    Love the fact that this lecture is particularly entertaining because of the bad scoresheet, not despite of it.

    love bens breakdowns, i watch all the skill levels he lectures, id like to think im a fairly good calculating player, but reallly ive only ever played people at uni and ive come to realise actually im not great, they just all sucked, so its nice to have someone put it all into perspective for you!

    Ben: "I shouldn't have left my phone at home. You know why, Argen?"
    Argen: "Why?"
    Ben: "Because this is a disaster."
    Argen (totally confused): "What?"
    I laughed waaaaay too hard at that.

    That second game was shocking for 1900 rated players. The slapdown of their notation skills was particularly harsh though.

    • @Hazara-_-
      @Hazara-_- 9 лет назад +3

      How is it harsh?

    • @Hazara-_-
      @Hazara-_- 9 лет назад +11

      ***** Yeah, that part was great. I don't get why everybody thinks this is harsh. 1900 players who don't know algebraic notation, which is something every chessplayer should know, let alone 1900-players... Another thing that's shocking is the quality of play. If i'd played such a terrible game I certainly wouldn't show it to a grandmaster. Ben is a great teacher and a really funny guy. Sad that it seems i'm the only one who gets his jokes...

    I am rated 1777 and I know how to write my moves down and most of them moves were horrifying to me! Loved the comment about Knight, the symbol for batman three, not the first time Ben's lectures have made me roll around laughing, they are like stand up comedy. The problem I have is that Ben's lectures are so good, I struggle to watch any of the others!

  • @jeroen3194
    @jeroen3194 5 лет назад +1

    In the second game, it was probably Ne5-g4 (instead of f3). That would have meant that Qxg4 would indeed take something and then N-batman-signal-3 would be Nf3.

    This was an outstanding video for kids and some adults who don't understand the importance of writing skills! Even though we are in this digital world, simple handwriting is a lost art/skill which is essential in many ways!! And besides, chess players should be held to a higher standard...GM Ben Finegold was great as usual, even not feeling too well.

    25:00 Perhaps the Knight was on c5; it was Nxc5 instead of xc5?

  • @ablejack3
    @ablejack3 9 лет назад +1

    My guess is that the white knight took the black knight interference sack instead of taking black's knight with the pawn. This would have left open the 3rd rank fot the queen to drop back and defend the mate.

  • @bazylipolednia6188
    @bazylipolednia6188 9 лет назад

    12:05 - he can defend the f pawn. Kg8 instead of Kg7, then after Rf1 he can play f5, because the pawn isn't pinned.
    And btw 13:17 - Be3 isn't so bad, what's more - my Stockfish sometimes even show it as the best move, swapping it with Bf6.
    What's worth pointing - 22:08, Bxg7, Nxg7, Nd4 forking the rook and the queen. Game over.

    how old is Arjun?? :D I bet he's gonna be great, he'd probably beat me xD he sounds about 7^^ but then I think: wait a minute, I can beat 9 year old Carlsen on his chessapp (however accurate that may be ^^) but I think the kid might be a dangerous opponent to me (ya I do suck at chess^^ rated like 1300).
