    Hi Anne
    It’s me again ! Well, I’ve been using my figure twister for 2 weeks now......and I love it ! I use it every day, for a 10 minute session.....and make sure I’m using my arms as well , which helps a bit with balance. I’ve started to bend my knees a little more now, and can feel it in my thighs as well as my waist. This is such a great way to tone my waist......your videos are a great motivator ! Thanks very much ! 😀

      Well, I’m now doing a daily session of 15 minutes....and boy do I feel it work ! My Fitbit says I burn 7 calories a minute, and my average heart rate during the session is 135 bpm......so this is a brilliant cardio exercise ! Plus, I’m finally getting my waist back 👏🏻👏🏻
      I’d recommend this piece of kit to anyone who wants to tone up and lose inches !

      Thank you so much for your lovely comment. I hope this does the job for you, though, if you have problem knees, keep the rotations small to begin with. what a down to earth, real video !!! I really enjoyed it and learned a lot from it...I agree that you don't have to work out for and hour or more...you can achieve a lot in a short time and not tax your adrenals by stressing them with too much intense exercise...by the way I don't know how old you are but you have a lovely trim figure...how long have you been doing this and do you do it every day....you seem like a really nice person...God Bless....oh I had a "twister" years ago..didn't stick with it tho' cause I guess I got inpatient waiting to see results..but I'm older now and have more patiience...lol...so I am going to give it another go and stick with it...honestly 10 min every day or every other day...shame on me...

      Hi Isabelle and thanks for your lovely comments! I am nearly 67 now but keep myself in good trim with a variety of exercise. The twister is just one of my favourites. I find that keeping it varied stops the boredom creeping in. But I do love a good twist! I often use it as my warm-up for home exercise or, like you say, a quick 10 minutes when time is tight. I've been exercising more regularly since I retired from primary school teaching. I confess I wasn't very consistent when I was working full time! I'm so glad you enjoyed the video. How many times a day can you do the twist? Also, you are supposed to twist with your hips not your knees right? To protect them.

    • @anneatkinson3388
      @anneatkinson3388 Год назад +1

      You can twist as many time as you want to. Just bear in mind that twisting is not good for your spine if you have osteoporosis (brittle bones). And your knees need to be a little bent , so they should be moving a bit too. Some movement is good for knees, but pay attention to how all your joints feel afterwards

    • @AdvancingFitness
      @AdvancingFitness  5 лет назад

      Hi Janice. You'll need to build up the time you twist for. I would aim for 5 to 10 minutes to begin with. I actually use mine as part of a whole body workout which includes other equipment such as resistance bands and sliders. As you get used to it, your endurance will develop so the best advice I can give is 'See how it feels, think about working hard enough or long enough to make you breathe harder'.

    Are you able to twist your hips, shoulders, and hands all going in the same direction and maintain balance? Can you do a ball handoff twist with the hips, shoulders, and hands all going in the same direction?

    • @AdvancingFitness
      @AdvancingFitness  6 лет назад

      Do you mean like when you're doing a ball pass to a partner behind you? The hips need to stay put or go in the opposite direction to get the spinal twist. But you could defo have a partner behind you on another twister to pass a ball to. The need for stronger balance (as opposed to doing that standing or seated on the ground) would add extra challenge for your whole core. Great idea! I'll have to get another twister now to add that into my partner workouts!

    • @vicmartinez3711
      @vicmartinez3711 6 лет назад

      Advancing Fitness Yes for a medicine ball pass with a partner. But this is for a swimmer to practice full body (shoulders, core, hips, and feet) twist in sync in the same direction. I think it is difficult to maintain balance if the whole twist is in sync - basic physics ...

    • @AdvancingFitness
      @AdvancingFitness  6 лет назад

      I think I can see what you're saying - you mean a whole body rotation - so I guess if you used your arms to give you the twist it would definitely challenge your balance initially. I'm not a swimmer so I don't know anything about the sort of training swimmers do. Sorry I can't be of more help with that one.

