Increasingly, the usage of polyurethane elastomers in the production of rubber-based goods is owing to their physical and mechanical qualities. A wide range of industries, including mining, automotive, engineering, wood and paper, employ them today as do a large number of other ones.

00:48 How polyurethane products are created. For this purpose, we visited the Asma Polska production plant, located in Wola Ducka in the Mazowieckie Province.
    Let's follow this process.
01:03 We start with the preparation of moulds. They are created, among others, using CNC machine tools.
01:42 The casting machine's tank is filled with the raw material.
The raw material must now be degassed using a vacuum created within the machine's tank. It's a great way to get rid of any extra air that could get into the final product.
The machine is ready to commence casting after the degassing step. Temperature and pressure are maintained at optimum levels for raw materials to circulate when on standby. The polyurethane system includes both basic ingredients and other additives, such as colors, antistatic agents, and flame retardants.
03:03 How it works: the demoulding process
Demoulding is possible after the material has completely cured. Depending on the type of component, curing takes from a few minutes to several hours.
04:02 Postcuring the products: how it's made.
After this time, initial quality control is performed.
The machining department receives semi-finished items that have passed inspection. This is where they get their final dimensions and shapes, and this is where the surface gets its appropriate roughness.
All items are cleaned, packed, and transported to their ultimate destinations after final quality check. Mainly European, North American, and Asian corporations.

Factories are the tour of manufacturing facilities. We're here to see what it's like to work in this field. This project was influenced by the famous television show "How It's Made?" The Discovery television channel made him famous. We travel to the factory every week with our viewers to see how the particular manufacturing process is doing. We get a new documentary film every week, which explains how things are made. You'll find these and many more items among the many types of machinery you'll find on the planet. Most likely, you're also curious in the processes involved in food production. Some of the foods we showcased on our RUclips channel were frankfurters, Pepsi, kebabs and salty sticks as well as a variety of sauces and condiments. How exhilarating it is to be in the midst of making something new. There is so much fascinating knowledge to be found in the fields of science and technology. Every week, we take you on a tour of the wonders of the manufacturing industry. We're not in for any surprises at the plant.

Some, maybe most, polyurethane is a liquid at room temperature.
The solid forms of polyurethane can vary from very hard, like casters and hammer heads, to very soft, almost jelly like, or like the softest parts of the human body (rather creepy).
The foamed forms of polyurethane can be flexible foam in chair cushions and mattresses, or rigid foam as in spray in rigid wall or ceiling insulation. Depending on the formulation, the foam may be mostly intact air tight cells, or may be open mesh-like structure The density may vary from a few pounds per cubic foot to the density of solid polyurethane.
If foam polyurethane is poured into a sealed mold, you can end up with solid walls, and a foam core.
    Rather amazing material

The hardness rating is called "durometer" rating just a note about the technical verbage used with this product, I have used two part polymer urethane in various automotive modifications (suspension components, body mounts, motor mounts) etc.

I was wondering, what is this raw material that is used in the production of polyurethane, specifically?

    • @insidefactories
      @insidefactories  Месяц назад +1

The raw material primarily used in the production of polyurethane is diisocyanate. Specifically, there are two main types of diisocyanates commonly used: toluene diisocyanate (TDI) and methylene diphenyl diisocyanate (MDI). These diisocyanates react with polyols to form polyurethane polymers, which can be molded into various shapes or used as coatings, adhesives, or flexible or rigid foams depending on the formulation and processing conditions. 🙌
