You took the words right out of my mouth...the minute I saw the statue I thought, where is Lucie...maybe Desi Jr. not so much cause what do guys know when it comes to things like this but Lucie should NEVER have let them unvail it let alone keep it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's actually frightening!!!!
My daughter & husband attended the Lucikke Balk festival in August, 2014 and absolutely enjoyed it. It really takes you back and makes me appreciate the years if entertainment with Lucy in our living rooms. The hospitality was tremendous by the towns people. Want to go back again for the annual Lucy' s Birthday week, filled with tons of fun.
Yep the original artist is from Jamestown and according to an old article... 'Artist Dave Poulin has "had plenty of opportunity to step forward, and our last conversation he wanted $8,000 to $10,000 to fix the statue," Celoron Mayor Scott' . Luckily they got a new statue made by a different artist.
Absolutely...and, I hope it was made after her death because what an injustice to her. I just bought a bunch of the I Love Lucy seasons and been watching at night. I never really realized how stunning she was. I always watched just for the comedic side of her, but, she truly was a beauty!!!
WOW!! I didn't know there was a Lucy-Desi museum. Thanks so so much for sharing this. I have loved Lucy my whole life long, like everyone in America, and not just the television work with 5 diffferent tv series but also the many films like "Panama Lady", and "Lured". I have a Lucy film encyclopedia called "Lucy In Film". I wonder if the museum has a gift shops with all sorts of memorabilia and things like that. Thanks again for posting this video. It must have been amazing to be there.
I think the statue was made after her death, and no matter what it should have been fixed, obviously no one is taking any concern into that matter, whatever that cost was for that statue it was a waste of money in my opinion. I personally would have sent it back and have make a new one until it was just right.
I'd be glad to answer that for you. No, it is not the real set. It was recreated. The actual set was on the Desilu Studio lot in California (this is in New York state)
Granted, this observation has been previously made..... That statue is horrible. They take the time to put a nice ground monument in letting you know she is "The first lady of comedy" and now that's the face you associate with it. Thank God we love Lucy because that poor bastard didn't.
The statue didn't look anything as close to Lucille Ball's face, whoever did the Bronze statue did a lousy job. I'm surprise that her son or daughter didn't get that statue corrected.
+stephanie naylor No. Recreated. Note the "breakfast bar" where the toaster should be is woefully missing. Attention to detail, folks? Desi would bitch them out in Spanish if he were alive.
I was afraid to comment but you took the words right out of my mouth...how in the hell is this even standing!!!! The outfit is perfect but please someone fix the face, it downs Lucy!!!!
OMG! How on earth did they commission that statue? It doesn't look like Lucy in the slightest. It needs to be removed and a better likeness of her put in its place.
Not only did the "sculptor" do a dis-service to her face she was wearing a hat in the episode!
Its a horrible statue!
Statues are always creepy and rarely lifelike. And so passe' anyway.

All modern statues of celebrities are creepy looking. Give me an example of one that isn't.
I won't forget that episode where Lucy was working the assembly line at the candy factory.😁

Thank U I may never get to see it in person.... thanks ever so much always wondered... what the set and clothes looked like in color...
I live in Jamestown and I am playing Lucy in her 100th birthday celebration at the Lucille Ball Little Theater.
Funny, just happened to see "The Sculptor" episode. Guess THIS sculptor didn't even ever see Lucille!
Loved Lucy and the gang..thst statue is awful. Needs a do over.
I agree. They certainly weren't taking their daily dose of "Vitameatavegamin" to see that this statue didn't look anything like her.
+patromano4 was thinking the same thing
they had a do over thank goodness....looks 100% better,,,,,,forget where I saw it...

That statue became known as "Scary Lucy".
I don't know what the sculptor got for that statue, but he should-a got life. (Apologies to Fred Flintstone.)
That was one ugly Hatrock!
I was able to view this set while it was on tour at one of the Atlantic City casinos some years ago.

thanks from someone who will probably never be able to make the trip from cali
There is a lot more in Jamestown now. We were just there. You should make the trek.
So wonderful to see the sets.

tHANKS FOR SHARING THIS TREASURE WITH US IN THE UK
i went there a couple of years ago and wasn't allowed to video tape or take any pics
am sure glad you did. thanks for sharing !!!!
that statue is more like an insult to lucy instead of a tribute.
Went there in 2001 and met her son and daughter. They were performing there!
Robin Greene: That's really awesome! I lived in the area and regret not going there. I don't even understand why I didn't go.
Thank you so much for sharing this!!! I will be going there in 5 weeks and am now even more excited because it looks so nice there!! :)

The statue of Lucy looks like Clark Gable... no foolin!!!
I'd be glad to answer that for you. No, it is not the real set. It was recreated. The actual set was on the Desilu Studio lot in California (this is in New York state)
no those arent the actual sets they're replicas
Omg... the statue. What on earth????
That statue is scarrrrrryyy
they didn't show Lucy and Ricky's other house when they moved to the country
But that statue...you mean to tell me that a more accurate version couldn't be made???
I went there yesterday. I wanted to record videos of the museum and the Desilu Playhouse but they wouldn't let me.
I want to go visit so bad!!
I am sure we will all see their show in the next life!
Hey , where's Rickys Congos?
I'm so glade they took that old Statue out it looked horrible loved the new one
I think I saw those same sets, or perfect replicas of them, at the State Fair of Texas back in fall 2001.
Is it just me or does the statue look more like the guy that walked behind through the shot rather than Lucy?
I'm Cuban Desy , We Love You.
@spiffypants87 Happy 100th to Lucy today!!
Thank's for sharing this :D I want to go soooo bad. I live in Buffalo but I have now way out there -o-

N for da record da bronze statue is great EXCEPT her face : (
The statue didn't look anything as close to Lucille Ball's face, whoever did the Bronze statue did a lousy job. I'm surprise that her son or daughter didn't get that statue corrected.
Can someone 'splain the provenance of the semi nude oil portrait of Lucy?
Glad they redid this statue... it sucked.
That's why I got my nickname: Lucy.....Thanks Lucille Ball
That music is nauseating.
Where I live :)
Some overlaid descriptions of what we are looking at would have been helpful.
Is that the actual i love Lucy set?
+stephanie naylor No. Recreated. Note the "breakfast bar" where the toaster should be is woefully missing. Attention to detail, folks? Desi would bitch them out in Spanish if he were alive.
@@musicom67 , the replicas look so cool
Are the clothes, the real ones
@thisphotoisproof No,not at all...I live in Nashville and have never been to Opryland...
That statue is HORRIBLE!! It looks absolutely nothing like the talented & beautiful Lucille Ball...
Kinda humorous that theirs a realistic bronze statue of Lucy getting smashed on vitameatavegamin in front of a playground. XDXDXD
After the lame set recreation, it looks like the entrance to a 90's Times Square porno theater - not that I'd know...
That statue looks NOTHING like Lucy.
Very nice
so i guess "lucy, you got some spainin' to do!!!" was never said by Desi Arnaz
I wished they never divorced.
That statue looks nothing like Lucy.
I was afraid to comment but you took the words right out of my mouth...how in the hell is this even standing!!!! The outfit is perfect but please someone fix the face, it downs Lucy!!!!

That statue looks nothing like Lucy. It is scary.
That statue is an insult to Lucy. Doesn’t even look like her.
Awesome museum, 👍 Can't say I like the statue. 👎
Statue is still hideous.
horrible likeness to her resemblance
That statue looks like a man in drag. I actually gasped when they showed the face. Not exactly a tribute in my opinion. Yikes!