Depending on what you want to get out of it - I often do it as a 5 minute warm up, but then, if I want to burn a few extra calories, or want to challenge my arms, back and core more, I will do it for about 10 minutes. It can be great for a quick burst of exercise if you're pushed for time, so its really up to you! Enjoy playing around with it! 👍

    • @AdvancingFitness
      @AdvancingFitness  4 года назад +1

      Hi. I'm glad your shoulder and neck 'pain' is bearable. That most likely means its a type of discomfort call Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness, DOMS for short, where the muscles repair themselves after doing exercise that they're not used to. I'm afraid nothing in this exercise routine is designed to give you six pack abs. For that, you would need to a) follow a healthy diet to ensure your body is reasonably lean and can cope with tough exercise and b) do exercises which involve you contracting your abdominal muscles in a more focussed way. However, it is much better for your body to follow a healthy and varied exercise regime so that your whole body can benefit from an efficient muscular system. You haven't said if you are male or female - its harder for females to develop clearly defined muscle than males and we lack the levels of testosterone needed. Doing various versions of the plank is a great way to tone your abdominals, but make sure you do the plank properly! Plenty of videos for that too. Check out Redefining Strength.

    • @AdvancingFitness
      @AdvancingFitness  2 года назад +2

      I would say it depends on how long you use it for each time and how vigorously. But it you are doing something similar to the video, and you are physically healthy, I would say daily is fine. But listen to your body and if it tells you it doesn't feel good twisting on any day, take a break. - I would just point out again that twisting movements are not good if you have osteoporosis ( brittle bones)

    • @AdvancingFitness
      @AdvancingFitness  5 лет назад +1

      Hi. No, speed isn't important. With most exercising, form is more important (unless you're doing HiiT) . So YES, good idea to slow it down so you can get used to it. If it's a balance thing, it might also help to have a chair in front of you to get hold of if you feel your balance going. Glad you're enjoying the video! Hi. It depends on what sort of results you want to see. Would you like to e mail me at advancingfitnessanne@gmail.com for a more in depth conversation about it? But I would say, if you're talking about weight loss - alongside a sensible eating regime, about 20 active minutes a day, with a range of activities so you don't get bored, would help with weight loss.

    Is it helpful in burning of belly fat?

    • @AdvancingFitness
      @AdvancingFitness  4 года назад +2

      It will certainly help to tone up the muscles around your middle, but the best way to 'burn belly fat' is an appropriate diet and plenty of 'high intensity interval ' type training, where you raise your heart rate for short intervals, rest briefly before raising the heart rate again. You can burn fat effectively with regular 15 minute sessions. Just look for HiiT videos. The Body Coach (Joe Wickes) does some great ones. I will also be making some of these style workouts very soon!

      You can the exact same one as mine on Amazon. It's Body Sculpture Massage Figure twister. I've had it for years and its still very robust! There are other makes but I don't know how strong or durable they are.

      Hello Subha. This exercise will certainly help you to lose weight if part of a whole lot of increased activity and healthy diet. You might get bored with it if you do it too often, but maybe once a day to begin with for about 10 minutes each time. Then possibly follow one of my other videos for exercising the body in a different way. The best way to lose weight is to combine resistance exercises (with weights and/or your own body weight) with vigorous cardio exercises such as jumping jacks, mountain climbers etc. There are loads of great videos on You Tube to help you. Variety is the key to continued enjoyment. MOST IMPORTANTLY - you may need to improve your eating habits - smaller portions and a healthy range of protein (Meat or vegetable substitutes) and vegetables of all sorts! ...and minimal HEALTHY snacks.
      I hope this helps. Please feel free to get in touch again if you want further support and motivation! 👍👍

      @@AdvancingFitnesstq aunty love u .can i do skipping (100)4 times daily . Which detox drink is best for me

    • @AdvancingFitness
      @AdvancingFitness  4 года назад +1

      @@subhaseema3127 Skipping is brilliant exercise, so yes, as much skipping as you can manage. The best thing for you to drink is water. 'Detox' drinks are a bit of a con. The best thing you can do for your insides, is drink approximately 2 to 3 litres of water daily, across the day, and eat a healthy range of vegetables - lots of different colours - including leafy green veg for high vitamin content and plenty of fibre to cleanse your digestive tract. And don't forget healthy fats. Your brain and nervous system need fats so going low fat is not a good idea.

      @AdvancingFitness  6 лет назад +2

      I wouldn't like to comment on when you can start doing this after a C section (I'm not qualified in that area). Hopefully you're following your doctor's advice. Great that you are planning your progress back to fitness!

      You shouldn't have to wait a yr to workout after c-section. I can after 6 wks but ask your Dr.
