the midsole. Get a soft brush to get rid of debris on the outsole. It’s a running shoe and will get dirty. No avoiding it.
@@EDDBUD thanks but i am talking about marks like stretch mark on the outside of shoe's sole not the dirt.....
@@TheOGsimar The foam is super soft. It’s going to crease up sadly.
@@EDDBUD thanks for your time buddy 😇
Bro I need a shoe for 5km running on road daily did I need to buy high cusion Or carbonplatre shoe
For 5k road running I don’t think a plate is essential.
Yes I agree. The 38 showed almost no wear and midsoles loose their feel quicker than rubber wears out.
Just curious what length are your feet?
Trying to get a gauge for what size I should be.
Nikes In a uk 11 are spot on. I got 10.5 for Asics and 11.5 for new balance.
@@EDDBUD well i have 60 miles in mine had haven't felt it at all. I think it's a meme going around
Help me on this because I’m finding different answers. My US shoe size is 11.5, what would my EU size be?
Thanks
In Nikes a us 10.5 is a 45.5 euro I think. I find Nikes spot on true to size. But Asics a touch long. New balance a touch shorter.
Just got myself Peg 39 ekiden ver and the sole start wearing out at 15km. Any idea?
Really? I don’t think that’s down to the shoe. Perhaps examine your running form.
@@EDDBUD will do, but for now I'll assume the outsole (outer n longer part) of ekiden ver is diff from the regular peg🥴. As a regular peg is an absolute tank even after 200km from my past exp.
@@aimanapiq yeah I’m surprised to hear it.

NO! Not yet. Too many good shoes will appear in stores soon.
Can't buy them all... ???
...just to mention another nike Pegasus to come back
...and another nike trail shoe!
I can feel the incoming headache! 🥴
Pegasus 39 vs Vomero 16, which one would you choose for a long run?
Maybe the Vomero depending upon heat and climate.
I couldn't believe that this shoes is heavier than a trail shoes like Speedgoat 5
It’s quite reasonable in weight for my size. The speedgoat is a race shoe so will be lighter
Did I beat Cheeksteer?
Bronze but only by 3 seconds.
Just ordered a pair of Peg 39s in Bright Spruce/Lt Crimson- (green/orange)...88 Earth Credits
Enjoy! Superb versatile model
