    This is great stuff!! I’ve been ruminating on this for a couple years now. Each summer, they tell us to prepare for rolling blackouts that will last up to 2 hours or more and I’ve been thinking about something like this. I plan to tie in my RV with a 50A Onan gen on the side of the house and start that up to maintain the home until power is restored. Mostly for the fridge, office with internet access and the freezer in the garage. Goodness knows I should also put panels on the roof with the amount of sun we get down here…. Thanks yet again Brian for great production/information!! Cheers!

    Great Video. I purchased a Sungoldpower 10kw inverter and 20 kw rack mount batteries in November 2023. It took me until May 2024 to get it installed. Then after 2 two months of tech support emails and video uploads (it takes 24 to 72 hrs for a responce) I got a firmware update that resolved most of my issues and the unit is working sufficiently with the exception of Flickering lights from time to time. I think the product has great potential and I hope they get everything worked out.

    • @RVwithTito
      @RVwithTito  5 месяцев назад

      Glad you got it sorted. Are you using the same 10K inverter I'm using? I've had LED flickering with other inverters when charging, but not this one. Maybe mine had the latest firmware.

    • @larryd.9245
      @larryd.9245 5 месяцев назад

      @@RVwithTito I believe it is, SPH10K48SP. Light flicker is a random issue for me so maybe a device (freezer) is causing the problem but I don't have the problem when running on the grid. I use my Inverter mostly in off grid mode.

    • @nunyabusiness1499
      @nunyabusiness1499 3 месяца назад

      @@larryd.9245 If it has a round display and no serial ports for parallel, that's a different/previous model. I've read other light flicker complaints on that version. Some have resolved the problem by purchasing a different brand (maybe higher quality) led light.

    This certainly was a timely video as I've just started researching doing exactly what you already have done. Having the inverter powering outlets and such all the time and switch back and forth from utility power to solar power was something I didn't know was an option, so that is good to know. I don't have room for much solar, but I do have a garden shed that I was thinking of putting this equipment in and putting around 800-1000 watts of solar panels on the roof. That should be enough to keep the batteries topped off and keep the refrigerator and outlets powered up. I have a heat pump and would like to keep it going as well, but I'd have to figure out how to disable the backup heat strips, which is probably no big deal.
    Thanks for explanation on how your system works and the ideas!

    20kW solar, 16kW hybrid inverter, 75kW lifepo4 battery all offgrid. Powers our entire house. These systems are amazing.
    Smaller system is ideal for vanlife, and can even connect to grid with extension cord to recharge system at an RV park for instance. Alternator charging and some solar to keep the RV system topped up.

    Outstanding presentation and well designed system. BTW I have enjoyed your videos and learned so much over the years from the various power systems you have assembled. During the video you stated you had been running the system for about 6 weeks. This would allow for at least one billing cycle to transpire from your local grid power provider. Without divulging your electric bill amount what would you say the percentage reduction was in terms of your last bill? Also did you end up selling your last Class C motor home? If so I really wish I could have put in an offer LOL I thoroughly enjoyed watching you upgrade and improve the power system on that one - especially the control system.

    Thanks for the vid. I do have a question for you. On the inverter it has 2 ac outputs. I've found that (on the one I have anyways) that only when using just ac line out 1, that when checking the logs that ac line out 2 is actually having a power loss of its own? I've done some research and found that many others have noticed the issue as well but haven't found any possible solutions to it. I probably wouldn't have noticed except for when I swapped this one in as a replacement to my other equipment that I have a greater power loss at night,(not enough cause problems, but I watch things closely so even a volt or 2 difference would always get my attention) so I started investigating to see why there was more of a loss since the specs for it didn't show to be anymore than the previous equipment that I was using. Anyways, I'm not complaining about the Inverter, I actually love everything about it, It's great to have an all in one hybrid inverter. I figure there might be a setting that needs disabled, or maybe it'll be addressed in a future update if enough people experience the issue. Just in case your wondering. my place is 100% off-grid so theres not any other sources affecting this.. Whether you are experiencing this or not. I do appreciate all you do. You are truly an asset to the RUclips Community. :)

    Did you consider an automatic transfer switch so that if in the dead of night you lose grid power it will automatically switch to your battery?

    • @RVwithTito
      @RVwithTito  5 месяцев назад +1

      Already does that. It's always running through the inverter. So the grid will kick in and out as programmed.

    I have their older model it’s 6kw IP6048. Mine has Grid Interactive mode and can export back to the grid if I wanted it to. I am curious if yours can you just don’t because that doesn’t fit with your use case. I power mine with NiFe batteries. I don’t really have any complaints. Your app looks different from mine. I have also bought SolarAssistant. I have it running on a raspberry pi. It gives me a nicer dashboard than what I have in my app. Was happy to see someone else using a SunGold Inverter

    Just curious -why didn’t you do grid tied. The inverter would simply use solar and battery as programmed. Grid tied gives you credit when having excess solar not needed for battery charging or load going to the house. I understand if you didn’t want to do permits-but permits are required for grid tied. Nice system-2/0 wire for batteries is big wire. Very fun project -I did similar-but did grid tied-I didn’t want to have to be occupied with flipping switches all the time and having my mind on the solar power energy management. I saw your system in your Rv too. Very cool.

    Brian, I had another question regarding idle power consumed by SunGold versus EG4 6000XP. It seems SunGold is around 150W versus only about 50W for EG4 6000XP which seems pretty significant. Was this a non-factor for selecting SunGold inverter or were there other criteria(s) used in choosing SunGold for your system? TIA

    • @RVwithTito
